Was there a cut in this or was it a one take? I noticed the cartel members in the corner as he's being pushed in the wheelchair, but upon the 2nd camera go around behind the chair they're gone.
There was one cut, as the camera goes behind the chair… as they could only film the water part once.. and they had to move and waterproof the mic before the water part..
There were two cuts - one very small one when Ren took the bag off his head and then one when the wheelchair was turned round - to enable them to being in the string quartet and to allow them to reposition Ren's lapel mic on his tie rather than his jacket (which of course he took off). The final part was all done in one take.
Remember the line in MG1... "Turns a Saint into a Sinner, a Child into a Killer.... His finger on the trigger of a Money game..."? . That's Jimmy (imo) . (And it goes full circle at the end)
mate it’s become a problem for me i think i’ve watched near 50 reactions to this song alone and i do that with just about every ren song. i can’t even realistically estimate how many hi ren reactions ive seen

Sneaky Snake you never disappoint. You don’t miss a thing. I saw Samuel mention they had to replace the woman’s strings of her instrument when she inadvertently got wet. Yes, I agree I said the same thing above. No one pays as much attention as SnakeVenomV, he misses nothing, his skills are unmatched. Knox is good for sure but not the attention to detail like this gentleman and the intelligence to wrap it all together and see what very few other reactors see is special.

Been looking forward to this for quite some time - the king of Ren reactors reacting to the king of musical storytelling. I was not disappointed - another truly phenomenal job (I kid you not - I even applauded you at one point !). So pleased to see you highlight Ren's acting in this - being a total perfectionist, you can be sure that every hand movement and every facial expression was completely deliberate and rehearsed to death. A few points on what you said : Yes the lady in the string quartet got wet - Ren paid to have her bow replaced. There was a subtle off camera magazine switch after we saw Ren load the bullets into the magazine. Due to the gun laws over here, it was extraordinarily difficult to source a Colt 45 but Ren tasked his right hand man Connor to magic a couple out of nowhere the day before the shoot. One other call back to MG1 & 2 - the rain in MG3 was a deliberate visualised call back to the hook in the previous MG's - "Rain, rain, rain, rain/A storm it comes our way". Every time I watch this, I am intensely fascinated by the care and attention Ren takes with the jacket when he takes it off and pats it as he places it on the table. I would love you to react to Eden which Ren dropped a few weeks ago - would be fascinating to see and hear your thoughts on it. I'll leave you with this thought : the vast majority of the Sick Boi album was Ren probably at only 70-80% capacity due to his illness. This is probably one of the first times we have seen Ren with any kind of budget and closer to peak fitness (at least for him). The future is bright, the future is Ren

MG3 exceeded expectations for me. I had goosebumps when I first watched it, and the money game challenge was such an incredible experience to be a part of. It gave me hope that we can collectively make a change to improve this broken world. I was blown away by your reaction because you picked up on so much stuff. The part just after the cookie jar where you paused and you said Jimmy was looking back at his life and Ren was perhaps asking us here to look at own lives - Genius 🤓 You're right this was magic. Ren has some extremely talented friends (shout out to Sam and his team) and they did exceptionally well producing this art for us, but what is the most magical thing is how Ren's mind works to visualise these concepts and communicate them to the world in a way that everyone can understand. The music was so integral to the story too and I loved the call backs to MG 1&2, especially the violin part that was gorgeous wasn't it? I'm not sure if I'm reaching, but thought it might not be a coincidence that Jimmy's name is similar to James - going back to how you are raised can have a big influence on your life path and choices (or lack of choices!) Fun little extra: the bit where he puts his hand on his chest in that pledge of allegiance style was helped by Knox Hill! Knox was there for that part (he actually stood in for the waitress in rehearsals) and Ren asked him, as an American, what looked better. Hands behind his back or one on his chest. They chose well! It was a mistake the lady getting wet .Ren had to replace a quite expensive bow for her, but credit to her for not flinching, professionalism at its best. You were correct in that the rain was a call back to both part 1and 2 if you remember the money game song included " oh Rain Rain Rain"

THANK YOU for being outraged that Jimmy was only 5 for the first line from the dad! That just made this the best reaction for me. Most people recognise the toxicity in the way the father is raising Jimmy (though I have seen a few disturbing exceptions), but I think you’re the first to pay attention to how young the kid is when it starts. Who tells a 5 year old they gotta learn to be a man?! They gotta be kids first. I wish the scenario in this song was completely unrealistic but there are probably way more people like that in the world that I can even imagine 😢 Anyway this is a masterpiece in storytelling. So many people I watched said ..Yep, got to instill that young, nothing wrong with that. Well in so many words. Some thought it was all great until he started selling drugs, then they thought it was a bit much at that point. With that mind set we see the cycle continue and driving it through to the next generation.

