Thank you so much... I am just going thru some diagnoses (doppler ultrasound and CT Angiogram of the head and neck and am finding out that my vascular anatomy (arteries) is very different than text book... I really appreciate how you methodically discuss these arteries and include variations that I understand are very common so normal is not 80 or 90% of the population but 40-50%. In my case my right anterior carotid artery supplies both frontal lobes thru the anterior communicating artery and my right external artery actually bifurcates at a right angle and descends rather than branch at a Y... I think that your emphasis of the possible of variation is critical for understanding how aging can produce medical issues (headaches, vison, vertigo) based on these anomalies.

any advice on studying and remembering the lymphatic drainage , arterial supply, venous drainage and innervation of every organ in the body in a way to connect it all? make them coherent with each other so its easier?
@SamWebster
@SamWebster 6 лет назад
Sorry, not really. Anatomy is a subject that needs a lot of time and there are few shortcuts. As you work your way around the body your knowledge grows, and soon enough all the separate parts start to link together and you'll find yourself describing these structures with ease.

This video appeared in my YT feed, so, I watched it. Thought it was quite good. I think that dissecting a cadaver is largely a waste of valuable time. Your expert use of anatomic models reinforces that opinion. Of course, other aids, electronic and otherwise are available. During neck dissection or in using the internal jugular v. for such things as cardiac electrode placement, it is possible to admit significant quantities of air, if one is not careful. Obviously one observes the meniscus carefully and adjusts the pt's . position accordingly. When mobilized, one is careful to control the vessel both proximally and distally. As to diagnostics, not only the level of the meniscus but also the actual nature of the various pulsation waves is useful. Think I'll watch some more of your videos.

Sam webster : Just when I think I have understood the theory, it all goes up in smoke in reality for me 😫. Because human flesh isn't as easy to ascertain as a model or even a 3d moving image for me. When you tilt the head or neck in even incremental amounts, everything flipping moves, and so when you are slicing through the layers, you THINK you have the correct positioning, but then you find yourself COMPLETELY lost and unable to find the structure you were looking for. I end up making a complete bodge job , causing larger 'injury' to the area out of desperation to find what i am looking for 😫😫😫. I am at my wits end and I don't think that I can grasp this. When millimetres count in surgically cutting through the layers of the neck, and it is wide and everything is flesh coloured, not pretty bright red, blue, yellow etc , I have to feel by texture. But I end up slicing up significantly more neck than necessary because I keep loosing where the structures have suddenly got to. Nothing is even and every part of the anatomy in a human body is slightly different to anothers. How on earth am I supposed to find the carotid artery in the neck, when it is sooo deep. It's flipping big enough, so I'm beginning to SIGNIFICANTLY doubt my ability to achieve this!!! If I can't find that then what hope do I have??? What angle do you have to cut into, in order to get the straightest route down to the carotid artery please??? Xxx

I have neck pain only when I train so that's why I came here. I can feel the pain pulsing so I figured out that maybe I damaged a blood vessel. When I do push-ups and my head is lower than my body I can feel pressure building up and when I get up from this position I can feel really bad pain I can't stand this pain anymore pls help 🙏
@secretimam2487
@secretimam2487 3 года назад
It seems more of a nerve problem, a neuralgia due to wearing away of the myelin sheath of the nerve, so every time the pulse increases the nerve gets rubbed against and you get the pain. See a doctor, and you might be advised surgery to place a cushion between your nerve and blood vessel. Since the information is insufficient as to where in the neck you have pain, I can only guess a probable condition. Best see a doctor.
