This is because of the Bentz chamber. All .22LR barrels and firearms leaving the factory have this. A Sporter chamber can be installed if you reach out to Magnum Research. Steel Challenge shooters have this done so they can extract live rounds to show clear. Bentz chamber is for accuracy, but usually fails to extract live rounds.
That’s interesting. I had a similar problem. I bought a brand new Savage bolt action rifle 2 years ago. It would not extract a unfired round . As long as you shot the rifle it would extract and eject the spent casing. I read up on it and it was a common problem with the rifle. The rifle had less than 300 rounds put thru it. Savage sent me a new extractor and spring. It has ran fine so far this year. Makes you wonder if all extractors come from the same factory.
I can understand a match chamber having this issue but I have not experienced this with any of my other rifles that have a Bentz chamber like this one does. I continued to occasionally have this issue plus failure to feeds and sold it back to my LGS. My original non switch bolt is still running flawlessly.
@@22waysoutdoors the reason I say that is because in one of the manuals I have it says that unspent round may not eject. I think it was in the Tactical Solutions manual or kidd. I have a VQ carbon fiber VQ Stainless, kidd Supergrade, and a kidd 20in, a Tactical Solutions X-Ring Barrel a WhistlePig and two Acculites and a stainless Steel Champion In Bentz chamber and this will happen in at least half of them. I usually carry a screwdriver in my pocket to pop a shell out if it's FTF.
@@22guru I also read that but I have never experienced that with my Tactical Solutions or my non switch bolt Magnum Research. I was not comfortable using it as a hunting rifle and the occasional malfunction had cost me a few much needed follow up shots on squirrel. I just had to part ways with it. June 30th 2023: Have they fixed this issue yet? I would like to get the "red" one but for shelling out over a grand, I want the shells to come out with NO problems. I won't order one until I'm ready. I just really like the color.
Not sure. Mine still had intermittent extraction issues even after this. I sold it 5 weeks ago. My original Magnum Research ( non switch bolt ) runs flawlessly and I wouldn’t part with it for any amount of money.
