Depends on what other fish are in the lake really mate, I've found using a 15mm pop up or snowman rig discourages nuisance fish (bream etc) as its too big for them to eat, I also tend to put 15mm boilies out in a PVA bag or or catapult over the top and avoid pellets etc, hope this helps

+Crissy Miller no problem mate if you're fishing for carp specifically I'd definitely try and avoid pellets and use boilies 100% just so it's more difficult for nuisance fish to eat and draws the carp in, good luck for the season

+Crissy Miller not a problem mate I'm not trying to promote any companies but if you want to know what boilies I use, you can't go wrong with either Sticky Baits "The Krill" or Mainline cell, complete opposites but both work wonders on different lakes I fish, regards to stick mix I'd always crush the same boilies I'm fishing into a crumb and add some of the matching liquids and let it soak in 24 hours before I fish as it releases scents into the water and brings the fish in... As I say I'm not promoting products as I pay for all my own bait and gear myself but do believe you pay for what you get with bait..
