Dive into a world where motors run non-stop without overheating, where rare earth magnets are a thing of the past, and power transmission occurs without contact! Enter Mahle's SCT (Superior Continuous Torque) motor-a potential game-changer in the electric vehicle industry!
Mahle, a renowned auto parts supplier with a legacy dating back to 1920, claims to have crafted the 'perfect motor'. But what makes it so special? From its revolutionary magnet-free design to its unique cooling system that promises unyielding performance, this motor might just rewrite the rules of electric propulsion.
With concerns over the limited supply and environmental impact of rare earth metals predominantly sourced from China, the SCT motor offers a breath of fresh air. And it doesn't stop at just being environmentally friendly; the performance gains, compact design, and cost savings make this innovation a win-win.
Mahle's vision for 2027-2028 paints a picture of mass production and an EV landscape that's sustainable, efficient, and resilient. So, are we on the brink of an EV revolution? Watch the video to unpack the marvels of the SCT motor and Mahle's bold claims!

What a strange collection of non-related random animations...

Well - it's, you know, motors, isn't it?

Why, while discussing oil cooling @4:29, are we shown a diesel engine that isn't mentioned at all? Why, repeat the permanent magnet thing 4 times during the video. Really. It's true: we got it the first time. Editing. It'a thing. Otherwise, I do hope that this claimed motor will come into production if it works as described.

Aptera is using the current iteration of Mahle’s in-wheel motors. Hoping this improved design can be offered as an upgrade to existing vehicles (albeit an expensive upgrade) if/when produced.

Now we just need batteries that don't incinerate. And maybe new power grid...

In this clip the audio is not related to the images. Total rubbish. Probably created by marketing people that have no idea what they talk about and approved by a manager that is even dummer.

Even the concept is no different than the good old induction motor. May be they are hiding the novelty as a trade secret

This sounds a lot like the hollow rotor induction motor Tesla used 10 years ago.

Should we all pretend that motors were are the issue with EVs and not batteries?

If the claimed 15% efficiency gain is true, then it helps the battery side as well.

It is just a pinned radial motor. If they want to advance then they should offer axial motors.

Has regenerative breaking left the chat?

we keep hearing this like hydrogen if it was such a good idea it would be in production by now dream dream dream

Unfortunately it's one of them things. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is...

I don't understand why half of the video shows animations of combustion motors. This is some kind of nonsense.

How is this motor more efficient than Tesla's, which also exceeds 95%? Rare-earth metals are not rare, just restricted to mine/refine for politics. This video criticizes their use SIX times, as if not using them is a major breakthrough. It's not. Batteries are the key for traditional designs, but NOT Aptera. It is a paradigm shift in efficiency.

Sounds like a good concept. But it also sounds like it uses more electricity in order to power the electromagnets. For EVs, it's the heavy batteries that are the big drawback. So as of today; EVs are not "Green"! And in fact, cost the Earth more energy to push around, than gas-powered vehicles, due to their heavy batteries. Making EVs the opposite of "Green".
@JRP3

You didn't understand the technology. And no EV's are not the "opposite of green", they are so much more efficient even if they weigh a bit more they still take less energy to move. Plus the fact that for example a Tesla Model 3 weighs almost the same as a BMW 3 series.

@@JRP3 E=MC²... Ever heard of it? Take Ford F150s It is a great example because there are both electric and gas-powered models. The EV F150 is 2500 pounds heavier than the gas-powered truck. Do you comprehend? 2500LBs is not a "bit more" it's a lot more. I own a Toyota Prius. It is a Hybrid vehicle that makes a lot more sense. Because it produces its own electricity. By the time you get the electricity to a charger to charge an EV, you have already lost 20 - 30% in line dropage and coil heat. Until batteries become 80% lighter than they are today. EVs are not GREEN! PERIOD! Also... Solar Panels (S.P.) and Wind Generators (W.G.) are not "GREEN" either. Why? Because there has never been invented an S.P. or W.G. that can produce more than 80% of the energy it took to make them. Grow a mind. And quit being a sap.

@@captaincobb8146 Thank you for clearly exposing your ignorance for everyone to see. You don't know what you're talking about, plenty of studies clearly show that EV's are more efficient and far cleaner, grid line loss is about 7%, batteries charge around 94% efficiency, solar panels and wind turbines make up the energy used to create them in only a few years of operation. Basically everything you said is just plain wrong. Google the Yale EV study, I dare you, and you can read just how foolish you are.
