We must define for ourselves what is means to be Muslim. But once we find that identity, how can we voice our findings to the world. How do we use our voice and knowledge of islam to better ourselves and those around us? How do we continue forward with our muslim identities and make our voices heard when life pushes back?
Muslim Student Association's Annual Conference :
The theme of this year’s MSA Conference is “Contemporary Muslim Identities: Reflecting, Implementing, and Balancing”. The Muslim community in the United States is the most diverse Muslim community to ever exist in Islamic history. Muslims today find themselves embracing many different roles in society. This year’s conference will focus on one identity that unites all of us: the Muslim identity. We will reflect on what it means to carry a Muslim identity in today’s society, and the challenges young Muslims often face when it comes to establishing strong Muslim personas all while maintaining a strong relationship with Allah. Going beyond the individual level, we will discuss what it means to implement a Muslim identity; how do Muslims go about giving back to their communities, being functional members of society, and embodying Islamic values. Lastly, we will talk about what it means to balance a Muslim identity among all the other identities Muslims take on, while staying firm in faith and character.
