The black tin was an old fashioned ammunition box that would have had a soft soldered lid covering one side, hermetically sealing the contents and preventing deterioration. Quite likely bought for a legally owned pistol before post-Dunblane handgun ban and when discovered in more recent years, dumped in the canal to get rid of it.
I can't believe some of the comments on here. This is someone filming a lighthearted pastime and it's turned into a stupid battle of words.I for one am enjoying it for what it is.Please post more.
Stfu they care about being youtubers & earning a cheque when its gunna take at least over 100.000 subs to get a steady income ppl think you make content & ur rewarded for it 😂🤡
I have to say of all the videos on magnet fishing yours are always the ones I enjoy the most. keep making them guys and I look forward to seeing more...
The contents of the black box is wrapped packets of pistol ammo. Usually called a "spam" can. It would have been sealed with a soldered lid. A "D" ring on the lid would be lifted and pulled, to peel the lid off.
additional comment. I've learned from your vid that when disposing of evidence do so in a non ferrous metal box. thanks for your help. pdaddy and poco on paisa creek.
PSO Archive Exactly thats probably why they were hidden to begin with! Kinda stupid giving them to the dang police when they just gonna throw them in the trash.
Yes...but when someone goes to all the trouble of putting them in a lock box & wrapping them up to the extent shown in this video...they’re probably not like your old uncle alberts war bullets. Definitely suspicious
Next time you find a box/safe full of jewellery just keep it, don't report or hand it into the old bill keep it for yourself I'm sure they won't be Interested. WMP useless!!!
That's a very interesting find. In the past I've done explosives courses and one thing they said was not to use any kind of phone or radio transmitter within 10 metres of a suspect package because the signal can cause a current in any wiring attached to a detonator. Just thought I would mention it ! As for the Police reaction - what can I say? They asked you to take live rounds of ammunition and packages of associated material that could be explosives, to the Police Station! Then they complain about the smell and tell you to bin it. As the kids say... FFS!
@@durandconnie7161 I was shocked to hear how casually they treated this. In my opinion, yes they should have given it priority and at least sent someone with a bit of firearms experience there to check exactly what had been found. To ask someone to carry what could have been explosives into a town centre and into a police station is foolish, to say the least.
It's an arsenal, perhaps by UK standards, but not here in America. That would be an afternoon worth of target practice. This was an interesting find, and from my perspective, an interesting look at your local views on firearms related items. Too bad the ammo can wasn't still sealed, the one you were worried about checking deeper into. That ammunition would have been in perfect condition. I am not too sure of the laws there where you are, but it was likely someones ammunition supply for guns they are no longer allowed to own. You may find them buried nearby, or in the same location as the ammunition. Get a metal detector and start sweeping the area nearby. Interested to hear from you folk if you discover more restricted items.
First of all Phill..I love the new opening and closing graphics..nice job mate...omg...when you find stuff you find stuff..omg...you've found a grenade...knives...guns and now this!! Lol I would have peeked at what was in the little boxes..Julie was so protective and cute telling you not to touch anything lol..well if you here what was in those boxes let us know..stay warm..take care
@@lindastorey6685 *sees ammo* CRIMINAL! Sheesh, the state of England. If I dumped ammo in the river I would seal it too! What if guns somehow became legal after Brexit (which I doubt, but here's hoping, I'd like to see the British get some of their rights back) and whoever had the ammo wanted it back? Sealing it up, keeping it from getting wet would make recovery easier. Oh well, if you're right, at least they're gonna roll up on the river and be mighty disappointed when they don't get anything to kill with. Going to have to switch over to knife crime like everyone else across the pond!
who knows what was in those smaller boxes, perhaps more bullets but maybe something much better. Too bad the wifey was so paranoid over seeing a few soggy bullets that they couldnt muster the courage to take a peek. Ahh the brits, no wonder their land is being taken over by radical islamists.
@@HuskyGamersUNITE It's not illegal to own any knives in the UK. Some knives are illegal but many people have them in their own homes, you can even by them online. Just don't get caught carrying around a locking knife over 3" without good reason or you may get charged.
Brummies outdoors.cool video. Guns seem a little up to date for being in the water so long. But hey, who am I anyway to say. Must have just been tossed in yesterday. Hahn? Seriously. Maybe it floated downstream. I have a rule in this world. If I wouldn't want it done to me I wouldn't do it to someone else. Words to live by. Promise.
First video I've ever commented on, but I just wanted to say how brilliant your videos are! They really make me and my kids laugh!! I'm a Birmingham native myself, living in Wales, so watching your videos reminds me of home!! ☺

