Mahindra 4550 and concrete removal

I was working on digging a ditch with the Mahindras front end loader but came to a spot where there was old concrete in the way. So I broke as much as I could with a sludge hammer but one piece was to large and thick. I ended up lifting it up with a 3 ton floor jack a little at a time and supporting it with blocks until it was high enough to lift and push with the tractor.

Forks may of worked too...........but I might actually buy some forks for the tractor because they are very handy to lift stuff around my property. Thanks for watching

Buys fourwheel drive tractor...dosnt use fourwheel drive🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
@prasenjitsarkar138
@prasenjitsarkar138 4 года назад
when you put your vehicle on 4 w drive the total power of the engine gets equally divided into 4 tires so the power per wheel gets reduced that's why tractors was not moving you fool

I can't believe you stuck your head under that bucket with all that weight leaning against it. If that thing gave way, you would be a pancake. Just because you moved from the city and got a shiny red tractor doesn't mean you can take risks like that. I think next time you should rent a jack hammer and pulverize that concrete. Get a small one that runs off of compressed air. I got off a Bobcat years ago with the bucket up and loaded with concrete, I darted under it and as soon as did I felt something nick my back. It was the whole thing coming down. I didn't realize you can't do that. I got lucky that day. I learned my lesson to think before I act, from that and a few other stupid things I did. I would hate to see something like that happen to you my man.

Yeah I know it wasn't a smart thing to get those blocks out of there the way I did. But I figured the cement slab was straight up and the tractor was there just in case it started to fall back my way. I looked up every time I got the cement blocks out. I like the jack hammer idea........next time. Thanks for your comment.

I was a mechanic for John Deere and have been around heavy equipment in the oil field and farm equipment all my life. I think the dealer should have explained the functions of the tractor better. Might be a good idea to read the manual and familiarize yourself with the tractor functions

+Rdrake1413 It's my first tractor and a learning experience, it will take some time. But it's still better than not using the tractor :)
@Rdrake1413
@Rdrake1413 8 лет назад
Yeah I kinda figured it was your first tractor an even better reason you should read the manual. Not only will there be information on the tractors functions and how to operate it but also very important safety information.

while working and tractor stuck on two tyres just use def lock to utilize the full power of engine

Yes I was new to the tractor and forgot to use the differential lock.
@tonygregg8165
@tonygregg8165 8 лет назад
On the right side of the seat, behind the foot throttle, there is another bar sticking up. That is a differential lock that will lock the two rear tires so that they both turn. If you get in a situation where one rear tire is spinning, place your foot on that differential lock and push down. It will make both rear tires pull at the same speed. Also, the item you called the cruise control is not a cruise control...its the throttle. The foot throttle is meant for momentary throttle adjustments, but the main throttle is designed to set the engine speed for normal use. You really want to pay attention to the RPM. The RPM on that engine shouldn't ever really go over 2000 RPM. Set your hand throttle to 1000-1500 RPM when using your front end loader and doing work, and the tractor will operate much smoother than trying to use that foot throttle all the time. Your learning, and good work!
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
+Tony Gregg Thanks for the info on the differential lock, that would of been easier than putting blocks under the wheels, and the hand throttle lever I call cruise control when I cut grass :) but setting the hand throttle for the front end loader is a good idea......Thanks

Hi Pete you also have independent brakes which would have worked well in that situation, rather than putting blokes under the wheel.

Pete, I've not experienced any clutch chatter, but when trying to shift into reverse it doesn't seem to go all the way into reverse. I bought the 4025 4WD new in 2012, and it's always been difficulty going all the way into reverse. Jay
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
+Jay Allenbrand Mine goes in reverse OK but I have to keep re-checking if it actually did because I can't feel that "click" very good when it does.
@alandredske2369
@alandredske2369 7 лет назад
Peter, you should have brought a hydrostatic transmission. For what you are doing it would have worked much better all around! You need to have the linkage checked and adjusted so it goes properly into reverse. Be careful and stay safe, it's not a toy .
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 7 лет назад
Alan Dredske Thanks, I ended up trading in that tractor for a Mahindra 5555 with the synchronized shuttle drive transmission, way better then the manual non synchronized trans. I'll be doing review on that tractor soon.

Good show. You seem to be learning like I did with my 4025. To add to Tony's comment, one needs to avoid tool little rpm as well as too much. One other thing of importance; don't ride (slip) the clutch. I sure enjoy your videos. Jay
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
+Jay Allenbrand Thanks, Yes I am learning and I know not to ride the clutch but I did notice that when I was backing up the clutch would chatter, but it did it when it was hot, it doesn't do it when its cold.

I was wondering if it had the diff lock lever. I just looked at this model yesterday at the dealer. how do you like it so far? any pros and cons?
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
+badas95Z Yes it does have a differential lock but of course I forgot all about it when I was spinning two wheels. I love the tractor because you get a lot of tractor for the money. I do wish it had the hydro-static transmission because it's much easier when using the front end loader when going from forward to reverse but that's ok, it's just one less thing to fix :)
@troywilburn2548
@troywilburn2548 8 лет назад
+Pete B. You did good getting the shuttle drive. The Hydrostatic drive in comparison doesn't have quite the power the shuttle drive has. They are a little easier to operate, tho. In sure you've already gotten the hang of it by now. Also, the box blade you have on the back is the perfect implement to dig a ditch. Adjust the angle for the slope you want, drop it, and take off. Instead of moving the dirt bucket at a time, you'll be able to drive the length of the road. The ditch would most likely have been cut in two passes. Nice tractor tho. I didn't need one that big and picked up the 1526 a few weeks ago. It's definitely a powerhouse. I could only imagine the power yours has. Nice video, homie.
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
You're right about the the hydrostatic transmission, much easier to operate but not as powerful. But I really wish that these tractor companies would synchronize reverse and first gear, it would make using the front loader much easier. I tried to use the box blade to dig the ditch but it didn't work, couldn't get it to dig deep enough. Congratulation on the new tractor, they're sure nice to have around the property.
@petebeasttexashomesteading
@petebeasttexashomesteading 8 лет назад
I wish I would have known that the 5500 series had the synchronized trans, but I was also trying to stay below $30,000.00 But it looks like the 5500 series was just a few thousand more.:(
@hitekjohnson
@hitekjohnson 8 лет назад
if you want to use the box blade to dig,,, you have to lower the shanks so they rip the ground up, and it also works better if you put some weight on top of it,, like concrete blocks etc,, but even then, the ground needs to be pretty soft to do any good
