After a quick learning process its finally time to fly the Sebart Mini Avanti From Gator Rc. Shown are my first two flight on this Xicoy powered turbine jet. CG was spot on the book rec of 145mm
You can fly this jet on the following rec ttrows:
Rudder 25mm
Elevator 17mm
Aileron 12mm
For high rates I might bump Each one up 3mm

My cg ended up with 1inch behind the recommended and i do need uptrim on this Jet like many other Avanti owners, mine is Edf though, if i get lipos further back to neutral the cg she will ballon and show tail heavy behaviour, even on the forum and in my flying club, everyone has different level of uptrim. Great flights, cheers

Welcome to the turbine ranks :D Good choice on model and engine too. You'll probably feel more comfortable in a few flights' time, and also highly recommend getting the gyro active - while the model itself doesn't have a particularly high need, it does make it center a lot better, and also allows for a better cg you would otherwise not want to run. a few mm crow with full flaps is also a nice improvement. Well done.

Thanks for the input. I have now 6 total flights. Def feel more comfortable. The gyro is now active with a few small tweaks and is for sure more dialed in. 😝😜🤪

What stands out as the most significant difference from flying an EDF? Is it the turbine lag at landing? In the sense that you have to stay in the pwr a bit more to insure you dont get too slow as it will take a few seconds to react to throttle adj? Ive recently bought this same jet w a kingtech k45 and hadn't worked up the nerve to attain my waiver.

Biggest differences. The jet takes longer to takeoff without flaps, lots of fuel on board. The jet sinks heavy without some power or glide slope. Biggest difference if you stay at a throttle setting the jet doesn’t lose speed in maneuvers. It carry’s speed well and that means it covers ground quickly. If you can fly a heavy edf you got this!!!

Ok sir, so I want to make this as light as possible. Can you please tell me your battery config? How many and sizes? Are they big enough or could you go safely smaller? Dedicated gear battery or did you use flight power with a voltage reg? Thanks. I’m thinking a single lipo and a couple voltage regs MIGHT do the trick. Thanks.

One regulator for the retracts. 2 2cell 3600 7.4 packs for the receiver and one 2s for the turbine ecu 2200

Well done. Great flight. Is the fire extinguisher you have Dry Chem or CO2? If you have to use the dry chem extinguisher, it is highly corrosive to the electronics and destroy the turbine. I have both, CO2 for the jet, dry Chem for surrounding grass or dry vegetation.

I am using a halotron extinguisher. Did some research with an extinguisher company and opted over it from co2. Co2 comes out as ice and can be catastrophic to hot components. Halotron seems to be the new wave but expensive

@Just Plane Crazy taught fire fighting classes in the Navy. There used to be Halon but found harmful to the ozone. I'll have to look into the new stuff I haven't heard about.
