A simple walk through of how to maintain, a Philips Aquatouch electric razor. Includes disassembly and removal of the heads, how to deep clean them and then put it all back together. With will be very similar for other models
That was so helpful. My shaver is now as good as new and I can't believe how much gunk there was in there! No wonder it had stopped being effective. Thank you!
Thank you for this video!! I was cleaning my clients razor and the little blue thing was not locking I couldnt figure out how to click it back into place until I watched you do it!!! You saved me!!
Ya my one I just couldn't figure it out the thing is it looks simple but is actually hard to put it together and I was wondering why it was labouring I never knew it the blades you're meant to grease up I thought the black spinning things your meant to do
Thanks, this is helpful. Never really notices how dirty this thing got and thought the blades were dull. Had not even rinsed it out for 3 months, just dumped it and blew on it and finally noticed all the crap stuck in the blades.
After taking apart my son's shaver and seeing all the gunk, I knew I was going to need help. Thanks for the in depth directions AND the vinegar solution. Now to move onto my husband's shaver. Yikes! 😬
My 2 cents worth is shaking the rotary blade in a glass jar like that could damage the points of the tiny blades, another then that great tutorial. Thanks
Thank you for this! Bought my shaver just a couple of months ago and was convinced the blades were completely dull when in actuality the thing was sooo clogged. Couldn't believe how much hair was stuck in there.
WELL DONE VIDEO! i got mine about Year ago after having one for 22 years that felt apart. I was afraid to use water on this one, so I just used dry brush here and there without taking it apart. I didn't realize it is not difficult to take it apart so I did for the first time. After dry brush and compressed air cleaning, this thing shaves better than it did when new. THANKS AGAIN for down to the point Instructions!
Back before we had water rinse able shavers we took them apart weekly and brushed them out and then soaked the heads and cutters in rubbing alcohol. After they air dryed, reassembled and gave the heads a quick spray of shaver lube and they were good to go. Back then we took care of things, I still do.
Before I watched this video, I couldn't get the blue circles on/off. You managed to sort it out for me, so many thanks. I couldn't believe how much crap there was in the 3 blade assemblies! Got it mostly out ok and your vinegar trick finished it off for me. If you don't have a jar then make sure you have a heat-proof glass (like one of those Irish coffee glasses with a metal handle) and use a drinks coaster to keep the water/vinegar in when shaking it :-)
Thank you very much!!! Finally was able to clean my razor after a year hahaha I legit thought it stopped working cause all the hairs were cloggin up the razors😂
Doesn't shaking vigorously in the glass jar damage the blades of the heads? I would imagine it would be a very easy way to dull them prematurely. Also, does it not need any further treatment after the vinegar application? Thank you
Disassemble once a week and rinse out the combs and cutters. Reassemble and let dry completely then lightly spray the heads with a cleaner/lube like Andis Cool Care. Simple maintenance that keeps your shaver working like new.
That should work well, not having one I had to revert to manual agitation. The vinegar is a natural degreaser, I prefer not to use man made chemicals if possible
I'm not sure a tooth brush would work well. The main issue you have is oil from your skin which then sticks things to the blade. The hot vinegar works well as it is a very effective degreaser. Using the toothbrush afterwards would work well if there is still dirt on the blades
The heads have 2 tabs if you put this in and rotate it will drop into position. Then put the blade in. Finally for the clip there are a couple of marks which line up with the tabs should drop in then then small twist to lock. Hope this helps
Would it be possible to see you take apart the trimmer head and put it together again. I took mine apart and I can't for the life of me seem to get it quite like it was before.
Suggestion - leave the drain to the sink closed just incase parts are dropped. My question is whether or not the shaving heads are matched? Can I put all 3 heads into the vinegar?
Thank you for the video. Pls do give some info as to how one should lubricate the blades of time permits. How often and with what brands of oil? I have a Braun 9290 shaver and they say to add a few drops of the Braun shaver oil before putting it in the clean and charge station if the shaver is often used with water instead of dry shaving. I use Wahl Clipper oil and do this once a week before I put it in the clean and charge station which also lubricates while cleaning.
For this Philips shaver I never used oil. I have also had a Panasonic which does need oil. I have used the original oil although I suspect it is only light machine oil. I've never had a Braun so not best placed to comment, sorry cannot help further
It depends on peoples beards .people beards grow differently some can be curly or flat or grows in all sorts of directions .so some people will benefit better with a rotary shaver while others will benefit better with a foil shaver .the bruan series 9 pro cuts great for me very close .the arch 6 is like a proglide blade when used wet but still cuts very good dry .so it depends on your beard I don’t think rotary blades would be great for me since bruan works wonders I haven’t tried a rotary shaver but normally if a foil shaver ain’t good for someone a rotary shaver works wonders for them I seen people saying rotatory savers don’t work for them it useless and I have seen people saying foil shavers is useless on them so as I said it all depends on the way your beard grows but technically if people have the beard for a foil shaver foil will defeat rotary blades
I just did this with a nose hair trimmer (I actually soaked them overnight) and the metal part got badly discolored. I'm switching to baking soda instead.
