WELL RU-vidRS!!! WE MESSED UP BIG TIME! LIVE LESSON FRIDAY Ended up on SWRNC Tonite on Accident! But it turned out really well.. It was a LOONNG Video Of Block Sanding Bondo and alot of good tech tips where handed out.. Make sure to check us out next week on DIYAUTOSCHOOL.. Thanks for all the WONDERFUL SUPPORT and GREAT COMMENTS --- Even The HATERS!
swrnc the red cream hardners seem to come with cheap fillers. Evercoat is not far from where i live a state over the reason they are better the resins used are finest quality available its personal preference brand regional almost all fillers like Pete said will last the life of the car. and really cheap filler will clog paper faster, many test on this but only high volume shops are going to see a cost savings. I got 1 for you 3M and their cat food can of premium filler $9.99 are you frickn kidding me I picked 1 up just to see how bad there ripping people off, what a big corporate scam.
Perfect in every way Pete. Your video should be used in classrooms all over the world. The off centered chemistry that you and Minnie seem to deliver back and forth with each other verbally is also perfect. You two feed off of each other like seasoned actors in a good Hollywood movie. The bantering verbally works like a charm. It actually keeps people's attention if that makes sense to you. Don't change a thing and leave it like it is. You can't improve on perfection. If you try to change the way that you and her communicate on camera, you will mess the balance up. The entire production works extremely well for viewers who are attracted to your videos. Keep up the good work you guys and I hope you both make so much money that you accidently get filthy rich. Really good instructional video. Prosperity and good health to both of you.
My friend Pete and body shop Minnie, I enjoyed the extra long video as Pete covered 37 different correct procedures and 14 new tips on Bondo, and other products mixing and usage. To me, this is invaluable and saved to my favorites.Thank you for all your efforts on the little Honda. Omaha.
My Friend Pete ... I found your video from many moons ago about stopping Vapour lock on your Beetle and it worked a treat on mine ... I’ve now subscribed to your channels and really enjoy your outlook on life & tips ... so Hi from England 👍
Sorry I missed it Pete and Minnie! :(. I didn't forget, I just fell asleep waiting for it to start. Good news is I can watch it now with a cup of tea and my little boy is beside me on the floor playing with his cars :) Thank you for educating and entertaining us all. Love you guys!
Getting ready for paint and this is by far the best video and very informative. I've watched it about 3 times and feel very confident in getting my car ready for primer and paint
Pete i missed this in live, but watched it on u-tube. Always appreciate your video's. Even save some to my facebook page so i can watch over. Learn every time. Thank you and Minnie.
Man! I’ve been spending money on 3M sand paper and outrageous bondo! So glad I found this! I’m tired of getting bent over by material prices. I’d like to give some of those guys the finger myself. They need to stop gouging us. It’s sinful what they ask for paint and materials. And the prices continue to raise.
i.commented the whole live show. Big supporter. I really really want them sanding blocks. and of course the shirt. anything from my friend Pete would be bad ass. and would be a life long tool to keep around.
Great video! I'm about to embark on my first attempt to repair a dent that it simply way too expensive compared to the car's value. I don't expect it to look professional but better than looking like I slapped a bunch of Bondo on it. Thanks for showing the whole process cause even though other videos give you the same steps with much of the key info, they are missing a lot of the minor, but very critical details like how much hardener to use depending on temp and humidity or the actual technique on mixing it. Without this I was on my way to really crappy results.
It's nice when the car is black, then the final guide coat is inherent. ;-) And yeah, when my father and I built a Long EZ aircraft, we used bondo extensively building up "in place" wood jigging, like plywood edge to HDF work table surface. Works GREAT, you can even accurately bring up the jigging surface if using the putty action of the bondo between blocks, leaving fairly large gaps between the wood pieces. Usually, it took a hammer to knock the large area bonds apart afterward, so it was PLENTY strong for that application, just strong enough, actually, as it left the table surface mostly intact for future jigging work, where a REAL wood glue, like say Titebond II or epoxy would have destroyed the table top on removal, without cutting and grinding it away carefully (major time consuming). We also used it to bond the epoxy fiberglass (S glass) parts to the jigs (spot bonded) and that worked well, too. Just tapped the jigs right at the bonds sideways to gently break the bonds between the part and the jig, without delaminating the cured glass from the foam cores, and then ran a scraper over the removed part to bring it down to flush quickly, and good to go. If necessary any micro-high spots got knocked in final finishing. Sometimes the strongest thing ISN'T the best for a specific application, especially when you need it to "disassemble" easily.
