Syed Abdul Rahim (17 August 1909 - 11 June 1963), popularly known as Rahim Saab, was an Indian football coach and manager of the India national team from 1950 until his death in 1963, and a former player. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. Basically a teacher by profession, he was a strong motivator and his tenure as a coach is regarded as a *golden age* of football in India.

Not sure why they would say Brazil of Asia when we haven’t won any Asian games or Asian cup. I think that era was just exaggerated. India was never good enough in football

Someone commented that it's a shame that a country of 1.5 billion can't put together a team to qualify for FIFA. It's not a shame, definitely not. It is not our priority, and neither is the Olympics. To excel at something, it has to be first and foremost be built into the DNA of the country. Secondly, it requires vast grass root level infrastructure. The only sport that meets that criteria is cricket. We also produce the most brilliant engineers and doctors in the world for exactly the same reason. As is the case with Spirituality and mysticism. So sports fanatics shouldn't feel bad. Even countries like the USA and China have put in a ridiculous amount of money to build the grass roots level infrastructure into football, and still they're not near the best teams...why? Because football is not built into the DNA of the country... unlike many Latin American and Western European countries. So, there is no need to feel bad...in our lifetime, we will not excel and dominate in any global sport barring Cricket, it's not a priority, as simple as that.
Absolutely! Can't agree more. It will take several years and deep pockets to build that fundamental infrastructure, but it will take a lifetime to build that sports DNA (barring cricket) into our culture.
Lame excuse to not be able to qualify for the fifa world cup, I mean human body is designed to adapt to the way you want it to be like. We can evolve and excel if we want to but the thing is that we are becoming lazy especially the coming generation and football is a sport where you've to give all. I remember my grandfather, DMK Afzal who won the 1962 Asian Gold medal talk very highly of his coach. Rahim Saab as he called him, knew his players in and out, trusted them and wasn't afraid to play them out of position. A true legend of Indian football.

A film which does not judge us on the basis of cast and community. A hero who is good, patriot and not shamed on his name. A film based on a forgotten hero. A film that doesn't show him in a bad light. A film which makes me proud and happy again. A film that makes us feel a part of the national glory.
