Lucas k2f magneto repairs to aluminium body and relevant re-assembly information following armature rewind (see previous videos) plus related tutorial and learning experiences, hints and tips. Constructing test rig for testing magnetos
Hi Mr F. I experienced exactly the same issue as you did with the slipring, maybe from the same supplier. And I restored the continuity the same way you did. I've not tested the mag yet. I'm currently building a jig to test it on the Myford, inspired by yours 😀. Thanks for the videos, from the French Alps.
hi Ol Al1 great work, the myford sounds good for a test rig, what would we do without Myfords, very versatile machines. thanks for watching and comments, let me know how the testing procedure goes regards mr f
No the wire should make contact.and if it doesn't it will spark and will burn the wire out. It will work for a time .but when you put the slip ring on the armature.you should get a reading with your meter.from the earth i.e. body of the armature.and the slip ring.of about the same as you would.when you tested the secondary.hope this helps
Hi, i ran it for 3 hours in a rig and all seems ok, not fitted to bike as yet, ithink i will put on bike to try it , as for the pick ups i will check, i put new ones in, however ive nothing to compare them with. Thanks for the tips and advice
the pick ups you need have a line down the carbon .the faulty ones dont have the line.and you can remove the condenser.it makes no difference to the balance. if you fit the soft pick ups . the bike will run for a time.but then the bike will start to run lumpy.and one cylinder will stop.and if you pull one plug lead of it will run on that pot bot not the other.but if you fit the lead you tuck of.and pull the other lead off.it will run on the first cylinder .the powder from the pick ups will track around.and act like a slip ring with a solid ring.like a single cylinder . hope this helps