great job as always, dont worry about some folks out here on youtube land still drinking the Hateraid, you guys rock. from a dude here in Michigan that does a little auto body and paint work too.
wow i love your information videos cuz this happens to me all the time where just things didn't go the way i wanted. LOL But i do like what you say never quit and that is what i am doing. I am learning through RU-vid and honestly you guys make it look super easy. Im working on a 1970 521 Datsun and I am doing Body work. So thanks for all your Schooling very helpful to me.:)
I love this video. I am a diy person and have an old car that has some body work done. You said there was a way to use bondo on plastic bumper cover. How do you do that?
I was taught by a Spanish man at the age of 10 years old i learned by watching him he didn't speak any english , but the up side i learned a lot from him just by watching, can't too many people out block me that was the first i learned is how to straighten a panel about 40 years ago 😉👍
completely enjoyed your video I also enjoy the live segments keep up the good work I have learned several Tech tricks especially enjoyed the video with no profanity I caused as you do but I have to censor when the kids are around
Thanks again Pete and Minnie, long lesson, but an hour and a half is much less than struggling to learn this stuff from nothing with no help or direction.
To the person asking about rust coming through bondo: Because my body shop was in Newark New Jersey surrounded by salt water near the docks, our rule of thumb to avoid rust, we had between 10-20 minutes between grinding and primer or bondo. Once we had exposed metal, we DID NOT TOUCH IT BARE HAND. Even wet sanding was a killer. We used air and acetone to help us beat the clock. I was the painter, prepping was stressful. I hope today’s products are better. I mean, I’m in Arizona now, rust is nowhere near the problem in Newark New Jersey.
Hi My friend Pete. I have an unopened container of bondo 3 here. I noticed you are using bondo 2 in your projects. The door handles to my Ram truck are shaved, with oval shaped metal spot-welded onto each of the 4 doors in place of the handles. I was advised to have the metal pieces completely welded all the way around prior to prepping for paint, but I am concerned about warping the doors further. Would it be possible to use bondo in between the crevices before paint prep, and if so, bondo 2 or 3 (or 4)?
he doesn't just get irritated with Minnie, but i'm sure it's hard to change. Doubt HE would put up when the situation is reversed. Have to take him no too seriously, and I'm sure that's who he sees it too. He could be worse. Good thing he is funny!
he is an abusive grumpy old fool...imagine how he treats poor Mitty off camera??? i cant watch this shit its pretty upsetting...im out!!!! life is to short and way to precious to be a grumpy abusive goof... give your head a shake Pete .....your an ugly person!!!!!!!
Pete can't wait to meet you in Utah my name is Travis I bought the middle finger from you talk to you a little quite a while ago I built a 1963 Ford truck by watching your videos now I am help running a full body shop collision repair shop thank you bro I'll see you when you get to Utah sorry I don't chat much
Pete, you should make a slideshow compilation of pictures/photos of all the cars, truck, vans, bikes etc you have restored since you started when you were a young man to current date. That's something different
thanks Pete and Minnie, is that mask you had good for paint or just bondo dust? Eastwood in Ohio is hosting a 2 day seminar with Gene Winfield, i think you mentioned him in one of your other videos. Just wondering if you think it would be worth the $450 bucks and 100 mile drive?
Supporting you brother! Love your channel! Was wondering what Minnie looked like! Blessed man! Hope you guys succeed in everything you do in life! God bless.
I really enjoy "My Friend Pete" videos. My brother Joe told me about him and I check in to see whats going on and I learn something every time. Thanks a bunch Pete!
minnie's cute...i like when she gets excited....she a lot more fun to be around then on a long road trip for biking....you know that time she blew a head gasket...something about make sure you travel with a "...blanky-blanky A-Blank".
The red harder is different in that if you use the bondo brand spreaders you mix the bondo to match the the color of the spreader to know how much hardner to use
Absolutely great tutorial on body working, full marks to the camera operator she is good, like all women they can always multi -task, not like us guys.more videos please?
I'll share one.. when I apply bondo in deep or large areas I embed nylon mesh tape and it makes it indestructible!, and you can cover holes, cracks any void and it lasts with superior strength and its cost friendly
just a quick question i got rear ended and its just the bumper and the quarter panel is pushed out whats the best way for me to fix it?? hammer? or any other way? swrnc
