5 minute no BS (some bs) hydraulic oil change of the front axle and transmission. I wont talk your ear off too bad. Just sit back and enjoy the gallons of high pressure knowledge in a short period of time.
Changing out the Hydraulic Fluid in my Mahindra 1626 HST Tractor. Process is the same for the 1526 Series.
Socket sizes needed:
12mm, 14mm, 19mm, and the drain plug on the front axle is over 22mm(all I had on hand), so I ended up using a crescent wrench.
Front axle takes 4.2qts / 4.0 liters
Transmission on the HST takes 36 qts / 34 liters
Transmission on the Shuttle Shift takes 35 qts / 35 liters

What type of hydraulic fluid do you use for the 1626l tractor ?

Great video, thanks for the good info. I have 2 buckets of Mahindra Hydro Fluid Sitting here ready to put in. The dealer informed me to run 80-90 Gear Oil in the front Axle, said the hydro fluid wasn't up to snuff for a 4WD axle.

@@CorMorse Nope, just north of the border in Canada but just purchased a used mahindra from John Blazey's in Palmyra and it came from Gary's originally. Just strange that the first video I watched had that same Gary's sticker on it.

My tractor guy say tractor hydraulic fluid for these things have oil in the fluid to prevent damage to gaskets!

Thats interesting. I dont think the manual mentions anything like this, it just gives you specifics on which brands/types of hydro fluid to use. That being said, the color on my first change was kind of weird, almost like it came from the factory with a dye in it or something. The fluid was greenish yellow as normal, but once drained, the top of the pan had a darker film to it.

So the hydraulic fluid in my shadow shift is the same lubricant that moves the rear end? Right on top of the rear end from the back there’s a half inch plug and I have no idea why they would put it there unless you were meant to put fluid in it? I’m learning

I'm not sure about shuttle shifts. Going by what the manual says, I would say yes, as it says "Oil Type: Hydraulic Transmission Fluid" under both Gear Drive and Hydrostatic Drive. It also shows a picture of the same dipstick where your feet are, directly in front of the seat, being used for both types as well. Next time I'm up at the barn (and remember) I'll take a look and see if I have the same thing. Could be a breather cap though, as you never want to fully seal the system off. Sorry for the long delay, just been pretty busy.

Thanks for the video! Good info! I just did my 50 hour on the same tractor as yours. The hydraulic fluid was green (like yours was). Do you know if this is normal for the factory hydraulic fluid on a 1626 HST?

From my understanding the hydraulic fluid from the factory has a dye in it. Glad the video helped!

Juat bought a 1626 manidra tractor and and after each use, it leaks hyralic oil. It seems like it comming from the hyralic lines. Is this normal? The tractor is a 2020 year model. This is my second time i will be taking back to the dealership.

Yeah that aint normal. Can you identify where the leak is coming from? Ive got around 180hrs on my tractor and have replaced o-rings at the quick connections multiple times. Im sure they tear up mostly from overloading the FEL. There's a harbor freight o-ring kit that I use. I cant recall the exact size of it, but the kit is cheap enough to buy it just for the one size that fits.

My 2020 1626 hst did the same. I just tightened it down and washed it off and no more leaks

I been having a problem with my hydrolics all of a sudden. Any time i liftes the loader or the 3 point hitch, it stutters kind of like there is a clog or air in the system. It works, but it stutters. There is obviously and issue. I bought the tractor used and im not sure if the initial service got done. I need to go back outside and check the amount of hours on it. I hope the pump aint going bad. 1626 Hydro

I wish I knew more about tractors to help you out, but it almost sounds like an engine problem. Since the hydraulics pull power from the engine, if the engine isn't running as good as it should, id assume you'd get some sort of chugging or hesitation. Id start by replacing all filters, but after that... idk.

I would check fluid level. When a hydraulic is used, it pulls fluid from a reservoir so if the fluid is low, it will suck air and stutter. Best way to see this is with a hydraulic vehicle lift. Watch the reservoir when the lift is up and when it comes down. Also check for leaks wherever you park it. 36 hours isn't much, but anything can happen. If you park on dirt the easiest way to check is put cardboard under it.

Is this for the 50hr service? I'm pretty sure in the manual for my 1526 it just says to change the filters and the front axle fluid

Yes. I dont have the manual right in front of me but I believe its for the 50 and every 250 after.

@@CorMorse I checked the 1526 manual ..it says to replace tranny filter an hydraulic filter at 50hrs... First hydro fluid change is at 200hrs according to the manual. That would be some bullshit if they made you buy ~14 gallons of hydro fluid after just 50hrs ... Heres the paragraph for 50hr maintenance: Transmission Oil Check the level of the transmission oil. Add the specified fluid as needed to maintain proper level. See Transmission Oil Level (Gear Drive) or Transmission Oil Level (Hydrostatic Drive) in this manual

@@KrustyQuad Hey sorry it took so long to get back to you, my Mahindra binder was up at the barn. The maint hours shows "Transmission oil" every 300hrs, and first time:50. Same description for Hydrostatic System Filter, and Hydraulic Filter. "MFD-Front Axle Lubricant" Is also 300hrs and first time 50. As far as smoother, it still makes a few mins to warm up, but no real difference I dont think.

Right next to the dipstick located by your feet. Kind of a pain in the butt to fill

@@CorMorse “right next to”…? Or do you mean the same hole on the floor between my feet with the cap that says “oil” and has a dipstick attached to it? There is nothing else down there except for the single cap/dipstick that says “oil” on it. I saw someone else ask about the 1/2” plug/nut above the PTO, nothing goes in there?

@@2dollab178 Hmm, I don't have my tractor right in front of me, but on my 1626 hst I'm pretty sure there's a separate dipstick. Either way, that cap is for the hydraulic system, which is separate from the front axle.

@@CorMorse oh gotcha, I have the 1626 shuttle, maybe there’s a difference in that regard. How about that 1/2” square nut/plug above the PTO in the rear? Do you have one of those on your HST and if so, do you know what it’s for?
