SERMON THAT MOTIVATED ME LIKE CRAZY: • The Danger of Worldly ...
Come along with me as I minimalize for Jesus! Today I did some major decluttering and cleaning my room... I was really inspired after watching a sermon on how americans are so obsessed with STUFF. I was convicted, so I started going through my piles of "things." It has helped me grow closer to God through the process. I am so thankful I get to take you along with me :) i hope this gives you some cleaning motivation!

I’ve been in the process of minimizing the past few years, and one thing I learned about the “What if I need this later,” mentality is that it is the Deceiver talking. “What if I need this ONE DAY,” means you’re focusing on the future and not trusting God to give you that item back when you need it. In the instance of the corkboard, consider the price of rebuying it. They aren’t that expensive and you might need a bigger size, or that one breaks while you’re waiting. As simple and corny as it sounds, give that board to God and trust that you can buy one later if and when you need it. God is never ever going to leave you without anything you need. Even something as simple as a corkboard.

I love what you shared about worshiping Jesus all day long even in the mundane tasks. I was praying for God to show me ways I can worship him throughout the day and when you mentioned it in this video I was so glad! ❤️

This is something that I was struggling with for a while. I was in a phase where I just wanted more and more. I would seek happiness from materialistic stuff and at the end I only felt overwhelmed. Our happiness should come from Jesus alone because HE IS enough! Thank you for making this video! You have inspired me to declutter my room! ❤😁😉

I want to start by saying thank you. Near the end of this video you talked about how our normal daily activities don't have to be separated from worship, which is something I have never thought of before. I'm currently in a tough spot in my life, and I'm optimistic about growth in my faith and how it connects with all that I do. So... taking your advice; I thank God for bringing me to your video to learn and grow, the ability to have internet and a computer to seek Him through others nationwide, and for eyes & ears to see and listen to you speak. Amen. Christ never gets old. My house needs a lot of work, but Christ renews us day by day. Just decluttered the kitchen. That was good/ a lot. Theres still more that needs to be done.

Wow, great teaching on how cleaning, exercise, etc. can be worship - if we do these things with a godly mindset. I learned that many years ago, but over time had forgotten. I loved this Ashley! It's so true...we have too much stuff. I've spent the last couple of months de cluttering my house. It's amazing how much better it is and how good it feels. I tried not to think about everything when I was making piles of stuff to donate. I knew if I put too much thought in it the process would stall and I would stop. Some things were hard to get rid of but I did it! I have a craft room so my objective was to organize it too. Tomorrow I'm finishing that up. It does give us greater joy and less worry when we have less stuff weighing us down in life. Thanks for this video!

11:54 (re: Dilemma “I could use it again but I don’t need it now”) I remember an organizing guru say once that if you don’t need it now but you think you can use it later and it’s in good shape donate it or sell it. If you need one again In the future you can buy another. If it’s not in the best of shape and you don’t need it now then trash it. It may seem “wasteful” to rebuy what you bought but chances are you won’t need it again and if and when you do, you just buy another of whatever it is. Another guru also said that it’s taking up rental space in your area. I never really thought of it but all of our stuff is renting the space we put the items in. Do we really need all these “tenants” taking up our area “real estate” or is time for an eviction?! 😁

I usually donate things that I'm not ever going to use again. If they are nice things then I sell them.I went through a apartment fire. After that I try keeping everything simple. We are happier when we keep things simple. Desk looks great. Bookcase looks good. Lavender smells so good. Your room looks good.

You go girl !!! You just showed God you care more about him then your stuff which is 👍 great!!! He sure loves you more than you know to perch all of the things we collect over the years. Personally I'm a huge hogger and all my stuff is in my storage unit. I'm staying with my friend right now with my husband. I just recently went through all my stuff and only got rid of just a bag of clothes. Feels great but I know I need to get rid of much more!!!

Use the cork board to create a dream board. Use it for to do lists, use it to map out your goals. Our favorite quotes on it. Make it so every time you see it, you feel nothing but positivity. Use it as another tool, and it no longer becomes clutter. Think “how can I use this to better myself” and if there’s no reason..Toss it

I literally always struggle with whether I should keep something or not because I don't want to be considered a hoarder but I think that you should keep it because Everytime that I threw something away that I thought I might need in the future I ended up needing.

Loved this video! Decluttering/minimising has been on my mind recently & this just really touched me! I put too much value into material things, thinking its going to provide me some type of joy or contentment...when in reality I should be seeking God & His will/Word for those feelings!

The minimalists have the 20 20 rule (or something like that). If you're unsure and you can get it within 20 minutes, under 20 dollars, and within 20 miles just ditch it and you can always replace if you feel the need for it someday. I am a master declutterer, I feel myself much less anxious and overwhelmed when my house is neat, tidy, and clutter free. Good luck!

I love the paintings and portraits you have of Jesus + coffee. Where do you get them? That literally is my life just having a cup of coffee with Jesus and just having a conversation with Him. Now you got me into studying the Word and drinking lots of coffee throughout the day cause getting to know Jesus and obeying His will for my life have become my main focal point in life.

Hi Ashley, I know I'm a bit late to the party in the comments. I have a suggestion for your dilemma with regard not knowing if you should keep the cork board for later or not. All of our belongings usually occupy rooms and we tend to keep things until they become clutter. As a rule, I keep my belongings in plastic storage boxes including clothes and store them in the attic. I have some smaller boxes where I keep my clothes/toiletries in the house. I will keep a few of my things on desk/shelf space, but just what I need and am using at the time. By allowing myself a set amount of boxes to store things in, it becomes obvious then that I can't keep it if it cannot be stored in my set amount of boxes. It puts limits on what I own for my own good and own sanity. It is not a nice feeling to be in a space that is stuffed to the gills with things. It also means that if you need to move house, that it won't be a horrible nightmare to sort through years of accumulated clutter. I hope this helps. God Bless.

#keepthecorkboard. Unless you really don't intend on using it. Things you can use it for are: Inspiring Scriptures, To Do Lists, Family/Friends photos, Prayer lists, Answered prayers, Things I'm thankful for, Homework assignments, etc. BTW, I'm from Florida and I will be in Chicagoland area the first week of July. Any recommendations? Thanks!

That's why I became a minimalist and I love it. I have more time to spend with Jesus...You need to get rid of what ever is not fulfilling a purpose in your life right now according to your life style. If you need the cork board later in your life you can always get one. That's my opinion. Great video!