Ren wanted to "prove Hi Ren wasn't a fluke". What he proved is that the world is not prepared for what he can accomplish when he has free reign. We do not deserve this man. Great reaction Snake! So many great insights. When I watched the premier, I was so sucked into it that as soon as he finished the last line, my brain just kept going with the hook from MG 1 and 2. It was then very confused that the song wasn't continuing. The last hundred years of Capitalism has stripped us of our humanity by channeling our energy (expressed as money) up to the top of society, rather than out to other human beings. Until we center our humanity, collectively and individually, we will not create the change we need to be. Until we decide to retain our own energy, rather than using it to grease the machine, we will continue to be crushed.

God I love your enthusiasm for Ren and his vision for his music. MG3 went beyond my expectations. I stopped mid bite of my breakfast when I watched it for the first time and I was late for work. ( Try explaining that to your boss). Stunning in every sense of the word. I hadn’t picked up on Jimmy looking back on his life and when you put it like that the tears welled up. I’m just into my sixties and there’s a bit of that going on. Keep doing what you do, I love it. ❤

Oh I adore the way you broke down this track, it was such fire. I loved how you spotted all the Easter eggs and the minute details. Isn’t Ren is truly amazing! The message in this track is told so brilliantly as it references so many of his other works and encapsulates the themes together into this one absolutely gorgeous masterpiece. At the beginning of ‘Money Game 3’ Ren references a previous track ‘The Hunger’ because Ren is Frankenstein looking in the mirror for the first time and feeling pure desire, this is encapsulated in the lines “mine, mine, gimme”. He’s about to “Make a Monster”. What is about to happen is all foreshadowed in two of REN’s other tracks, the first being ‘Genesis’ with the lines “Let me be real for a second, mm-mm Tongue is a gun, is a weapon, mm Reload, bla-bla, dead 'em, mm-mm Beast mode, Armageddon, 'geddon” , the father is using his words to weaponise his child, but instead his child later turns the weapon upon himself. The second foreshadowing is in ‘Illest Of Our Time’ with the lines “I turn it up to eleven, the Demigorgon of Oppin The strangest thing, I'm the boss when The danger lingers, I'm plotting Sweet like a spoon full of sugar Because I'm Mary like Poppins The double barrel is cocking A shotgun shell to the noggin”, the father is going to make sure his son blows up into a big deal like Oppenheimer. In the middle of this track Ren references ‘Money Game 2’, ‘Power’ and ‘Murderer’ by considering how to build an empire by “Investing in product” and “Investing in my power”; and then arming up the world by sitting “on my throne made of bodies and bones because im mentally ill I'm feeling alive, I got the will to survive so never test my skill For goodness sake man, i'm ready to break man…Murderer”, by selling arms and spreading his arms around the world in a strangle hold creating ‘Chalk Outlines’ when men hang from the gallows a rope around their necks. Ren then has Jimmy’s father point out that Jimmy isn’t yet King of the jungle or head of the “Animal Farm” he’s not yet ruler or in full flow, he’s not fed enough or become an “Animal (in full) Flow”. When Jimmy’s father dies Jimmy turns into a ‘Sick Boi’ by becoming “Doing what we’re told, Counter-intelligence, a sight to behold Raping the Earth of all resources, and bleeding it for gold”, but when he bleeds it, what the fuck will remain?” All that is left is to adopt ‘Wicked Ways’, Jimmy has become the “eye of the storm, the poisonous one, he’s the grip of the gun, he’s a zip of the body bag, zipping it shut when it's done He’s the hit and the run, the prodigal son, Atilla the Hun”, but when Jimmy hears the “Sound of the gun”, he is no longer in a fit state to run. So instead, just as his father rained down and berated his son, Jimmy comes full cycle to let it “Rein, Reign, Rain”. At the end of his life Jimmy is “pained, it's a crying shame”. He finally comes to realise that the circle has to close because “The pursuit of our own wealth lights a flame, that makes greed a game that lets the whole world burn. As the world turns, the whole world burns Money was invented for trade, but now those bits of paper twist hearts, make slaves, turns a saint into a sinner”. Jimmy was “a child (who became) a killer… His finger on the trigger of a money game”. There is the possibility of redemption though because there is a question mark at the end of the track. Does Jimmy become a fallen angel when he’s ‘Lost All Faith’ committing ‘S’ or does he “Hold On’. The lesson this track leaves us with is: what choices would we make if we could live our lives over, would we choose to relearn ‘How To Be Me’?

