@@lnic178 it does mean island. Yu which is 屿 means islet/small island. So the full name Gu Lang Yu （鼓🥁 浪🌊 屿）means island/islet of drum wave/billow. Ps. the name of drum wave always reminds me of sound waves in concerts.

I’m curious about the boat you took actually. It might be a seasonal thing or maybe a post-covid policy, but the last two times I went tourists had to go from a different port on the western side of Xiamen island and were forbidden from using the five minute ferry across the channel which you seem to have done here. The cost was also more than 35rmb I’m sure and you had to book a specific boat like a train, with a fixed time. If you missed it, you had to book again. I wonder why it was different for you.
