Let's take a look at the Maison Margiela Artisanal 2024 collection. A moving display of craftsmanship and artistry from Creative Director John Galliano and undoubtedly the best show this season. Developing 15 new couture techniques during the creation of this collection, the garments here represent 12 months of hard work from the expert seamstresses at the Margiela atelier.
In collaboration with Baz Luhrmann, this presentation began with a short film following Galliano muse, Leon Dame, on a journey through the nighttime Parisian streets, offline.
Join me in analyzing this beautiful, emotional collection that undoubtedly transcends typical fashion.

Of course! The Hungarian-French photographer he was partly inspired by was Brassaï. The painter was Kees Van Dongen

My third time seeing this film and collection. I've been a Galliano fan from the beginning. Always exceeds. Never a disappointment. What's next? Enjoyed your narration, too.

Wonderful analysis of a phenomenal show. The collection, the setting, the movement direction by Pat Boguslawski, Dame Pat McGrath's outstanding make-up looks, the soundtrack and the casting were all vital elements for this masterpiece of a fashion moment. Just wanted to point out that the precursor film was directed by Britt Lloyd, not Baz Luhrmann. I do think Baz said he would love to have directed that film himself though.

Thank you for the correction! I guess my research on the director was wrong! I’m glad you were so impacted by the collection as well and enjoyed the analysis. Thanks for watching:)

I have no words for your narration of this collection. Your voice is hypnotic and enhances the vision we are watching. I’ve watched this show 3 times now. Seeing more detail each time. It’s truly a masterpiece. Haunting and evoking of emotion . The garments themselves are art pieces , I would love to see and experience them up close i, in an exhibition. Didn’t know there was a film prior to the show itself. Thankyou fur posting . Throughly enjoyed it . ❤

Thank you so much 😊 this show was very special, I’d like to see them up close as well! Maybe one day. I can’t believe how much detail were in each of these looks and in the set design as well. That runway was just unreal and so authentic

@@jansengarside thank you. 🙏🏼 Such a great film btw, you have a way with words. I’ve subscribed! I do have one small suggestion, it’s nitpicking I know, but think about the pauses in presenting ur words. There were places I needed to catch a breath. But overall, wonderfully done film 🙌🏼

Victorian clothes often seem like the wearer isn't dressed warmly enough (to me). Like the women wear dresses and their legs are cold, and the jackets aren't warm enough or they don't wear any, and I don't think they have sweaters. And all the men have short hair, there isn't the variety of hair styles for men we see today. But maybe the era's fashion will grow on me. EDIT: Perhaps also the fabrics aren't as warm as ours today, not sure.

Victorian clothing were usually very layered. Men had undershirts, shirt, waistcoat, coat and overcoat. Women had undershirt, corset/stay, blouse, jacket, overcoat. Overcoats were usually from wool and during winter shirts, coats, waistcoats, jackets and blouses were also wool. Wool is a fantastic material for colder days. Up north, in Sweden even the undergarments were from wool during winter.

Silly comment. At what point has fashion ever clothed people (women especially) with warmth in mind.
@CapitalismSuxx
@CapitalismSuxx 6 месяцев назад
@@jonbettson7435 Nah fashion never dresses people, but when people dress they do fancy to stay warm. What really is silly is the belief that we today have "better materials" (when it's just plastic overload) than they did. Their materials were way superior, there's no contest. Plastics can never perform like wool or silk. There's no comparison.

I understand your thoughts but what we know from movies often is the right measure to understand what fashion really looked like-its only an Interpretation.. sure it was cold but we - „new humans“ pampered from heating… are not used to this anymore -people had to work the whole day to earn their money go by Foot etc… so fashion maybe was more „complicated“ (for us) bc there still werent tshirts or hoodies, but there was the possibility to wear real wool, fur and leather which is still a great resistant material for winter.
