How much more expensive are Magepans in Canada compared to the US? I'm always disturbed by the ridiculous markups Canadian distributors apply to imported products.
4:42 The right watts ? Efficiency not being terrible important ? Maybe if dynamic contrast is not on your list of speaker qualities. Otherwise I would disagree. Power must abide by the law of diminishing returns as anything else. 30.7's are 86db @1 watt. requiring 2048 watts to hit a 119 db peak. A 93 db planar will require 512 watts to hit a 120 db peak. This does not account for parasitic losses in the xover etc. Sure that sounds like a lot of spl's, but music is full of dynamic peaks that require a lot from an amp to properly track the input signal. BTW..Try a laser pointer when setting toe in...get you spot on to the listening position.
Open baffle, dipole speakers have out-of-phase pressure waves coming from the front and back. Therefore, the acoustic energy at the sides is cancelled. No sound occurs at the sides even in the lower frequencies.
Sadly magnepan is going away from its original idea. Making good speakers for the everyone including the hard working class of people who grew up with no advantages no help no money given to them and no money for collegeand a diploma they work sometimes two jobs pushing themselves to the limit of exhaustion to put food on the table and a roof over their familys head. . They are pricing themselves to appeal to the overprivaledged and super rich and trust fund brats 38 grand Canadian is too much and for some people is more than what then earn after taxes in a year at least 60 percent of Canadians make that amount or less. Too bad greed is a nasty thing.
@@55afishead No, he or she is right. You're just justifying your own lack of conscience. Or trying to. There's more engineering in a Toyota Echo than in one of these speakers.
