different vibe playing in LA compared to Texas..less of a stage in Texas..like watching the Tripple A all-star game instead of the Majors..no offense to Polk and Owen who have a great card club but its not HCL.. i also don't respect Doug as a poker player rather he is just a content creator who has broken down hands yet thinks he's more of a pro than Keating?.. Dwan seems very forgiving towards him which I guess happens when money is involved.. I would not forgive someone who openly posts videos about my debts and breaks things down... he was not the star of the show last year, Dwan was by owning him along with Rampage, Wes, Blank Check Ben,JRB, Rob Yong, Huss ect.. Tom vs Doug was great but this year they were all buddy buddy with Steve which was like watching some weird Seinfeld episode.. i prefer Tom mad and playing at this most focused.

@michaeledwards1644 lol how old are you? Doug was a very good poker pro wayyyy before he was a content creator. Best HU player in the world back then and likely still is. He has battled against all the top guys online and live with a lot of success. And while he is still more know for cash games and heads up, he still has some big notable tourney wins like the One Drop. Horrible take.

Aside from the people who are already rich, most of the pro poker players are in debt or owe money. Doug Polk is probably one of the few who isn't.

Doug has the Lodge on-line on RU-vid. I watch it all the time... But I am literally about 8 miles away from the Lodge. So I like to watch it since it's so close to me. I'm 100% sure that Doug could put a million dollar game on.

I remember Alan Keating from way back in the Moneymaker era of poker, always thought he was a pro and he played in some big games. So when I saw his first appearance on HCL and played like a true whale I was shocked...but had a feeling it was part of an act to keep getting invited and saving his true skills for the bigger games.

The Pro's want the no names. They don't want to play against other pro's. That is what Doug means when he says it's not a good line up.

Too many nit businessmen dictating the lineups, same thing happened during the HCL 24 hour stream when they didn't allow Martin Kabrhel, he's obviously an asshole but that's great for viewership. I feel like you could easily build a million dollar game with just pros like Doug, Dwan, Keating and Charles, sure it's going to be a tough game but it's once a year and an opportunity to build a name for yourself.

That would be funny if the whale they were trying to appease the most is the one that took them for 5 mill, didn’t even speak English, and hit and run the game twice.

Game was terribly organized NONE of the lineups were as advertised it makes no sense

Doug was always scheduled for 1 day of play, but there was hope he could play more and he just ended up in a really bad game

@@tanthony298 Ryan is his own worst enemy. He’s jumped from ESPN to Live at the Bike,where he had a relationship with Luda for several months. Luda ended up getting banned from playing poker at LATB and Ryan begged them to let Luda come back. Now,Luda is killing the players at hustler live stream and Ryan is back in the groove again.

I’m sure they weren’t happy with him advertising his own business and taking over the conversation during the stream. Doug talked politics,trump and other topics. The poker community doesn’t like it at the table. Ryan and Nick didn’t want to risk not having control over the conversations at the table. Usually,the commentators will shut off a mic or put up advertising to drown out the conversation they don’t want heard. IMO,that’s why Doug didn’t get invited back.

I much prefer the commentators on HCL compared to the lodge.

@@present3348 that's the diplomacy part i was talking about. Not insisting here...eh well, i guess it wasn't a gamebreaker or anything. I also think taking interviews in cash games is annoying for the players. Would've much rather enjoyed Nick smoking and her drinking a glass of wine siting on the couch talking about the game. But that's just me.

You’ve completely misunderstood the situation. Doug’s not talking about the day he played. He wanted to play again the following day, but hcl told him no because the following day would be no pros allowed. They said no pros allowed but then allowed Tom to play. Which is sketchy as hell
