Hmmm... From what I understood during the time this and other Magpul weapons were being developed they where only intended for research and development purposes. Magpul themselves didn't have any desire to produce the weapons considering that wasn't what they did and they did very well with just making parts for the AR-15 and other weapon platforms. Only reason the Magpul Masada (Bushmaster/Remington ACR) was because Remington paid for the rights to produce the weapon and did so.
@@lemniscatelogos7917 probably if someone hasn't already done so. I know they sold an airsoft version of it so at least the rights to it's likeness is licensed to someone else.
@@lon242 They are out of production since like 6 or 7 years. Last time I saw them in a shop here in Germany was then. Now they rarely appear on the used market for big money.
The PDR wouldn't have replaced the m4. If it were to be made today it might replace any sub guns the military uses. So the mp5, mp7, apc 9, etc. I could also see it being used by law enforcement, the secret service, and other security agencies and entities. By the way, a modern version would shoot 300 BLK, not 556. As for the m4. The m4/AR/m16 family of guns is far, far more versatile. With barrel lengths down to 5.5 inches with the rattler lt and the ability to punch out to 1000 yards with 6 arc. I'm not sure it will ever be replaced. Even the xm5 is still an AR10 based platform. It would take a radically divergent shift in tech to unseat the AR. Maybe case-less, magnetically triggered, rounds. Maybe the proliferation of gauss rifles.

8:49 since when is the us army replacing the m4 with hk416. I mean some special operations units use hk 416s but its only in small amounts. The army recently adopted the m5 carbine in limited amounts but still their plan for the near future is to use m4 and m5 at the same time. So m4 is still in use and its not going to be phased out any time soon.
@@VuNamVEVO you are right i completely forgot about the m27 but marines are marines and the army is the army. I think that the change from m4/m16 to m27 was motivate mor by change of doctrine and structural changes in the marine corps rather than m4 becoming obsolete.
Yup. Fewer rounds, but better cartridge, and no need for a different cartridge. Perfect for vehicle crews and support troops, or for situations that would call for an SMG. Although I'm curious about how it worked with the Grendel round.
Itd be interesting to try it, . Could see specialized uses for it and ambidextrous is nice. If it used standard existing mags even better. Although... imo it is truley hideous and would require retraining. The cost doesnt outwieght the benifits for all but specialized use.
If they sell the design to PSA, it could happen. Easy swap barrel change to 300 blk, Do a 9mm version using scorpion mags or colt, sell for under 1300. It will be a hit. Anything magpul sells or design is always a hit
CAUTION, Magpul dose not stand behind their products and will not issue a replacement, refund, or even a partial credit for manufactures defects on items that they sell. If it is defective you are stuck with it. Go with anything other than Magpul!!! Magpul products have defects and falls apart!
@@Kai-ky6tf This was the first and last quality issue that I had with Magpul. I used to bleed Magpul, wore their hats and t-shirts daily. They should have paid me for the advertising and product recommendations. I have purchased thousands of dollars on Magpul products for my AR15, AR10, SGA, slings, sights, apparel, hats, gloves, belt, decals, and probably more than a thousand dollars on mags and drums alone. 95% of the products were bought through the Magpul website. So they know exactly how much I have spent. I purchase two pair of summit shooting sunglasses and literally had them fall apart while wearing them. I have other sunglasses that are 25 years old and they haven't fallen apart. Magpul has admitted that it is a manufactures defect but refused to replace, refund, discount, or even give me a partial credit. They said “glue them back together. LOL….. Magpul would rather loose a life long loyal customer over a few dollars. They are idiots in my opinion. This is why I will never purchase anything form Magpul ever again. Magpul needs to take some customer service notes from Vortex Optics. They truly value their customers and know how to treat every customer. How was that for spouting off the TRUTH.
