Derek introduces us to the baxi main he 24kw condensing band b combination boiler, showing how to test an air pressure switch and repair the diverter valve
Hi Derek. Your videos are so helpful, especially for the beginners. Thanks for good explanations of any subjects and for your patience:) Don`t stop do it, please
Great video. Very well structured and explained. The Boiler is a variation of Baxi 60/100 with a secondary heat exchanger attached to it. I took part in training on Baxi Range of Cast Iron Standard Efficiency Combi/ System and Condensing models in Baxi Training Centre in Dartford in 2005. Great courses. I have no doubt their trainers would give you a big thumbs up.👍👍👍
Just found your channel - really good clear explanation of the boiler and sequences - thank you for posting been looking for the boiler sequence for ages - I can sleep tonight now !!LOL
Super. Thank you very much! Might be a good addition to discuss the expansion vessel top up in Combi 24HE, as the access to the top up valve is tricky.
Nice one on sequence of operation as I couldn’t get it in my head when I was doing my course After watching this everything about fan aps etc made sense You explained it in this video quicker than what we learnt at my course Think be a good idea if you did courses on fault finding on boilers using a multimeter so you can test components from the PCB board
Good video my gas engineer left the white wire off the condensate trap after emptying it the boiler kept going off but carried on cutting out he realised what he had done then never mind 😏
Great instructional video so much covered in this video. However strugling to correctly diagnose Red burner light on Solid not flashing for flame out However even though burner lit red light indicator is on , There is NO flame at the gas burner. Should l be investigating flame rectification issue, when ch selected programe calling for heat pump running?
Amazing video, thankyou. I'm having trouble with mine. As soon as I turn on the boiler with pump connected it blows the internal fuse. The windings on the pump are giving me 160 ohms and no visible damage to the starting capacitor. Any advice would be welcomed.
Very very enjoyable to watch very educational? Plz explain how the gas pipe from gas valve connects to the injector ports, I was getting ignition but no flame 🔥 Ended up replacing the boiler? after watching this it could of been possible air pressure switch, no parts shops open due to covid-19 so I think I made the right decision and changed boiler for the customer? Plz plz reply or upload a vid regarding gas value and all connection to combustion chamber, I was very gutted I could not fix? thank you sir
Seem like the achilles heel on this particular combi model 24-28 HE is the PCB, when the Takamisawa JV24S-KT small black relay fails stopping the fan from running
We have this boiler in a property we bought a year ago. We had power flushing, and a new primary heat ezchanger fitted. I also rebuilt the diverter valve and fitted a magnaclean. Question and debate at home is, do we keep running it, now that its all nice and serviced, or replace with a more modern combi from a premium brand - i cant quantify whether we would save much on the gas bill. Obviously this has the secondary heat exchanger, to make it HE, but would a modern boiler be much better on efficiency?? Any thoughts welcome.
Hi just saw this video and it is very useful even for someone like me who knows nothing about boilers. I have a leak from the diverter valve and I believe the diaphragm needs changing. Would it cost a lot to get this changed? I have a Main 24 he boiler and it is 10 years old Thanks for your time
Very good video lots of good practice and instruction, but your Fan Ohms resistance test info confusing to me .I get the lower than 20 ohms and the infinity readings as being bad. However l don't understand your logic on the -100 and + 100 ohms from the mean 30 ohms good reading. Please can you explain further.
Iv got this exact boiler and having issue where the boiler doesn’t ignite unless the hot tap is open full . In order to have a shower you need to run the sink tap at same time or the boiler will cut out during the shower . Iv replaced the spring / diaphragm/ pin and cleaned it all out but still have same issue . Any other advice?
Nice video mate just found your Channel. Interested in How do you check an aps without sucking / blowing ? Checking for voltage is fine but if the fan isn’t running how can you check C to N open (NO)
You have to have the power on the boiler with the fan running to see if the voltage changes over . The sucking or blowing after you have removed the APS will only be used to confirm it’s broken. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi Derrick how u doing thank very much for you videos I have learned so much more than where Im studying actually. would u be able to tell the combustion reading range for this boiler I have checked MI's nowhere to find. many thanks.
In the case of a 2 wire APS confirming voltage or continuity between C and NC is enough at rest. As we know normally open is unused. However what about a 3 wire APS how are you confirming continuity / voltage between C - Normally open. without the fan running most intriguing. Good videos like I say.
DM Heating & Plumbing it is dependant on the manufacturer’s I believe. Some use the 3 wires to be able to put a fault code or light on the boiler. At the end of the day the APS is a fan proving switch which we are not allowed to bypass so the manufacturers has to stop us bypassing it . The switch can also get stuck open or closed so they have to stop the boiler if it is stuck open too . If you look at most boilers the expensive ones use 3 wires and the cheaper ones 2 hope that’s what you are asking lol . Thanks for watching cheers 👍🏻
Wish you had explained the test procedure on the condensate trap, are we talking about a multimeter continuity test to prove it has failed if no water present in the trap?
Hi , I would like to as about the white wire on the trap , If the burner goes on then off Some people say unplug the white wire ,can you please explain what will prove by removing the white wire Thanks alot Tom
I think you mean the earth wire for the ignition that gets interrupted by the condensate trap. If it is when the trap blocks and fills with water the earth sensor hits the water which breaks the earth to ignition and fame rectification and cuts off the fame ad ignition.
Im not a plumber and this Video is so faking help full cuz I have this mathertruker boiler at home and just top working and Now I will know what to do step by step. I will let You know if Im repair or not this pice of shit boiler xD thx a lot for this Video.
very analytic video for the gas boiler baxi. We have baxi luna3 avant before 4 years in thessalonike greece the temp was bellow zero . the burners are outside. and fridge. i warm it from faraway with hot air ,and was working normaly.from the last year it loosing pressure every 1or 2 weeks i call technician for service ,but nothing change 50 euro annual service.i put paper soft bellow the second heat exchanger and becames very litle moisture.arrount the fan exist on the walls a line of iron corosion, like a laser line . from your big experience is a leak on the second axchanger or on some return valve? Thank you.
If you isolate the flow and return valves under the boiler and leave it overnight. If the pressure drops you have a leak in the boiler if it doesn’t then the leak could be in the pipe work. It could also be the expansion vessel loosing air very slowly it could also be a number of other things but that’s where I would look first 👍🏻
@@tomkatgastraining changed the diaphragm in diverter valve last yesterday because plunger was not working properly as a result I had to have central heating on whenever I need hot water. After I changed the diaphragm the plunger started working but the burner wont fire up and neon bulb in the middle started flashing up at a slow pace.
Just to pick your brains ? We have the same boiler it fires up when the hot tap on but only for about 30 seconds then turns off we have had a few engineers out but none of them have come back with a salutation other then a new boiler , is it the case we will need a new boiler or are they just trying to get us to buy a new boiler
