In this video I am reworking a spare Magnatraction chassis that I had and upgrading the armature to a mean green 6 ohm arm with Pro 7 magnets from Viper.
Nice build... I have fond memories of the AFX Magna-traction cars as a youth. I really enjoy your videos of the "old-school" chassis rebuilds. Sad to say my slot-cars from childhood did not survive. Fortunately I introduced my son 20+ yrs ago to the hobby and we started a very small Tyco & AFX collection. Please keep the videos coming !!
Thanks Lonnie! The Magnatraction chassis was the chassis I used the most as a kid, still have some of mine from the 70's. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
Hi Mark, Nice video. I like bringing new life to the older chassis too. I use a VRP Dyno for before and after results. I enjoy your videos . Keep them coming.
Good video Mark good old school chassis they're fond of rebuilt there's a bunch more you can do with them the bounce arm lower the magnets shaved the chassis and put The Fray front end and rear ends in it keep up the good videos❤
I have a NC-2 on the way, I also already have a NC-2 GT. I was going to compare them to a Bulldog SRT. I should get to compare them sometime this week.
@@marksslotcargarage You are reading my mind:) Awesome. The NC-2's, RS-6 are short wheel base cars that are mainly the same design, with the RS-6 body mounts adjusted for the newer 1.5" AFX cars. The PR-5 is a longer wheelbase Mega G replacement clone. They all should run about the same since the motors are the same I believe and long with N30 Traction magnets.
@@marksslotcargarage interested to see that. I recently also tried the lvl 7 magnatraction mags from Viper on 2 chassis. I also replaced the front and rear rims with the BTO repros from SlotcarCentral. runs like a different car. but I had issues with pickup shoes, most of them would eventually stick up and stop contacting the rail. still trying to figure out, went with 2 pairs of old silver original slim pickups for now. but I was surprised to run into a pickup shoe issue.
The 1500 Gauss from Jag are much stronger than the Pro7 from Viper or HCS, at half the price for $3.50 a pair they are a great deal. I am going to do a video today on them.
@@marksslotcargarage looking forward to your review of the 1500 gauss Jag mags. I have almost picked them up several times lol. I don't think I need anything stronger than the lvl 7, so I am interested to see how it works for you on the viper track.
There is no pit kit for Magnatraction cars, you just need to order individual parts you need. You can get pickup shoes, springs and basic tune up parts for the Magnatraction chassis from viperscaleracing.com, hcslots.com or jaghobbies.com to name a few.
