Very nice flight! I had the same problem with miss judging depth with my eyes but in autumn with the trees without leaves. And I was 40 at the time. My Draco fell of around 60 feet and the wings broke of the fuse. But I probably can fix her without any expensive replacements. I can live with repaired planes, since almost everyone of them have something. After a crash I also feel more comfortable with the plane hahaha
That's too bad about the crash... Glad it was flying after it was over ! As for me I vote for the Navy for that bird ! My father was in the Navy and my son is in the Navy. Thank you Gary !!!
Sorry for that crash. I crashed my UMX Air Tractor last night too. It is done. It had been crashed a fair amount and I called it McGlue. It did fly pretty well even with all the glue. I need another one now. 😢
Excluding the mishap with the trees it was a good flight. Ive got a lot of flights on mine and really enjoy it. One thing to look for is the pins on the gear that make it rotate when the gear retracts back. Both mine came out upon landing and different times. There are some ideas on line , what i did was to carefully put some loctite on the end of the pin so it gets on the main gear shaft but not on the outer housing. On grass takeoff i hold full up elevator until liftoff and then use about 1/3 up elevator to climb out. Its a great plane and fun to fly, hope the eyes are ok.
Nice flying. Glad it wasn't too damaged to fly again. I have light poles and trees where I fly. For myself - there is only one golden rule that I try to follow always. "If I can see sky between me and a tree - I wont hit that tree." FYI: I have this plane also - loving it. I went with a Korean War 'Navy' type scheme as the national insignia are from that era - not from WW II. Blue skys Gary!
Awww, tuff luck. I did the same thing years ago when I had a park zone p51 mustang. And it was way higher up in a tree and the only thing I could do was actually cut down the tree to get it. Awesome you were able to get it and keep flying. I couldn't tree actually fell on the same side as my bird😕
Nice review Gary, great info and piloting. The best place to stand can always be found. Testing my UMX Pitts, last week. I lost signal , no novels, had to be there. Walked around fretting with my tx , telemetry regained, found it 7ft high tree. Like you, minimal damage. Enjoy your skills bro, AirHammer out!! Edit: It's good to see you
Glad it wasn't too bad . Gary . At least you didn't have to climb up 40 ft like my last flight . LOL . Same thing , lost my depth perception and thought it was closer . luckily if flew again without repairs too . This is a great plane , it can fly very slowly too ...in a straight line ...which can be deceiving when you go to turn ,
Did the same thing the other day with my UMX P-51. Was bringing her around for a landing and thought i was in-front of the tree and brought her around right through it. Let's just say the little UMX didn't hold up too well. ;)
@@IJustGotHere It did not look so bad but super cool, god bless, have a great day. When you fix it would be cool for you too make a video of the changed wing.
i kept waiting to see where you were going to crash it after every lap. I certainly didn't think it was going to be where it happened. My eyes have a problem with depth perception. I thought you were already in front of that tree too. Glad you didn't sustain enough damage to keep you from getting it back into the air.
This just happened to me this past Sunday. I was flying de XFly model F-22 raptor 40mm. I was coming in on approach and thought i was above the tree and i crashed right into the tree.
Is this a bind fly model , it flies like your typical eflight smooth and easy. I own a few and their supper easy to fly, how about you pick up a Pheonix models plane put that together without a gyro then fly it Then I'll give you lots of credit.
