On this 55 inch RCA LED Television, when you press the power the TV screen flashes once then goes completely black. This symptom is a common problem on just about all LED television's.
Bad led backlites will cause any TV to just flash once, several times, or the TV screen will stay black buy you may still have sound coming through the TV speakers.
This is a full repair video on this RCA model LED55C55R120Q; in which we break the television down, find the bad Led strip, replace or repair the backlight strip, reassemble the TV, and were off and working again.
Thus repairing this 9 year old LED TV and saving it from the dumpster.

Incredible integrity sir. Replacing all the strips. Not many people would put in all new strips and keep the excess new strips and only replace the bad one.

That TV must have been mounted above a working fireplace..I can't see how a power supply board could warp the plastic like that.

I think it was on a wall mount with the Plate covering the whole back part of the TV. Maybe that and over 8 years of the TV constantly being on. Not unless he laid it against the Furnace when he took it down. lol

Good video - I replaced backlights on TV. worked great until I noticed seeing the LEDs while watching TV. The backlight brightness is 50%. I lowered the brightness and can still see faint outline of all LEDs when a TV show or commercial has a light background. Could I have received the wrong LED backlights? The backlights have the diffuser (cover) on each LED. I tried shaking the tv some, but do not hear any LED diffusers (covers) rolling around. I can even see the square paper cutout of the backing paper when watching TV. I placed the screens back just like as removed. The TV is Hisense 58R6E. Thinking of leaving like as is - or trying a different LED set.

I figured it out - the paper around the LEDs was not flat causing some shadows

Where did you purchase the strips the only strips i see on ebay and shop jimmy are 12 single strips with plug inputs on one side my RCA has 12 strips 6 on left side with inputs and 6 on right side with inputs where can i purchase these strips

mine turned on after not working for about a year, i unplugged it to move it since i plugged it while it was on the floor and now i see a black screen with flashes when i turn it on 😭😭

Hey Bigdog, I have a Veon 55' 4k TV with no picture or sound, but backlights are on.Power light turns on, colour blue, then after 1 minute 19 sec it turns to red. Would like to knw what would cause this problem.Thanks.

Why does the Picture shutdown if only 1 LED is open? With no current flow in that strip, the TV should not overheat. What am i missing ? What did the test show on that particular LED strip when you tested it....... Thanks.

There hooked up in series. So if an LED opens up, then you have open circuit. Just like the old Christmas lights.

@@bigdog8882 I thought there were more than 1 series circuits going to the Backlights. For example: If there were 4 different circuits driving all the backlights, then only 1 set would be open and fail to light. That would still leave 3 remaining series circuits to light the entire backlight panel, so you would only have 'dead spots' in that area. Perhaps it senses a change in current from the norm and shuts down.

Hey there, great video! I’ve been following the video step-by-step just got my tester and tested all the LEDs and they all seem to work. I have the same TV in the same problem. The red light comes on. I got the multi meter press the button voltage is high, but then drops down just like your video so if it’s not these LED strips what could it be everything else is the same issue? Thank you.

Great work and your videos are the best by far , i have a questions , done led replacement on many tvs , having trouble with a 70" ONN roku tv , it has 2 led voltage strips like a ribbon cable kind of thing and it gives me shock sometimes when i touch the leds even when tv is not plugged in , also leds keep shorting out everything i put power on , ny help here will be appreciated same issue with a 70 RCA tv which is the same exact thing inside

I did but they short out again. The only tv ever where I get a small shock. I will try changing the power supply

for the backlight replacements, do you search the model of the tv for the backlight strips or do i have to open it up and find serial code on them and look them up before ordering?

I have a similar issue with my TV. The backlight flashes briefly when I first turn it on, then goes black. I don't have access to a backlight tester, but I used a couple batteries to test each strip and every LED lit up. Is there anything else that might cause this? Also, what do you use for the background music in these videos? I tried to look it up with Shazam and kept getting different results. It's alright if you don't remember, thanks!
