They don't make things like they use to lol. Mate rolled a car on the beach 1990. No windows left in it and looked like it had been in a banger race. Still managed to drive it home
@@garryyoung8945 yeah, those dang crumple zones absorbing and dissipating the crash energy. If only they'd left the cars as-is, sturdy steel boxes from the 70's and let the occupants bounce around like a pinball, it'd be a lot more fun 😏
Still can't believe they cancelled the PS3 Dirty Harry game. Imagine driving around an open-world San Francisco, blasting criminals with a high-powered magnum.
RIP Briggs RIP Early Smith RIP 'Red' Astrachan RIP Davis RIP Sweet RIP Grimes RIP Gangsters, (associates, and anything else that moved) at pool party RIP Carmine Ricca (& associates) RIP Frank Palancio (& associates) RIP Lou Guzman (& associates) RIP Charlie McCoy RIP Pimp RIP Prostitute RIP Hijackers RIP Store Robbers
Padded dashboards were mandated In the USA for model year 1968. This example appears to be a ‘70, with padded dash, per regulation. Still is uncomfortable lol
This was great to watch on VHS rental with 3 other movies but in 1990 if not earlier they showed their age , tempo - nothing relly connected this to current usa in any way - gone since 20 years at least . But now - they have more in them that the current batch of Hollywood makes ever could imagine
By what metric did you come by that conclusion..? Crime rate vs per capita citizenry ? Arrest records then vs arrest records now vs per capita citizenry ? Imprisonment statistics then vs imprisonment records now vs per capita citizenry ? Or.... some other means How did you come by such a statement?
Thats how it was in the 70s and 80s. A lot more People was at work and had more respect Not constantly off their faces on drugs and looking to rob anything for a fix like they are now. These days you cant trust nobody
Callahan and Briggs desperately needed some professional development courses, as their management/subordinate relationship was a bit on the unprofessional side.
Dang that car sure kicked Briggs ass. First he gets multiple mouthfuls of dashboard ala Harry. Then it blows his ass up. Should've walked away when he got thrown out.
What would have been hilarious is if Harry stopped the car right when he pulled it out and got out. They were driving by hundreds of people on the sidewalks. I doubt the Lieutenant would have shot him then.
they probably put some expertise into beating the car up enough to look fcked but still being driveable. or they fixed the machine after smashing it :D
Hal Holbrook was and remains one of the best and underrated actors of his generation. He will be greatly missed. But, at least he left behind a range of many fine performances.
@@floppabingussled : That said, I'd say he featured as the best antagonist who went up against Clint Eastwood's Harry Callahan - because Lt Neil Briggs is one who you'd least expect to be a villain, an air of respectability and morality is given, until he reveals his true colours - acting at it's best!.
Wasn't there a scene where the bad guy took his head off driving his car's windshield through a crane-suspended I-beam?...or am I confused with another Dirty Harry film?🤔
This movie really flew by the seat of its pants. Briggs should've just killed Harry when he had the chance, why take the risk of "prosecuting" him? What if Harry could prove Briggs was a dirty cop responsible for the vigilantes? And if he couldn't, how could Harry explain the bomb that blew Briggs to bits, or the three dead motorcycle officers? And if Briggs was telling the truth about there being more officers where the others came from, might they not also try to kill Harry in revenge? The whole SFPD would likely have to have been under investigation for quite a while one way or the other, from the chief on down by outside agencies like the FBI.
@@m42037 Maybe the Lieutenant knew that Harry was protected by plot armor and didn't have limitations. He might chew up those bullets and spit them at him. :) It does make some sense to not only have your opponent toss their gun but any reloads just to be thorough. Perhaps it was done to signal further to the audience that Harry was in a tough spot.
Callahan, I'm gonna give you to the count of saying your name, Callahan. Now I want you to listen and listen good. We can't have that kind of Callahan in our county, do you understand? We run a clean Callahan, not like the kind of thing you used to do in... Callahan, was it?
