Thanks a lot for adding the clock timers. Agad is already working hard to bring us free content. I think this adds some more to his plate. Extra thankful for your work
The offered queen sacrifice is beautiful, of course, but my favorite part of the game is actually at 3:45 with moves 13 through 15. You can see Magnus using a series of innocuous-looking pawn moves to gradually lure the Black queen onto his side of the board and away from the defense of the Black king. Once Shuvalova's queen is camped out on b3 (and looking rather silly), Magnus launches his attack. You love to see it.
From my perspective those moves were just a way to make room for castling while grabbing queenside space. A good example of why it's generally not a good idea to check without purpose or make a threat that your opponent can easily parry, here the queen work just gave Magnus extra time and space. If black wanted, they could have just moved the queen back to b6 and admit that the check was a mistake. But chess players don't do that.
It's very nice to have the clock. I have thought in the past that it would be nice to be able to see it on your videos, but figured it just was too much trouble.
Qd7 is much more beautiful, stunning move! Something more pleasing about giving the opponent the chance to capture the queen or decline it, either way you're getting checkmated.
Thanks for adding the clock! I've been your viewer since long before you got big, and this is the best addition to your video so far. With love, from India!
She is trapped, and of course capturing the queen would be game over. However, Magnus probably saw how his knight and his d-pawn could work together with his own queen to checkmate Black, and trapping a king is better than trapping a queen. And anyway, the Black queen is just sitting on b3 accomplishing nothing, while Magnus's queenside rook is very active and threatening along the a-file. Magnus went for the attack instead of snatching material, which is why he's the GOAT and we ... aren't. :)
To me, it was always enough if you mentioned the time pressure. I don't personally need to see the clock, evaluation bar, best proposed continuations, etc. I'm just here to enjoy the chess
I think the clock is a good addition when it's possible to have it. In my opinion you will feel the tension more, but you notice it mostly when it's just 30 second on the clock or 10 seconds on the clock. Also you know you lost the game when Magnus offers you his queen :) Thank you for the game Antonio! I've been watching your games for a long tine since the channel was really small. Always a pleasure.
I'm a caro-kann player and someone played this against me yesterday. I managed to win but I was lucky. I have to study this since I feel I'm gonna see it a lot in the next few months
@@dark_magician_sdy not sure what you mean. It's a great opening, even used at the top level. It's a common defense by Alireza. Maybe you dislike playing against it?
That was a crushing drive forward by Magnus, and Polina did her best but was overwhelmed. It is a small feeling on her side of the board when a giant sits on the other side, gobbling your pieces and flicking away your attacks like worrisome flies.
Hey Agad; Having seldom studied openings but instead playing hundreds if not thousands of different caro-kann games as black, I can tell you that taking any pawn that makes it that far with the f pawn almost always goes badly for black in the Caro-Kann. There are lines I've encountered where the f pawn can break against certain other pawns, but not like that. 😄 Seriously! Nice video btw. 🙂
Hello Agad. Thanks for the clock timer. Please do not even add the engine evaluation bar on the side next to your games. When other channels include that I find it deeply distracting from the chess itself and it also defeats the purpose of the viewer attempting to evaluate the position for themselves. You are the best chess channel on RU-vid! Cheers
Clock feature is a great addition. For me, it's just a little distracting when it flashes to white. Maybe if both clocks were always the dark color with light numbers, and not flashing to white?
I am the happiest person in the world now after losing 3 games on lichess coz it's really a big deal to me to see my man Magnus coming back in his actual blood thirsty avatar. Thank you Agad for making my day. If Magnus is winning I am the happiest.
Haha the g8 Bishop(and h8 rook) didn't even move the whole game. What a pwnage. The e6 pawn push was a really poisoned pawn, but not really since I guess they had no other option since not taking it is even worse than not and playing something else..
Someone posted the position on Twitter and I found the same move Magnus did. I then checked the engine and it did prefer Qd7. I saw that move but didn't really understand what it accomplished until the engine told me. I assumed it was too slow, but I was wrong
