Nice clean build Big B 👍, I can see you definitely set it up for 4-6s that motor is begging for more juice, the x640 on 6s will make for some great slow motion shots. BGFL

Voltage (cell count) really isn't the limiting factor on a motor, it's the wattage (Volts X Amps) that limits a motor and that is usually a heat related thing. You are 100% correct that a 30K to 35K prop speed is optimum, so absolutely plan on 6S with a prop that keeps the amperage within limits. You have that hull handling really well.

@@IRONCLADRC 1500kv is definitely 6S territory but that's a small (3630 i think?) motor for that kind of power. TP's 3630s are rated for 900W continuous, so on 6S you'd want to keep the amps under 40. The solution to most of life's problems is a bigger motor 😅

@@wtfmimshag wtfmomshag is on the right track about bigger motor solving most problems. Sometimes though, you want to go lightweight with smaller stuff to see what can be done with it. 40 amps would put you in the 900 Watt range which is probably the limit for a short-can 36mm motor. Just use the standard "Big B" temperature-limited setup technique: Keep playing with props until you find one that gives speed AND reasonable temperatures. Start off small and "sneak up" on the right prop.

Dumb question but if a esc is rated for use with a 3/4s lipo, could I use a 2s lipo? I know it won't be as fast but will the boat even operate?

Im 5 days behind, gotta get caught up. That is a good looking Boat and ought to be awesome on 4 S I love the fact SMC has a 100c economy line. Its nice to be able to get a GOOD LIPO Battery for a damned good price. All of my LIPO's now are either SMC or GensAce, I do have a couple Spektrum LIPO's for my Airplanes that take a weird size but other than having a lower discharge rate they have been ok batteries but in my opinion, which is only worth $0.02 😂 SMC is big ole titties kind of good!
