I had a couple people ask me how we set up and feed my Pseudoglomeris magnificas, so here you go! I know that folks generally don't like roaches, and I get it. However, you have to admit that these are pretty!

These are really popular over here in the UK invert community ❤ The screen doesn't do them justice, they are amazing. Oh, one YT I'd love you to dip into is one of my friends, Matt Ferridge, aka Tarantula Rookie 😊❤

Oh wow thanks Nessa I did actually reference one of Toms older videos recently - the E pachypus video, as it was the one video that made me adore that species. Only just recently managed to get one and it was a dream for me 🤟🏼

Only Polyzosteria mitchelli can compare when talking beautiful roaches, but we'll probably never see those in the hobby.

How much does an emerald cockroach cost? They are very pretty. They look like precious stones.

Many folks are selling them in groups of 10-12 for $100 or more. They are super pricey around here.

These look very similar to some of the Polyzosteria cockroaches we have here in Australia. They look similar to some of the metallic green species. There is also a metallic gold species but its hard to collect. Polyzosteria are a really rewarding species, diurnal, friendly and species like P .mitchelli , P viridissima and P. limbata are occasionally available.

Really? I had no idea that you had those in Australia! I'm loving these, so I will definitely keep a lookout for more species. Thanks!

Hey Tom! Great addition to your collection (and great idea from Billie 😜)! I tried to keep these some time ago, all 10 died within a short time. I was quite pissed considering the price tag on these buggers. 😅 Cheers guys! 🤟

I've wanted to get some of these guys so badly! Love to see that you're offering them bee pollen as well, since it's such a great food for feeder and pet insects (and a great dietary supplement for omnivorous reptiles, too)!

Yeah, I read that they like it so I picked some up. I didn't even know that they sold it before researching these. haha

It’s actually tarantula tactic, I forget his name at the moment. He makes awesome enclosures. I think Randy ?? Anyway he taught Dave from Dave’s little beasties how to get them to thrive & reproduce !! Dave has an experience vid on the information he got showing how they are massively reproducing. Couldn’t hurt to check it out ?? 💚🖤

They look like little pill bug only wider. You do NOT give these to the T's? They are pretty. But roaches are not my fave thing.

@@TomsBigSpiders Oh wow. That is so cool. Maybe if we study them we can find out how to keep them out of our yards and houses. Whenever they clean the sewers, the roaches run everywhere. But not this kind. This is kind of pretty.

I have a colony, started with 20 and now i have hundreds. Poillen, banana and apple are great but i also give them dog food and works well.

That's fantastic! Mine have just had their first babies. Do you crush up the dog food? Also, what temps do you keep them at during the winter? Thank you! -Tom
@soldfaith

@@TomsBigSpiders hi Tom, yes i crush the dog food with a mixed and add some fish flakes to it, just make sure the dog food has no salt or artificial flavors. During spring/summer i keep them at 75/85 F, even 90 F is ok surprisingly, i'm in southern California and summer gets extremely hot but didn't have any dead roaches. During winter, from november until February, i let them go into a soft diapause, keeping them at room temperature, around 70/75 F, this helps them recreating their natural environment. If you're having babies, you're already doing great. In my experience, high (air) humidity around 70% and good ventilation is key to their breeding process. One thing they hate is wet substrate, so i personally spray them with water once a week, mostly so they can drink droplets from the walls but the substrate, (coco fiber and oak leaves), has to be kept on the dry side. Hope this helps, these are my fave roaches, absolutely stunning! have a good day. Erick.
