Learning how to beat Level 4 and the Murasa boss did promise to me that the series was pretty fun and awesome so she’s always been a favorite for me. As of now I’ve 1cc’d most of the main Gen games on normal and have beaten Flan, Ran, Yukari and Mokou
WBaWC is too high. If you learn the mechanics of the game it becomes one of the easiest 1CCs in the series, ESPECIALLY if you use Otter shottypes which are overpowered (4 bombs per lives which are also empowered). There is a reason why it's the only Touhou game I managed to 1CC on Lunatic even though I don't have the dodging skills to handle its patterns.

Heya sleepless nights, I’ve been watching your content for a while now on a guest account (mainly Touhou) and I feel like you should try out this game called Bullet Hell Monday (it had 3 games so far) and I think you would enjoy it like Touhou. Btw you make great vids keep it up 👍
Thank you for this. I actually wanted to check such a ranking, cause I started Touhou around the same time you did your first video and was doing 1CC, as Reimu A, of every game from 6 onwards. I just finished Touhou 15 (on pointdevice. I am not doing Legacy until I get more practice and patience, or won't be doing it at all, cause I am still mentally stable) and wanted to see how the games are after the hardest. The only extras I have finished are of Touhou 6,7 and 8. I stopped doing them after that. Really nice video with some great opinions with examples on screen. Hope you have fun with whatever you decide to do next.
To be honest, this is a list I think i 100% agree with. Well.. Actually, no. There's one thing, IN. I've actually found IN easier than even MoF. But maybe that's just the patterns :`) But other than that, (as expected) another banger video1!!!
Thanks for making this video! I always enjoy your Touhou videos, and it's always interesting to see someone else's thoughts on Touhou difficulty comparisons. Feel free to tackle extra/spinoffs/fangames/etc at your own pace, no need to rush. Personally, if I made a list like this, I'd probably put Mountain of Faith one tier higher, Hidden Star one tier higher, Subterranean Animism one tier lower, and Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom two tiers lower. (Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom is one of only 4 mainline games I have a lunatic 1cc in currently, thanks to Reisen's bomb. And yes, that would leave UFO two full tiers above everything else. UFO makes me angry to play.) But that's just my opinion.
nice vid, I think your rankings mostly hold up for Lunatic as well. There's a lot of minutia you could pick at (MoF and DDC MarisaB, LoLK bomb spamming as Sanae) but does anyone feel like they've properly cleared the games when they do these things? Would highly recommend playing 4 and 5 from the PC98 era too. I was surprised how fun and polished they were, better than some modern touhou games.

(not ordered) lunatic 1cc tier list. should still apply for normal 1cc, the only difference being that podd, ufo, ms and eosd drop, and sa maybe rises s: podd, ufo a: ms, eosd b+: sa b: hrtp, soew, in, mof, td, lolk c: lls, pcb d: pofv, ddc, hsifs, wbawc, udoalg e: um typically the most important factor in determining difficulty is the amount of resources you get, followed by the strength of the existing shot types. pattern difficulty is mostly irrelevant. it doesn't matter how hard a pattern is if you can just bomb it podd: you only get 4 lives and 2 bombs per stage. impossible to route due to being a versus game, and as such the only touhou game that actually requires you to dodge. you will need to be a gorilla if you want this clear ufo: the polar opposite of podd. even though you can get many resources, you have to route to get them, and sadly touhou players are incapable of routing. most touhou games have easy or non-existent routing, but ufo is one of the rare exceptions. it will force you to unleash your inner chimp ms: only 7 or 8 lives, and assuming you're playing mima who's the best shot, her bombs are virtually useless. the patterns aren't too bad, except for yumeko who is like 99% of the difficulty and can easily result in chain deaths eosd: same as ms, though probably easier since you're guaranteed to get 8 lives, and if you're playing marisa b who's the best shot imo, you'll have good bombs. most patterns are pretty easy, and there's no yumeko to deal with sa: massively overrated in difficulty. most people claim the shot types suck, and yet they fail to recognise the extremely powerful bombs of reimu c and marisa a, the latter of whom can beat the game in as few as 17 minutes. the patterns also aren't really that bad since they're pretty static and a lot of them have safespots, and you also get many lives hrtp: another pretty overrated game in terms of challenge. it has infinite score extends, and if you slide kick into the orb during a bomb, you'll get 5 morbillion points. i know a guy who got lunatic 1cc first try right after getting normal 1cc, so this game could be argued to be even lower on the list soew: yet another game that's considered way harder than it actually is. not being able to focus really isn't as big of a problem as people make it out to be when you consider the micrododging or lack of required. you can die 3 times up to marisa and still have full lives, and the bombs are incredibly powerful in: lots of resources + tiny hitbox means you can get away with really dumb dodges mof: press x and you'll win. the only reason it isn't lower is cause vowg exists. d tier if you're willing to use marisabug td: many people claim this game has few resources while completely ignoring the 2000 bombs you get, but then again touhou players are generally pretty bad at or unwilling to route lolk: a lot of people will watch lnn and assume it's the hardest, even though reisen can get hit 288 times and still clear, while sanae can die or bomb every chapter and still have 2 lives remaining lls: 10 lives and 31 bombs, with the easiest patterns in the series and an overpowered shot type in the form of marisa a pcb: pick sakuya and press x pofv: pick aya or medicine and spam level 2s ddc: reimu a can kill bosses super quickly through shift spamming. sakuya a can also shift spam to really slow down bullets and deal a lot of damage, and has pcb borders as her bomb. marisa b is probably the most broken since she can farm infinite resources with her bomb. i know a guy who watched a score run and instantly got lunatic 1cc with marisa b hsifs: pick fall or winter and press c wbawc: pick marisa otter and press x udoalg: pick reimu or chiyari and spam level 3s um: pick aya card and get an autofire macro and you'll get lunatic no miss no bomb pacifist instantly
I 1cced LoLK first try, dunno what everyone's problem is. Granted I had to retry Clownpiece 200+ times, but still... On serious note, I started with HSiFS, and once you knew the timing of using releases, it was essentially free lives, especially the summer one which is highly spammable. Think it could be lower as well as WBaWC, whose otter spirits are busted.
