The fortress boss arena. It's got all the fortress bosses from the Devkit Guardians page of the boss gallery minus Mecha Dragon and Quint who're in the Ghosts of Yamato arena. CWU-01P and Tetris Devil are also here.
I find this is probably the arena with the least amount of RNG that matters. That's not to say there isn't any meaningful RNG though. Here are the bosses where RNG matters: Iron Ball, Hunter Type B, CWU-01P, Metall Daddy, Tetris Devil, Ballade, Enker, and Giant Suzy. For Iron Ball, you want it to swap to the second phase somewhere close to the center and to also try and get it to the second phase within 4 bounces. This is so that Iron Ball spends as little time invincible during the phase transition as possible. Hunter Type B has these awful platforms across its entire arena that will randomly change height. You want the platforms to line up right so you can easily kill it within 3 Magnetic Shockwaves. Each bubble of CWU-01P will come out from different gates. You want them to come out from the right gate as many times as possible because it's the easiest gate to camp. Or if you want to camp another gate, then obviously you want it to come through the gate you're at. Metall Daddy can jump at different heights. You don't want it to do a low jump because it'll lower its hat earlier and you'll barely not be able to kill it before it becomes invincible. Tetris Devil's eye will appear at random spots. You want the eye to appear somewhere easy to hit. Ballade, Enker, and Giant Suzy all have random movement which can make them harder to hit at times, but for the most part, you can react to their movements and still get a good chain.
Make sure to also keep an eye on your Magnetic Shockwave, Lantern Flare, and Banshee Wail ammo. With my strats here, you need 17 Magnetic Shockwaves for this arena so you'll either be using Solar Siphon or a W/M Tank. Lantern Flare is used for two bosses: Kamegoro Maker and Ballade. Lantern Flare isn't a particularly ammo efficient weapon and the best way to fight these two bosses is to really lay on the Lantern Flares so you'll end up with a really low ammo bar after just one of these guys. With my strats, you'll need 12 Banshee Wails to get through both Metall Daddy and Hunter Type A so you'll have to use Solar Siphon a little if you're not in the mood to be using a W/M Tank.
We use the one Boss Skip on Mega Mech Shark. With this weaponset, the boss is actually fairly consistent, but it's still really really long. It's about 35 seconds. If you're really good, you can maybe get the fight down to 30 seconds, but that's still longer than the next longest fights, CWU-01P (about 25-27 seconds) and Picopico-kun (25 seconds).
Boobeam Trap is a rare boss where your platforming matters. I start the fight by using Tornado Blow to get to the higher platform and killing the leftmost Boobeam Trap. After that, you need to do a kind of annoying jump to get into the nook with the highest Boobeam Trap. This is the hardest part of the fight and failing this jump will obviously lose you time.
As mentioned earlier, Tetris Devil's eye will appear in random spots on its body during phase 1. While I don't think it's possible to kill Tetris Devil within 2 cycles, you can get 4 hits in during the first cycle if you're really good. You kind of have to predict where the eye will appear during the first cycle though. If you manage to get 4 hits in during the first cycle, then 2 hits in the second cycle, you can end phase 1 in just 1 hit as opposed to the 2 I have to do in this run.
For Tetris Devil phase 2, I use Track Shoes to scale the wall and tank hits from the two opening blocks. The eye only appears on the third block so by removing the first two blocks earlier, you can get hits in on Tetris Devil earlier.
This run beats the previous normal record, auraX's 6:47. For improvements I think my biggest mistakes were in Enker and Tetris Devil. I could've reacted better to Enker's movements and gotten a perfect chain, but I botched it and dropped the chain. Against Tetris Devil, I missed getting 4 hits in on the first cycle of phase 1. I also fired the last Thunder Beam too early in the second phase and dropped the chain there. I also dropped the chain against Ballade, but that boss is hard to get a good chain against, so I think my fight here went pretty well. Lastly, I feel like there's gotta be a faster strategy against Hunter Type B. Maybe if you get really good RNG, you can get more double hits.