I watched this video and said to my self that’s not good shaking your blades in a jar because they will hit the glass and it probably would hit the sharp part of the blade. Like the other review use a soft tooth brush and when cleaning brush the same way the blade go and not the other way because the brush will get cut and it will blunt the blade. If any one wants to sharpen there blades grab a piece of glass or small mirror put silicone metal polish on the mirror the turn the blades against the sharp edge just turn it round and round don’t press to hard your see the polish change colour do it for about two minutes then do the other two you’re know when they are sharp. This doesn’t need to be done a lot may be once a year or so.
hello your video was very good I've got a similar model with the Pop-Up trimmer do you know how to clean it out because mine didn't come with a cleaning brush
I don't think it's a good idea to shake that hard in a jar. Blades can get damaged that way. My own fast way is to use an old toothbrush. Vinegar is not necessary if you use a tool.
Thanks for the video... Can we drop multiple heads at the same time (inside one bottle)? Also do we need to oil the shaver/head? I read the manual and remember of it mentioned that we need to oil it.
It is important to keep the blades and heads matched hence I would suggest doing them one at a time. Foil shavers need to be oiled, there is nothing in the manuals for these that says to oil them. oil can trap the hairs and clog up the blades so i think best to keep them clean.
@@dodeedo thank you for the answer... In the manual, there is a picture where a drop of oil is dropped on the the blade opening... I never did that though...
Simple answer is hotter is better. I used some cooled water from the kettle. Of course you do not want it so hot it will burn you as you still have to hold the jar.
that is up to you, braun shavers need the lubrication which is not a requirement for Philips. the clippercide does much the same job plus the lubrication, this may be a cheaper method
Agree with you shaking that will cause the small and sharp blade dull better you use like andis cool care or Remington shaver2 to lubricate and clean your blades
@@dnee ow never knew that but yes put in a glass jar will not only wreck the jar but the blades aswell I just use normal grease gun white lithium grease and rinse it in water I just use the outher one because I'm to nervous I wouldn't be able to but it back together
Just use an old toothbrush and clean one head at a time......do not mix the heads as they wear in their groves..........once a week should keep your blades in great shape.....have my original heads for 5 years and shaves like new.....I think the original blades are made of a harder material than the replacement ones.....they always last the longest....
😯Cleaning the individual heads like that ruins the sharpening of the heads because you're shaking it against the glass.. Also, grease is a good thing.. You don't want to get rid of it with vinegar. Another thing not mentioned in the video is that if you clean the shaving heads, you always have to unlock them (and clean them) one at a time because they only fit in one slot.
So you can shake the hell out of it in vinegar..fine but 😂don't use tissue unmight damage the blades ...but no no sir thank you for that ive got the 7000 series little old but I use the cleansing solutions very good but think I need new blades but have no idea were to buy them ! But great upload least I now no I can run it underneath the tap ...what's best hot or cold sir please 💯💯👍🏼
@@dodeedo Thank you! I think I will take it back to the shop, because after first shave I had a such big skin irritation... especially on my neck area. Before.. and still I am using Braun series 3 shaver and never had that problem. But anyway, thanks for your help!
First off make sure the head is seated correctly, you should not be able to turn it. On the blue part there are 2 tabs at 4 & 8 O'Clock these need to line up with the tabs on the head and fit into the housing, they only go in one way. Once seated it is a small turn against the direction of the arrows (arrows to unlock) and they click in Hope this helps
Vinegar is too acidic. It will corrode the blades. Use wash up liquid like Dawn (in USA) or Fairy Liquid in UK. These will clean the blades with the help of a toothbrush. Oil the heads after cleaning with a drop of shaver oil.
You DEFINITELY should NOT shake the razor heads in the jar because that damages them when you hit them. The vinegar is great but the shaking is ridiculous.
Used this trick today to deep clean my shaver. It looks completely brand new. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. Edit: I actually changed the battery, used vinegar to degrease the heads, then resharpened them with toothpaste. It cost about £11 for the new battery and few hours to dismantle, clean and sharpen the blades, but the results are excellent. It's like a new shaver.
Really! DO NOT TRY TO DEEP CLEAN THE RAZOR HEADS. I am now the owner of a totally useless razor because it is impossible, even with instructions, to re-assemble the heads. The blue locking device is a piece of crap.
Cheers Good effort I’m just wondering if it’s really that critical to clean every spec of hair ,grit ,grime from these things? …… surely cant hurt though ….