I love the accent,,,I have been practicing how to speak the accent for 30 years love it. Funny story I was doing the accent at ceader point in line for the gate keeper 2 years ago,,, i had all the people in line near me fooled into thinking I was from England,,lol I've gotten good at it.
2:54 This is how the packages for kids Christmas Eve need to be packed so there is more time to enjoy their own gift while the next person packs one up. 🎄🎁
Great hearing the Brummagen accent again, thanks for taking all that stuff out of the cut. The box you found would have contained ammo, packed in a sort of large sardine tin, you usually pulled a handle like a big ring pull to open the tin. Now, after the police first told you to bin it- would they have stood by that if you were stopped with it on the way home??- and bin it where? the nearest Peaky Blinders pub????. Well done team Brummies Outdoors.
@@j-glockin7377 thanks buddy , we all make mistakes, it's in are nature, just hold your head up high and your nose clean and it will work out, I am not saying it will be easy but it will make a man out of you that everyone will be proud of, stay safe my friend.
If someone went through that much trouble to package bullets to waterproof them, more than likely they put the gun close to it. its my soap opera mind thinking. in other words its a guess.
sounds to me like the police didn't want the responsibility of processing it. I would have thought that a car would have been sent to the canal so that the search could be taken over by them. but, they just weren't interested.
The police didnt care because the likelyhood of the ammunition being usable was extremely slim after being submerged for any length of time much less posing any threat. Still looks like it was fun to find and you are cleaning the waterways.
Hello from Utah USA. I’ve been really enjoying all these magnet fishing videos. The tin with the smaller boxes inside look like more cartridges most likely. Not dangerous until loaded into a gun in the wrong hands. “Disposing” of the cartridges isn’t the smartest idea. But as far as evidence? Is it illegal over there to own brand new ammo? Can’t see how that would be evidence unless it was the shell casings only. The question would be, where are the bullet counterparts now and could they be matched to the casings as part of a crime locally? Since they were new, its just, nothing in my mind. Free ammo. Ignorance can insight fear, not to call names to anyone. Thumbs up to you.
Police are Satanists. Bullets are not illegal. As unfired bullets, they were not used in any crime. All they found was trash. What did they expect, a pat on the head? What did they expect? Congratulations, we are proud to award you the metal of good citizenship? Police are tyrants who defy God, and have no problems putting those bullets in your back. They work for Lucifer. Satan means Oppress/ Accuse. That makes ALL POLICE a Satanist.
Excellent video Mr & Mrs B! Can’t believe the attitude of the police though, absolutely shocking! Can’t wait to see what The Troublemaker drags up next 🤗 xx
Hey there Mr. B. Oh and Mrs. B also! The black tin inside the red lock box was a tin of ammo packed for military use. They package the small card stock boxes inside a metal box that is then sealed air and water tight for long term storage in the depot. By the size of the tin and boxes inside it was most likely handgun ammo. Hope this helps you out. With all the stuff you turn into the police they must know you by name now...:) PEACE:)
Probally someones previously legally owned rounds just thrown away years after 1996 when they banned automatic pistols cause they knew they'd probally never use them again
9mm rounds ready and 9mm and what looks like .45 casings, the small boxes are the bullets to make more rounds all they need is gun powder and bullet press even after being under the water they could still of been used. good find
its just ammo mate! 😅 and wet so wont explode ... the box u didnt dare to open with the little carbord boxes are ammo aswel . military surplus ammo were packed like that . nothing more nothing less .
smokeless powder is almost impossible to explode outside of a gun chamber ! or ud have to strike the primer with a sharp object . and if it would explode what do u think it wil do ?! the gasses can escape so there is no pressure behind it . take it from me ( gunsmith) its no toy but also no death trap . @most could get a burn but u can get that from a rope aswel !
what im trying to say : if u handle the ammo as u should (dont throw it around or hit primer or whatever ) it wont explode !! te primers or powder wont get unstable from being under water ! and yeah military ammo should be waterproof up to 5m if sealed . regular non seald or mil crimped primers and bullet heads wil probably fail (probably) as u aparently disect my words ! i hope its a bit clearer now for you?! btw this isnt my mother language . so its always a bit harder to explain things proper in another language !
PhreshFunk - The murder rate in London is neck and neck with the murder rate in New York and has at times been higher. Guns aren’t the problem. Doesn’t it seem silly to say if we outlawed fishing poles more fish would live? People would just use something else. I hope to never lose my right to own a weapon (or a fishing pole).
Little black box was probably British WW2 .380 ammo for the Webbly .380 issue pistol. Here in the states we call that round .38 S&W. I have opened many of those little black cans of that ammo. Nothing dangerous there. had been in the water to long to fire.
@adam jennings Yep, you did have .38 revolvers during the war, sent from the US via Lend Lease in a can filled with cosmoline. They were then "broad arrow" marked and bored out to 38 Webley. I have one of these that was brought back to the the US, and the ammo is very hard to find. .38 s&w cartridges will fire in it, but the brass expands too much during the firing process, so you have to fight to get them out of the cylinder. Crazy bit of US-UK history!
great video!! From the USA, that is less then the amount of rounds i would bring to a range to shoot for fun. id bring about 200 .223 for everyone, 200-400 .22LR, while showing the kids how to shoot responsibly. then at least 80 12 gauge for the tennis ball skeet. Cool find though, I think the best way to describe it, is like finding someones tackle box. 2 Thumbs up.
You guys found grandads old bullets for his shooter . I've never found a sealed up package but I bet it's like opening up a gift box on Christmas. I want to go play in the river now ! .

there are no automatic 45 or 9mm weapons even made that the average people can buy everything is Semi- Auto but those were all live rounds.what was in that big square box was probably .22 long rifle shells

Scares me to think what the story is behind someone placing this stuff in the water. Oh what a surprise, the police weren't interested in a hidden stash of bullets. A friend of mine witnessed a burglary in a neighbouring house and took photographs. The police didn't bother to attend and told him to have the film developed and drop them off at the station. Needless to say, he never heard anything more about it.
Helen Weedon, the police "told him to have the film developed and drop them off at the station"? Did he take these pictures last century? Is he a time traveling, crime fighting photographer? Does your friend live some place very slow to evolve and progress? Is your friend just slow to evolve and progress? Is your friend Dr. Who? I just can't imagne putting a cell phone or digital camera into a wet film development tank nor taking candid crime photos with a film camera these days! lol
