In this video Magnus Carlsen STUNS Gukesh D with an explosive rook sacrifice in the 2024 Warsaw Rapid & Blitz Tournament. This rook sacrifice by Magnus Carlsen was absolutely crazy, and it left Gukesh D and the entire chess world in complete shock!
In the game Gukesh D opens with 1.e4 and heads straight for the Italian Game with 3.Bc4, but Magnus Carlsen was the first to shock Gukesh with a crazy move in the Fried Liver Attack! From there the game gets explosive with Magnus Carlsen sacrificing a pawn to gain the bishop pair and long-term attacking chances against Gukesh D's kingside, while Gukesh did his best to defend against Magnus Carlsen's raging attack.
The game reached a climax when Magnus Carlsen literally sacrificed his rook on the e3 square, getting only a knight and further attacking chances in return!

12:29 In this position - the Bishop just takes the Horse, pwn takes and Queen takes and treaten next move - Mat. So King start to escape, but losing the roock too. I think there Magnus had to take with the Bishop and win the game.

Magnum was actually blocking Qe8+ with that move as he said. May be bc6 was the best in the position

In my opinion the 'Fright Liver Attack' is ONLY, if black answers white´s exd5 with ...Nxd5?! and white answers then with Nxf7 (or maybe postponed after white plays d4 before)

Fred liver gambit is e4-e5, Nf3-Nf6, Bc4- Nc6, white then plays Ng5 forcing pd5 white then plays pawn takes pawn forcing black to play Nd5, white plays Nf7 forcing the king to take because it has double attack on queen and rook white plays Qf3 check if black moves back to e8 then bd5 and Qf7 checkmate and the other if they move to g8 Bd5 forcing the queen to take white plays Qd5 check and black has to block with the bishop d6 and Qd6 is checkmate. It’s part of the Italian game by white it can also be kings pawn or king pawns opening

Nice engagement trap. But you know good and darn well that was not a rook sac, it was an exchange sac. Same thing with the queen too. Nice trick pretending not to know the difference in order to gain engagement though. Lol.

Qa5 was clearly a mistake. Carlsen is aiming all his pieces at the kingside, so Gukesh puts his most powerful piece on the queenside? Stoopid. I've seen a few games like this reecntly, with top grandmasters making mistakes I wouldn't. Getting your queen away from the action which is clearly about to take place on the kingside? Doesn't make any sense to me. I would have played Qf5, which gets the queen into the defence, and offers a queen trade, with an existing advantage of one pawn. Still a hard game for Gukesh, because Carlsen has the bishop pair, but surely its better than what follows.
