Can't tell you how many times I've listened to that glorious moment at 4:10. It's one of my favorite musical moments of all time, and I've never heard it performed as spectacularly as the Gergiev/LSO recording. Love it!

4:00 - 4:31 one of my favorite parts of the whole symphony. Never heard an ensemble play it quite like Gergiev/LSO do here.

It's a trumpet in F part. That means you've got to play a fifth up transposing it on a B-flat horn.

it could just be me, but in this video and in part 1, it seems as if the sheet music up in the corner that they show as he is playing is actually written and octave lower than the notes he's playing. Could someone let me kno?

Is David Pyatt using a triple horn in this performance? If so, what brand is he using and is he still using one?

@ThinkOriginalThought Never mind, that was just his sound. Yes, the part is written in F so he's transposing. Mahler liked to do that.

2:41 he cut the long note short (dotted whole note tied to the dotted quarter)

There's a reason he is a Princiapl player. Dynamic! Elliott Oppenheim, Trilllium BRass Trio