surprised you put 17 as high as it is, out of the games you used here, id honestly say it's the easiest. You said the pattern difficulty is fairly high but on normal I'm not sure I'd agree, especially considering how powerful otter and wolf shots are.
Pretty good rankings. For me I love ufo but despised lolk. I had a lot of fun with the ufos and dodging in it compared to lolk micrododge and stream everything for more resources.
I'm sure we can all agree that the printed works are the hardest game in the series. I've yet to see anyone 1CC CoLA, Rinosuke's survival attacks are too hard.
If you added touhou 9 and 19 they could probably go in F tier because they are super easy to 1CC even on lunatic. Aya and Medicine on 9 destroy the AI by just breathing,in 19 Reimu wins the moment she can use her LVL2,Chiyari doesn't automatically win but she completely trivializes the game too.
"Chiyuri doesn't automatically win" well yeah, Chiyuri is the worst character in PoDD PvE (she's mid tier in the theoretical PvP where the opponent doesn't magically dodge every pellet she throws) Anyway, Aya and Medicine wish they could break the AI as easily as Chiyari. You can actually die as Aya and Medicine if you're not careful, because the AI can still dodge the ricocheting bullets or through poison, it's just terrible at doing that. Chiyari wisps are so hilariously overpowered that a human properly using them is pretty much undefeatable and I think it literally breaks the AI where if it gets hit multiple times in quick succession (which is likely to happen), it doesn't bother dodging any further ones.
Huh; I've not beaten PCB and I've beaten quite a few other games. I'd rank PCB mid-tier personally. Also I've beaten DDC but not UM... I'd rank Um far higher and DDC lower imo. I do feel like the bottom ones and top two are generally quite agreed on [IN/TD/Mof are easy; UFO/LolK are hard]. Also; on Lunatic UFO is generally considered about equal to LoLK. Also for UM; UM is generally considered mid-tier with cards; and Top 4 at least without them. [Especially on Lunatic. Stage 3-5 on Lunatic are crazy. Chimata isn't that bad but Stage 3, 4 and 5...]
I personally would rate PCB harder than IN and EoSD, its the last game i 1cc first out of the three Yuyuko is so much harder compared to Remilia, Eirin and Kaguya imo
It all comes down to how easy it is to collect P items. SA isn't nearly as generous as MoF in that regard. Add to that the fact that in MoF you cap your damage at 4.00/5.00 power, meaning you have a free bomb at full power.
@@cornocornocorno I'm playing SA right now and it is hard. As someone claimed about safe spots in SA they haven't seen to appear on the first 2 levels at least. Projectiles spon from a boss itself rather than in front of the boss.
I'm not sure how this transfers to Normal Mode, but top level players (score runners, LNN players) actually find DDC to be one of the hardest games, up there with the infamous ones like LoLK and UFO. It's heavily offset by the generous resource system, but the patterns are *hard.* At least on Lunatic, patterns like Kagerou's midspell, Double Score, all of Seija and a good part of Shinmy are all terrifying. Overall, the raw danmakfu is really difficult. Of course, this changes a lot if you know how to use the shot types and resource system. Most of the shots have a lot of obscure optimizations like ReimuA's gohei duping, SakuyaA's focus spamming and MarisaB's crazy power item generation. But none of these are particularly easy to learn, and if you ignore them then the game is twice as hard.
@@-butterfly-594 the video said this was from the perspective of a normal 1cc, allowing all uses of resources, cheese, and shot-types. Sure, the danmaku gets really bullshit at times, but because of the obscene amount of resources you get you can pretty much just bomb your way through everything after a certain point. Characters like Marisa B and Sakuya A also scale fairly well into the late game. I’m just speaking from personal experience, but if you just bomb smartly enough you should be fine for a normal 1cc.
Honestly yeah, on normal using the good shot type for each character (RA, MB, SA) it's pretty easy to finish with no continues. The other shot types are a fair bit harder simply due to lacking the benefits of their alternative shots (RB's loses focused homing in exchange for barely better damage [assuming you don't do the funny shift-spamming] and a weaker bomb, MA's doesn't have the life piece generating bomb and has noticeably reduced damage at any amount of distance in exchange for honestly strong shotgunning, and SB loses out on basically everything that makes Sakuya A good [Homing explosive focus shot with higher dps and faster clear times not counting the whole speedkilling thing where you make the knives detonate immediately] + the shield bomb which effectively gives you 2 PoC's or refunds you part of it back, although I guess it's to be expected that the shot made specifically for scoring is worse for 1CCing). Still, while it's definitely quite a bit harder with the worse shot types, the game does give you quite a lot of resources to throw around.
