this is such a gem, for small chamber orchestra, an absolute exceptional transcription and an impeccable execution of the performers, which doesn't betray at all the spirit and the design intent of the music written for a large symphonic orchestra. Well done!

Excellent performance! This transcription and the Stein harken to composers like Ries and his treatment of the Beethoven symphonies. A pleasure to listen to!

Superb performance. So much pressure on each player and they excel!

(Apologies for the late reply) Thank you so much! We had a lot of fun performing this, also with everything we've done sine we've relished the challenge of bridging the gap between symphonic- and chamber music. More to come in the future!

What a great 'arrangement' this is, and what a fine performance, an antidote to some of the rather thick, creamy, suffocating performances available on RU-vid. The undermining element of 'parody' comes through very effectively, and such expressive solos... I loved it. It went down well on a wintry morning before breakfast. Many thanks to all involved.

(Apologies for the very late reply..) Thank you so much for your kind message, what a piece it is indeed! So glad you enjoyed our version of Mahlerian "parody", as a group it was so refreshing to go against our musical instincts and attempt to create something new and fresh. More to come soon - hope that you'll join us then!

Thank you to the performers for posting this. Really really enjoyable transparency and clarity, the strange dazed character of the piece shines through beautifully.

Thank you so much! Really appreciate your kind words - in my opinion the challenge with performing this small version isn't how to make it sound like the original, but how to characterise what we have and maximise its effect to make something new. So glad that you liked what came of it!

The young conductor is bringing out such geniality, playfulness, spirit,, love, and insight on par with a seasoned master. The playing is gorgeous.

The singer has that turkey sound in some of her tones like Callas did.

A very good performance. Obviously not the Stein/Platt arrangement (which does not include french horn and bassoon). The use of an accordion rather than a harmonium seems to work just fine however.

Thank you so much! Personally I love the variety of colours that this version provides, plus with this sized ensemble it’s easier to bring out the more unpredictable and even grotesque colours that the music calls for. As for the accordion, I love it because firstly it’s audible; but also the motion of it gives a more natural visual sense of how the music breathes. 10/10 I recommend for these arrangements!
