Thanks to Brownells Joel had the opportunity to test and evaluate the new Magpul Pro 700 Chassis system. This is part one where he drops in a remington 700 barreled action in 223, mounts the provided Steiner 4-16x56 optic, and talks about the features of this product. Part two is shooting the complete rifle out to 600 yards to test accuracy and function of the chassis.

The Burris XTR Signature ring inserts are not for different scope tube sizes. They are for changing MOA cant on the scope, 0-40 MOA of adjustment. I agree they can be alittle tricky, but are nice if you are looking to maximize all of the elevation out of the scope.

Joel, as always great video. I really like your honest feedback on those rings because it seems like a great idea to have those mushy inserts but I’m glad that you provided your experience with that. I really will be interested to see how this price point works out with the competition. MDT, XLR, KRG and a couple others. MDT especially has all those features and many options and inletted for every action. Biggest surprise was the weight. Being that heavy really makes it only a competition chassis that you would most likely never want to take hunting. But is does look really well built. Can’t wait to see you shoot it!!

Pro 700 @$1,000 compared to similar chassis: KRG Whiskey 3 folding stock $1299 USD / MDT Tac 21 $699 + $149 CAD folding stock adaptor / MDT ESS with folding stock $849 CAD/ AICS AT M700 $1238 USD. None of those chassis have the option of ambidexterity or are possibly as adjustable as the Pro 700. If you put aside the Magpul typical price point I think the Pro 700 is a great deal and (short of it being free) I was happy pay $769 USD for mine from Brownells when they first came out.

Seems a bit flashy tbh. You could spend WAAAAAY less money and get equivalent results. For instance I have a 15 year old factory certified Weatherby vanguard MOA Fiberguard 30-06 I topped with a Swarovski 10x hunting scope. All in all its a $2,400 setup which is what you'll expect to pay for a decent rifle. It's not Anything special, nothing fancy just a 15 year old hunting setup. But with that said that rifle is certified from the factory to shoot 1/4" groups at 100yds, AND IT DELIVERS! What I'm saying is put your money where it matters. You don't have to get a $1,000 chassis to shoot good.

Precision Rifle Network I’m not disappointed. In a time where there is tons of controversy over reviews due to corporate support it would be nice to see a non bias review or answer to the question in the title. I am also NOT saying it’s wrong to have sponsors, but in this case, with a brand new product, it would be nice to see actual results from testing. The precision rifle world is very different than any other firearm sport...it’s expensive and requires quality equipment. Reviews are to educate the public about the product and whether they should purchase it or not based on their budget or needs.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork
@PrecisionRifleNetwork 5 лет назад
jacobs akcat I agree and therefore will never be a shill. I gave my honest opinion of these products. Completely hated the rings which actually came up in an email to me from Brownells. They didn’t appreciate that. I also said the chassis was overpriced. So for future reference, if I say I like a thing, I mean I highly recommend it. If I say I hate a thing, I mean it’s worthless. In this case I stayed somewhere in the middle, unbiased, because I neither loved nor hated the chassis or optic.

The inserts on the Burris rings are awesome if you have a flat picatinny Mount with the correct spaces in the Rings you can add up to 25 Moa cant on the scope for long-range Precision application this is what they are for but I guess because you got them for nothing you would not know that
@PrecisionRifleNetwork

Joe Johnson I know all about them now, and I won’t recommend them to anyone. They are the lowest quality option for people who don’t know any better. Not a single serious competitor in the PRS uses them and I would wager, not a single Mil/LE sniper uses them. There’s a reason for that. #junk

Why get this when you can buy a SIG Cross, Q, Ruger PR or similar aluminum rifle? The Remington 700 is probably one of the most ordinary and unimpressive actions out there. It's not "bad", but there is nothing great about it in anyway to write home about. I mean I'll take a Howa or Savage any day over a Rem 700.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork
@PrecisionRifleNetwork 10 месяцев назад
You're right. I'm guessing you didn't notice how old this video was? Also even when I made this video years ago, I did not recommend the Magpul. Still wouldn't recommend it. I really like the Sig Cross and recommend it highly.
@dwightlooi
@dwightlooi 10 месяцев назад
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork Actually, no, I wasn't paying attention to the date! The CROSS is great except for the single column mag which cannot be press loaded, from the port or removed. The Q is probably the best given its use of the SR25/LR308 double stack mags which is also conveniently shared with the 308 ARs that many shooters may also own in addition to their lightweight bolt gun. That said, it's 3 grand before any extras.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork
@PrecisionRifleNetwork 10 месяцев назад
@@dwightlooi I love the way the Q looks, but I can't trust it. Too many stories out there about quality control issues. I don't mind the cross mags.
