Is the 7548-7010 200m diver the best iteration of the 7548s? My watch was just serviced, and now the hand lume is turning - what gives? The 6106 Chevron. Removing a stubborn caseback with superglue? Recently acquired a 6139-6005 that appears to keep fairly good time, but not sure how well it's keeping a "wind." Excited to start wearing it and seeing how she works on the wrist. With this find I've been looking up all-things-6139 and came upon your channel. So very interesting, and looking forward to learning from you! And, bye the way, the wife and I are planning a trip to Colorado Springs this fall and your comments about the high plains has given us an idea for a day trip while there. Thanks! The quickest way to find out if you have a vacuum leak at the base of your carbs is to spray break cleaner or carb cleaner at the bottom of your carbs while running and if the idle goes up then you have a leak if not there fine.

Concerning green bean. My dad used to test for a vacuum leak by taking a bath towel, folding it up into say a quarter. With the engine running, quickly cover the carburetor and the engine should die immediately. If it continues to try to run means it's sucking air some place. Normally it's the gasket between the carb and the intake manifold, or the intake manifold itself. Those two places are highly suspect in an old car. It's fairly easy to replace both gaskets. I would replace both right now since you have the hood out of the way. Get in and sit inside the engine compartment so you can get right over it and it's not that bad. On an old engine with a rough idle that's a must do.

I could'nt help myself and got a 6r54 reissue 1968 gmt, runs at +11s/day with 0.3 ms beat error, no missalignment issues and well made but not cheap!

Let the engin run, spray systematic al vacum konetions with brakcleaner, cacbcleaner or wd-40 or simular. Vhen you hit a leaking point the engin vill revs up a bit ;) Arround intake manifoil to ;) Good lucke mate ;)

Sounds like you need to fully strip down and clean Green Beans carburettors if still running ruff and with high idle needed. Let me know when you’re ready for that next vacation remember you can come down to the wrong side of the world I’ve got everything ready to go down here. Gorgeous early winter day down here also.

Carbs are fully rebuilt and then some. All new shafts. The butterflies have those relief valve things, not so sure about those. I've been told a lot of owners delete theirs.

IMO Seiko and Rolex have both gone for the money. The difference is that while a Rolex is still an incredibly well built tool watch with timeless design modern Seikos are just pale shadows of their former selves.

Spencer. I love you but I think that you owe it to the Seiko collector community to let us know your lume solution. I highly doubt that you’ll market and sell it so I feel like you’re not really protecting anything. Sorry to be a jerk but it’s how I feel. It would help a lot of people bring back these old treasures.

I swear I'm not being flippant when I reference this: simpsonswiki.com/wiki/Flaming_Meaux. My formula works but it is very slow and VERY labor & time intensive. It works for a given value of "works", and depending on the lume condition can give wildly different results. But lastly, of all the things I owe the watch community for, Revitalume isn't one of them. I created it despite the old guys who lost no opportunity to tell me that lume couldn't be cleaned and that I was wasting my time. I was not, in fact, wasting my time. I'm thinking on it, I really am.
