This is the marriage of Maestro Christoph Eschenbach with composer Gustav Mahler... Such a lovely couple 👫... Love relationships... And the SinfonicadeGalicia is playing in their ceremonial uninion - merging them into ONE... I am sitting, excitedly paralyzed, not possible to move my eyes (Christoph's bizarre, fantastically heuristic body language, exuberance) and ears (clarity, rich sound of the orchestra, conveying Mahler's spiritual sounding, unbelievable moving motifs, authentically genius orchestration) from the beautiful couple... bursts of tears here and there (when I cannot stand to the divinity of the moment, or the unfathomable depth of emotion)... taking one treat, and another... No end... mesmerized... What a wedding party 🎉... Love you guys!

What a magnificent performance of Mahler's 5th. Just Outstanding. This to me has to be the best performance of all, and I've heard a lot of recordings of his 5th symphony. Fabulosa interpretación de la 5ª del divino Mahler. Christoph Eschenbach conduce a los músicos de la Sinfónica de Galicia por los fecundos y complicados vericuetos de esta partitura grandiosa, a veces profundamente paradójica. Todo está expresado, en mi opinón, en su justa medida: velocidad, ritmo, altura, profundidad, melodía y disonancias. El metal es magnífico, con músicos excelentes que se dejan dirigir hasta la perfección. El viento es aéreo, cósmico, acompaña el sentimiento del espíritu que recorre las esferas de la emoción sin detenerse en contradicciones inútiles. Todo fluye maravillosamente de los brazos, las manos y la mente de este grandísimo director que arrastra, como una pleamar imparable en sus acometidas y retiradas, la ejecución puntillosa de una orquesta entregada, perfectamente ensamblada, respetuosa con el alma de Mahler y también con su dicción exquisita y el contenido intelectual de altísimo nivel que nos transmite, desde los abismos del dolor a las cumbres del éxtasis. I've been listening to this symphony for 40 years and this orchestra has brought a magnificent new light into my experience. What a fantastic performance, far excelling those I've heard over the years - a new dynamic, an anst I've only dreamt of. A truly Mahler experience I've not heard before!

A very good performance indeed ! Not until recently has Mahler been considered the greatest symphony composer of all time ! His 10 symphonies are among the greatest by any composer in history! Such amazing brilliance for a man who only lived 51 years. His symphony no 1 and 5 and 7 really hit the mark as well as the others too !!!!!

Orchestra superiore a quelle francesi con cui Eschenbach di solito esegue Mahler.... lettura molto coinvolgente e con un finale incredibile per precisione e potenza! Ver a qué nivel ha llegado esta orquesta llena de asombro, sobre todo para los que por edad hemos vivido el atraso histórico de la formación musical en España. Una versión comparable a la ya mítica de Abbado. Uno desearía vivir en Galicia y no perderse un solo concierto. There can't possibly be a more stunning performance than this one! Excellent sound balance and beautifully filmed.

Persuasive performance of this magnificent symphony with silky sound of all the strings, mild sound of all the woodwinds and, above all, brilliant sound of al the brass. The experienced maestro directs the perfectly trained orchestra in a well-phrased tempo and with fully effective dynamics. Wonderful!

Bravi! Maestro Elschenbach is probably the most underrated conductors ever. Yes, he is renowned but he deserves more! And I loved the performance of the obligatto horn, what a musician you have!!!

I hadn't heard of this orchestra yesterday. Now I am in rapture to them. Oustanding, precise and rousing Mahler V!!

Wow! What an exemplary performance. I've always loved Eschenbach but he really cuts it here. He gets behind the music to where Mahler really dwells. I felt as if this was how Gustav himself would have performed it. What an orchestra this is now! Virtuosity in action. You took that crazy 2nd movement to where is should always go (but seldom does), with its faux-ending keeping us all waiting till the real finale. Bravo indeed!

I never understood Mahler's music until I read Mahler's Angel, by the writer Nuria L. De Santiago, a writer with soul, heart and race, who has been able to explain with clarity and a wonderful and powerful prose, the unknown and surprising life of the great composer. From reading the real life of Gustav Mahler from the hand of De Santiago, I understood his music and his soul. I recommend it to all the musician's fans.

Überzeugende Aufführung dieser großartigen Sinfonie mit seidigen Töne aller Streicher, milden Töne aller Holzbläser und, vor allem, brillanten Töne aller Metallbläser. Uma obra que não me canso de ouvir... tanta vez a minha companheira nos passeios de bike (é mesmo maravilhoso andar de bicicleta e a ouvir este tipo de música, esta música que nos remete para a nossa ligação à natureza.

The initial impression is that Eschenbach is moving too much - too active. However, once you adopt the rhythmic cycle of his constant motion you find that he does some wonderful conducting, giving explicit and exact cues to the orchestra. They respond accordingly. A beautiful, live reading of this symphony/

Como siempre he dicho, la OSG. es la mejor de España, sus actuaciones, así lo certifican, lo que para esta orquesta es normal, para otras del estado es algo espléndido. Todos estos piropos son cosa de los grandes maestros que la han dirigido, ... cuando los "maestros "lo dicen, es porque de verdad así es.

Durante el Adagietto, en el cambio de atmosfera entre el minuto 56:00 al 56:03 se escuchan en el fondo un eco de personas gritando en un bosque o algún parque. En la versión de Karajan, se escucha algo similar, las voces de unos niños jugando. Alguien puede aclarar a que se debe? que instrumento participa?
