Magnum - The Battle. This great track appeared first on Magnums 2nd studio album Magnum II in 1979. It later appeared on the live album Marauder in 1980. Magnum started as a band around 1972 when they were the featured "House" band in a music venue. They began recording songs in 1974 which led to their debut album - Kingdom of Madness in 1978. Over 35 years on, Bobs voice has not really changed. I have no copyright on the song, lyrics, pictures or sleeve notes.

Fantastical heavy metal at a time when such music was brand new. I devour everything I find that is like this. Good d&d music.

A great track. Why have they ignored these great first two albums in their live sets since the mid-80's? ( apart from Kingdom Of Madness which they play every time).

Couldnt agree more tubeman. I heard that Tony dislikes the style on the first couple of albums and i think i may have read or heard that he may have called some of the lyrics pretencious??? I think hes wrong, the first five studio albums by magnum are Far superior to anything from last 5 albums. Its just an opinion but im glad i saw a lot of the old song way back when....

you mention their debut album was Kingdom of Madness.that was the name of Edguy's second album and what's else is ironic, is that Bob Catley the singer was a guest vocalist for Tobias Sammett on his avantasia side projects. Tobias is the singer of Edguy btw.
