I have a 1635L and it did exactly that today while I was shifting to a higher gear. Something I have done for years but it locked in the middle just as yours did. Thank you for that great information. I too love my tractor and would buy it again. Thanks for the information.

I've had my 1526 for years and never had this issue until last week. Thanks to your video, it's working again.

Mine did the same thing today, 1526, thanks for the advise. My previous tractor was an old Massie Furguson that did the same thing, the cure was to open the transmission filler hole , stick a long screwdriver in and rattle it around, fixed it.

Well I have one not even a year old that did this. I THINK, the is why people in the Mahindra field tell you to switch gears only when stopped. 2nd method. Keep a cresent wrench handy, though a purpose built tool would be better, open the jaws as wide as the dog, slide it over the dog and gently move the dog in line with the gear shift handle. Keep the wrench handy in case it happens again. Engineering-wise, a piece of metal attached to the gear shift handle should Keep the dog from getting out of alignment in the first place.

1538 does same thing, happened twice and that's how I fixed it; I've learned to shift in a way that avoids the slipping out.

I've often wondered about the quality of these little tractors. We have a Branson dealer in our town. Some neat looking little tractors at a reasonable price. Glad to see you got the problem fixed. Just one more thing a good hammer will fix! :)

My tractor is at 1533 same set up 33 horse engine I went through the same trouble one time but mine got stuck in I think in TWO gears at once because I was going crossways on my old tire tracks my front wheel was up the side of a 6 inch dried mud track a little bit of an inclines in front of it and I shifted the gear but it didn’t go all the way in it got stuck in THAT IN BETWEEN SPACE couldn’t move the tractor or the gear Shift lever! eventually I wish I PAID more attention how I actually got it out but it popped out and it’s been working fine ever since I’ve done mostly back hoe work say 4 ft deep …50 ft long I DROVE OVER TO GET THE STONE I started to go down a little bank in front of the house and BANG big loud noise and THE REAR END WAS LOCKED ….. SKIDDED ABOUT A FOOT the high and low gear shifter WAS SLAMMED INTO NEUTRAL the rear end locked up no way to get it out couldn’t make it move I called the dealer they came and got it on a flatbed😢 my tractor has 38 something hours on it and the dealer is telling me that the rear end is all apart and that the repairs may EXCEDE $15,000. I paid 15 grand for the tractor with 310 hours on it with a bucket loader, back hoe, a box grader and a rock bucket and I’ve use the tractor for

at least a hammer can fix this problem and it's not some crazy software or firmware issue ...

That's going to continue to be a problem as the joints wear and things get some play. You shouldn't get a mis shift like that because a rough road. Your right that is poor engineering...or is it typical?
