A video showing how to remove and replace the main motor from a single-head Butterfly Embroidery machine (2012).
UPDATE: Newer machines (2013+) use a larger coupling that use 3mm screws instead, so any standard 3mm hex would do rather than requiring a high-quality/strong 2.5mm hex. There may be more screws total on the coupling as well.
As for why the main motor would be replaced, sometimes the internal A/B/Z sensor malfunctions or sucks in enough dust/contaminants to cause a sensor problem tracking RPM speed.
Additional technical notes: If not already mentioned, when the main motor is replaced the lower shaft may be pressed forward excessively, requiring the collars along the shaft to be adjusted (unscrewed and re-screwed). Alternatively, the shaft would be pulled back during this motor exchange process, causing the hook to be pulled out of its "nose" temporarily enough for the hook's moving parts to spin loose and reject being placed back in until re-rotated.
Footage is from 2012; An updated video is planned for later.
