Yeah me too. I'm probably one of the last Zoomers to grow up with Zelda. Ocarina of Time is my Father's favorite game, and I remember playing it with him on the N64 as a kid. We would take turns anytime one of us died or after 10 minutes. I feel bad for my Zoomer brethren stuck with Fortnite XD
Christmas Day 2003, I was 6, and my present from "Santa" was a Gamecube with Mario Party 5 and the LOZ Collectors Edition. Unforgettable memories :) Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time remain my two favorite games of all time
When I was 5 years old one of my dads coworkers gave me his old gamecube with mario kart double dash and the zelda collectors disc. The 20 minute windwaker demo was my first gaming experience and I played it to death and then moved onto ocarina and majoras mask. I'm 19 now and my love for the zelda series remains strong!!
I've owned both Collector's Edition and OOT+Master Quest, and I honestly never knew about the LTTP fanfare at the end. That is wiiiiiild!! I guess young me was never patient enough to hear it lol. Another thing I noticed is that it's only a half-step down from the OG fanfare with a new soundfont. If you pitch it up a half step with a browser extension like Transpose (+1 in the extension), you can get the original fanfare. It sounds freaking incredible in the right key.
Collector's Edition was fine, sure... But the Master Quest disc was epic AF too! I remember watching the trailer for Metroid Prime on it so, so many times!
It wasn't until very recently that i found out this somg even had an end, i dont know if it was just our copy of the game but it kept repeating the same motif no matter what. It wasn't until we got the master quests almost 2 decades later from a friend that i heard the end part. My brother went outside the room while i was chilling and the look on my face when i heard ALttP title screen lit my face up and sent shivers down my spine! Will never forget that moment
This was also in the bonus disc that you got that had both the regular version of OoT and the Master Quest version of the same game. Said bonus disc was a pre-order bonus for Wind Waker.
I got this game sometime around 2004. I was only 4 and didn’t even know how to progress half the time (especially Majora’s Mask). Here I am, almost 22 and a massive fan of Zelda. I couldn’t imagine a world without the Zelda series.
I was born in 1985. The first Zelda game I ever played was the original 1987 one on the NES, but I didn’t understand it at the time. What really got me into Zelda was the 1991 game A Link to the Past. My brother and I got a Super Nintendo for Christmas in 1992 and then eventually got a copy of A Link to the Past, and I’ve been a Zelda fan ever since.
I remember when I played OoT for the first time in 1998, I wanted to hear something like this when Link first steps out into Hyrule Field. I was disappointed. The Termina Field theme used the main theme in Majora’s Mask, but that was Termina Field, not Hyrule Field. The main menu music in the GameCube 2003 Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition was the closest thing to getting my wish. I listened to it so much.
I remember playing OOT with my dad the N64 version with my dad when I was a kid. He doesn’t play games as much as I do anymore since I got older and OOT was the Zelda game that introduced me to the Zelda games AND it also got me started on playing these lovely games. I miss my childhood
Just recently bought the collectors edition for $106 but i really wanted to have this, ive never owned anything that was a pre order bonus before and i love it!
I actually have 2 copies. I got my first copy used at GameStop for like $30, and then years later I came across my second copy at a garage sale for $6. Still have them both.
Forgot that this also plays during the first beta trailer for wind Waker, and the ending to this that some did not know of was in the end of that trailer actually. Heh.
I watched all the trailers, played the demo for Wind Waker, and played on all of the games (only beat OoT) when I got older. My fucking childhood right here
This was the first video game I ever played. Or... one of the games on this disc, anyway, including the full version of Wind Waker. But oh, the nostalgia I have for this! Growing up with the shittiest possible versions of some of the greatest video games of all time never felt so fun. The vague memories of kittens waking me up at 4 A.M., playing with them for a while, then turning the GameCube on, waking my mother up to immediate regret as I scrolled through the choices. "Bududududup!" "Hello?" "Look!" "Listen!" "Watch out!". I currently don't actually have a reliable way to play N64. Not to mention, I always - ALWAYS - look for mods for my games if it's for PC or a console I've modded. I think I might give this another shot.
Does this version of the main theme have a name? I mean with the speed and the key. I can't find it played on the piano anywhere, except when it's termina field.
10 yr old me: "idk why this came with my gamecube but zelda is too hard/scary so no thx" Also me after starting ocarina of time: oh FUCK yes rest is history
