Becoming A Minimalist As A CHRISTIAN | WHAT it means, WHY to do it, HOW to start 

[SORRY this comment is so long] I'm only 16 and I feel as if I'm too young to start minimizing just bc nobody my age is really interested in it so I feel like I'm the odd one out, and the fact that I live w my parents and I doubt they are willing to change their lifestyle so the farthest I could go w it is in my own room. I've been wanting to work on my relationship w God and I think including minimalism will be so helpful to me, as well as getting off social media. Thank you for the video, it helped a lot. Thank you for this! I'm a Christian myself and I've been looking into videos about minimalism and it change my mind completely. Got rid off so much stuff but,, when you mentioned all those verses is a whole different view, like it opened my eyes. I knew about not being greedy but it was a bit hard to let go off things when you really liked them but Christianity helped in a way that you would never imagined, because that type of help, you cannot find it anywhere else. I'm also in Washington state! And I totally relate to your struggle with clutter. I specifically searched for a christian perspective on this and I love the connection of the rich young ruler. I'm learning to let go of things I don't need. I think that has been the hardest part of decluttering over the years and it kept me from keeping my space neat. I'm finally free from the hold that had on me and ready to live a minimalist lifestyle in order do what God has for me to do. I will finally have the organization to move forward. I do want to ask you though, please dont be that youtuber that ends up making videos for content and leaving Jesus out of them.. I have found youtubers i love because of the way they talked about Jesus and their faith, the way they study the bible etc. and then they make all these videos for content and end up never even mentioning Jesus, Christianity, the Bible. etc. like wait... Why did i subscribe? Oh ya.. Where is the Jesus in this channel?. Sp please keep making videos like this and do NOT let the haters get to you. I want to start but I always felt like I needed to get rid of everything all at once, everything in life takes time and patience I am learning. Take he first steps, stop getting more stuff, and eventually the results will show.

I needed this so much today! Thank you for making the connection to Christianity! As a believer I thought this way for a long time! I'm a stay at home mama, homeschool mama and I work part time for my church as the admin and I feel like I'm drowning even though I decluttered a lot...im working on doing another big purge lol

A lot of counties have foster closets where children in foster care can get clothes for free 🙂 Many times kids come in care with nothing but the clothes they have on. These organizations give clothes/necessities to these kids for free! They usually take kid's clothing sizes newborn through teen. Just a tip for another great place to donate!

From South Africa. We have load shedding nearly daily. Over the weekend now, we are having a break. Praise the Lord🎉We have a gas oven and hob and a generator which needs fixing right now. Here all the businesses rely heavily on generators. Most of the time we have water as our municipality has a generator for the pump. Sometimes the batteries get stolen. We have rechargeable bulbs and a battery to charge some emergency lights. The worst is the heat, fridges being off, no computer for homeschooling. So we have to have an adaptable schedule and old fashioned schooling too. The upside is it brings out creativity and the children started doing puzzles and playing monopoly and card games again. I also discovered how many chores you can do without electricity. Blessings.

I’ve been itching to declutter since my husband and I have downsized to a duplex. My faith also inspired me to reevaluate how I shop, (food waste, thrifting, donating, etc.) Home decor is my biggest problem! I want our home to look nice but I’ve actually made it more cluttered instead. 🙃 I would add on to strictly shop at thrift stores and if an item isn’t there-oh well, you likely don’t need it! It’s a discipline! I enjoy thrift stores with a purpose too, I shop and donate to Hospice of the East Bay. We need to remember scripture always- “But the day when the Lord comes again will surprise everyone like the coming of a thief. The sky will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in the sky will be destroyed with fire. And the earth and everything in it will be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10

God bless you, what a lovely honest video. This is how I have lived for decades ( am nearly eighty!), as a Christian we need so little stuff, just the basics. Have always thought how very hard it must be to live a simple life in materialistic, consumerist America, so thank you for sharing your journey.

Beginning my journey especially now that I'm having my 3rd baby. I will say I used to clean rich people's home at one point and the ones with the most stuff were so unhappy. I remember this lady had a huge jacuzzi tub which she never used because it was full of stuff. Stuff doesn't equal happiness.

Can someone offer me a little advice? I'm 60 years old. I was an avid reader of great literature and 20th century American short stories. I would collect books faster than I could read them, hoping I could read them when i had "more time". They're in bins and on shelves and honestly i just want to focus on my Orthodox Study Bible now and my other religious books. I don't have much free time because I also take care of pets and an elderly parent in addition to my own family. I feel fiction is a distraction from that. My dilemma is, should I donate the books or is it better to discard them so I don't encourage others to lose their focus on Christ?

More people should realize is that having many material possessions will never make them happy.

One way I’m a Christian minimalist is only having the Bible as my word. A lot of these book is how to and be the best role is distracting it’s literally all in the Bible. A Bible study book is great too but not these books out here that throw in a few scriptures and share their opinion about life instead of the word.

The earth is flat, a circular disk, and doesn't move, It's writen in the bible, do you believe it? I am muslim and I believe in every single word of the Quran, because It's God's words, the one and only creator of everything, and It says that the earth is flat too, and I believe it for 100./. , most people leave their holy books and follow what "science" or people say, I just want you to focus on what's writen in your holy book, read it all, don't choose what's beautiful and leave the rest, It's the truth. The truth is beautiful. I agree with all what you said about minimalism, and I hope that practicing it will help you feel better and live in peace.