Before Money Game 3 came out, Ren had an interactive game about the 7 sins where people everywhere looked for clues to get down to the last player who would win a lot of money. The last sin was greed. So the last person and a friend found it on an Island in Scotland. He dug up a suitcase and it was full of money. Also bottle of gasoline and a note. He could take the money and walk away or set it on fire and take another case that was buried, which would maybe have even more. He ended up burning all that money and when he opened the other case.....it was full of seashells! (As in Money Game 2) Ren is a genius! We will never see another artist like him! And this was an amazing review! You pointed out things I never noticed! ❤❤❤

I believe there's another couple more callbacks to "the tales" trilogy. The melody in the beginning is hauntingly similar to the opening one in Violets story; possibly foretelling/shadowing of the tragic story to follow. Also, the part at the end of this where he says "its such s damn shame!" Is sung at the end of some of "the tales" (maybe minus the damn bit 😋) Love you perspective, thanks for what you do 😊
I started falling down the Ren rabbit hole probably a week ago, having never heard of him before and generally avoiding social media & RU-vid (except for instructional vids) like the plague. I've probably watched 100+ Hi Ren and Jenny & Screech reactions (and am working my way into on Money Game and the other stuff) but out of them all your analysis is second only to Knox Hill's - but they're very different, even though there's some overlap. As a singer/guitarist/songwriter myself (but most definitely not a rapper) I appreciate Knox's in-depth insights into the technical side of Ren's genius. You catch a different slant somehow, which is equally valid and very watchable. You're not as emotional as some of the extremes I've watched, but his music clearly affects you as deeply as it has the other thousands/millions of people who stumble across him. You offer an insight into aspects of his craft (and Sam's, of course) that no other reactor has seen, and that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. So, in summary, thanks for making these Ren reaction videos, because every different personal view I see adds a new depth/dimension to what Ren does. The guy's not just a musical genius, he is in the process of changing the world for the better, and all despite (and probably because of) the fact he has no big corporation backing him. PS. The Beano (Dennis the Menace, Roger the Dodger, Bash Street Kids etc) and The Dandy (Desperate Dan, Korky the Cat) were weekly paper comics that every newsagent in the UK stocked. Both of them released a yearly 'Annual' hardback special which is what you see on the desk

The way you sighed and said; "Ah Jimmy..." with such sadness and sympathy. Ren has you / us thoroughly invested in his characters - doesn't he! Pure genius and micro-attention to details in all apsects. Yes Live and two takes.The one cut occuring in the black behind the turning wheelchair. Ren is a playright, actor, narrator, set designer, audio and lighting expert, singer, rapper, guitarist, pianist, lyric genious, producer, director - and MORE! He really is The Modern Bard of our times. "OMG!" and "FGS Ren! Leave a little talent for the REST of us!" Is what I hear echoing aorund the globe! But Ren is not 'only' a mega-talented artist- and genius Creator; he is also a Powerful Social Commentator. He challenges us to STOP and think about the tough questions, the hard issues and their consequences. He asks {as do many...} "Where the heck are we going!?" It's like we're on a runaway train with no driver at the wheel! Isn't it time - long since time! - we, all of us, put our hands back on the wheel and steered this whole thing onto a safter and saner track? Or are we content to blindfold ourselves, and stuff ourselves with all our seductive immediate gratification treats and trinkets- while our train hurtles us ALL headlong towards the Extinction Cliff???

So, I’ve watched at least 20 reactions to this prior to yours, but during your commentary about his dad and never going to get his dad’s approval, a light bulb went off over my head and my thought is that Jimmy’s dad is both the Carrot and the Stick. The carrot he’s chasing is his dad’s approval and the stick is his dad’s harsh words

What many people miss.. is that during the cocaine scene at the desk.. while it pans down to the knife thru the cocaine bag.. Ren, all while still rapping, starts to quickly unloosen his tie..stops to spin the globe...then unbuttons his shirt...and spreads his collar.. quickly before the camera pans up to him and the phone rings. It is ALSO amazing that the globe stops spinning right when he answers the phone. The choreography...the detail.. is incredible. Even something simple in the beginning when he goes up to the mirror... takes off his hood and as he begins to sing... the mirror's angle is perfect on the slight movement to show the pianist playing in the background... I could go on an on, but.. just amazing. Genius really.
45:20 that’s the hero’s journey unfinished, right? It’s not about him getting what he wanted…. He never got to achieve what he needed. Self actualization. Appreciation of the simple things in life. Relationships. Love. There’s an episode of The Twilight Zone where a bank robber dies and he thinks he goes to heaven, where a man in a suit gives him everything he wants. Every robbery is devoid of excitement or uncertainty. Everyone agrees with him and he finds it impossible to connect with anyone - they all seem to be a kind of stepford wife, even the other men in his “gang”. He finds his life without meaning, and asks the suited man to go to “the other place”. He wants to go to hell. The twist at the end, of course, is that he’s already there.
The rain scene was a shot that they only had a single chance to get because they couldn't dry out Ren and the set to reshoot it so the violinist getting wet could have been a disaster if she reacted obviously when the machine malfunctioned and got her wet. Ren called her a hero for staying calm and risking her violin to the water and paid to have it restrung.

The perspective switch from live debut til now is that Ren's story telling was upgraded to a level of art, like ballet is art, the art of filling space with positions. In this case it's points of a life that has filled up the space of the building they were working in and in the end literally filling that space with water 😁. A great masterful song and the full breakdown of what we witnessed in a show of excellence. The wait was worth every second.

BTW, I heard that they had to buy the violinist a new bow or something due to the water damage. But she did amazing, she just stayed sat perfectly still. What a team player, eh? ... those violins are expensive so she was sure to be nervous.
