Tip: Bouce the flash off white celings and walls. Right above you. Makes a world of difference. Dont even need the Magmod. Second tip, If you are going to use flash directly at subject, use white paper on top of flash, to have lower light intensity, then try balancing it with the ambient light using higher ISO and lower shutter speeds. Tip 3: If you have a a flash wireless triger, place flash off camara, above subject, you will get better results.
