Tim my friend use to have a camp in Grand falls plantation it was not far from Nicatous lake we ice fished that lake great vid thanks for the post Mark
Hi I am from New York and looking at planning a trip to Maine with my rzr. There is not a ton of info I can find on campgrounds and the best places to ride. Everything keeps pointing me to balsam woods campground in abbot maine. Do you have any information on riding that area? What would you suggest for someone coming to spend a week of riding that has a camper and would like to be able to ride straight from camp Nick
I've heard nothing but high praise for the Balsam woods campground and the trails in that area are great. You can ride to Moosehead lake or over to Bingham and down to Pittsfield. Moxie Falls and the B-52 crash site are really popular spots that you can visit that are small hikes just off the trails for that area. Another good option is the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is my primary ride area in Maine. Trails for days between Ellsworth, Calais and Lincoln. Its more coastal and your not far from Acadia National park if you wanted to explore the area other than on an ATV. For the Sunrise Trail, I recommend Cottonwood Campground & RV park. They are awesome hosts and will go to great lengths to accommodate people. www.cottonwoodcampingrvpark.com/ If you have any other questions, I will do my best to answer them. Enjoy your trip. Tim
I've been snowmobiling all over Maine for the past 20 years, but this past weekend was the first time riding ATV's up there. Went to Forks and Jackman. Unbelievably rocky. Seems like this area is much better. Is this Beddington to Aurora?
Yes, the trails are smoother than the Forks/Jackman area. Jacks Snack Shack is located on Nicatous Lake which is north of Beddington. It's a good 80 mile loop ride. However, the trail has changed since I did this video. The 511 trail got shut down and now you must get to Jacks via the 504/508 trail. It's a well marked trail system so you can find your way around pretty easy.
Jackman trails arnt that Rocky, it's the forks that are brutal. The main trail south from jackman is almost impassable with a 4 seat sidexside. My 2 seat commander has just enough clearance. I want to check out this trail system next season it looks ligit
Sadly, AFM has a zero bike policy regardless of how it's registered. It really does suck as I know a few riders who are unfairly punished by this policy because of the bad apple rep.
Tim Maddocks Ok. Thank for getting back to me. Both my wife and I ride dual sport bikes and were just looking for places to ride. It looked like a good tame trail that my wife could ride and handle the bike no problem.
Ya pushing out people who generally support the exact some hobbies of the ATV crowd is stupid. They'll make this hobby extinct with the help of in fighting
@@Yodumeeegov mills helping do that, she banned over 65" n certain weights, yet the clubs presidents say NO ONE complained. riders cant buy nice high end machines n companies lose money
This bridge was on the 511 trail in Beddington, ME. Unfortunately, the land owner decided they wanted that particular trail closed and the bridge removed. I was the last one to run it before it was removed.
I figured that's where it was. I didn't buy a SxS until last August so I missed out on that one I guess. Was there some kind of problem that caused them to close it?
