I remember when I first saw Reinforcement and found the idea really exciting. Then I realized that you're not choosing the hero so there's no ability to use it strategically (e.g. bring someone like Wolverine with his chain attacks to a map with lots of low-health enemies). In addition, it's not like having another random hero adds any card plays to your turn, so you won't be doing any more than you were before summoning them. The only real benefit is that you draw a couple of extra cards and that just isn't worth 4 heroism.
Magik is one of my favourite characters in the game - her dialogues sre so well written and the portal play style is a lot of fun. Good to know that mods can bring meaningful improvements to some cards.
She is my saviour. I just did the most challenging mission in my playthrough so far, I'd just put the difficulty up and I was so close to failing so many times. It was intense af Magik absolutely carried the others and on the very, very last move I had before being destroyed, I won by getting Magik to knock an enemy through a portal into HERSELF. I freaking love this game!!!
Thanks for doing these videos. Especially highlighting how specific mods make a card desirable. I completely dismissed her basic attacks, because I didn't know that mods actually add damage to them. Same with Portals, which felt underwhelming without the +Heroism mod you mentioned.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say you need to get used to her or build up her deck and stats to make her a powerful or useful character. As soon as she was unlocked her portals made it so easy to take advantage of environmental hazards like explosives and rack up a ton of kills at once. Using her felt like easy mode compared to other characters because she racked up so many easy KOs with just portals and gather while other characters required more effort to get their positions just right or get their heroism high enough to have the same level of effectiveness.

The game is very good, but of course that is a matter of opinion. While I am a huge X-com fan, I'm very glad firaxis branched out with something different.
@Miles Rowland No worries and as a teaser as I'm struggling with video he has a high skill limit, all about sacrificing life and using life to buff abilities. Will be very good I reckon but he is probably toughest hero to play.
Why is everything with Magik about portals in this game. There is a lot more to Magik then just portals. She has so many other type of powers. I feel like the developers were lazy with her 😒
