This was a major backyard makeover with a 12’6” exposed naval style Everlast Vinyl seawall. The new dock is constructed with 6” Piling’s embedded a minimum of ten feet in the sand. We installed a Golden Sea drive boat lift this lift was installed with straps due to the shallow water.

Your videos are so detailed and well done. I’m in construction but have been looking to transition into marine construction. Watching your videos the past year has been so helpful. Thank you!

For you guys improve the back of that house with that new Seawall and looks beautiful

These guys do good work.... I always wondered how long equipment lasts for the Marine companies under those harsh conditions. It must be expensive as hell to build docks and seawall because if you have to replace your equipment every 6 to 7 years and the caterpillar 308 it's about $170,000 that is not pocket change.... I've been to auctions and you can tell the equipment that was used by the Marine companies... Because they're all rotten to hell.... Marine companies most least their equipments

I could see some sort of handrailing along that long stretch of dock. The flow through decking is really nice and the steps down to the water too.

Have you guys done (or considered doing) a boathouse with sleeping quarters (maybe a shotgun-style camelback)?

Thanks for watching my videos and yes, we would love to do that but unfortunately in this area of Florida, they do not allow enclosed boat houses

@@DaleWHickman I know after Hurricane/Tropical Storm Henri, a number of people opted to redesign their homes to have breakaway walls on the first floor of the structure. Do you think it’s possible to get a variance for this? Granted, I understand that you’d have to get approved by both the state and local/municipal code enforcement offices, but do you think they would consider it? If not, maybe it would be worth it to approach academia to see if the faculty of engineering and architecture departments would take interest in this. They may like to design a model in CAD (e.g. AutoDesk Architecture, ReVIT, etc.) and run it through a CFD program to test its ability to withstand a CAT 5. Anyway, if there’s any promise at all with this coming to fruition, real estate owners/investors in certain areas may be willing to fund such research projects. It may be worth checking out.

Love the video! What size barge do you operate the 308 off of?

Hey Mr Dale what is the longest pilling you can drive with your 308 excavator.
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman Год назад
I think the longest so we have been requested so far is 50 feet

Enjoy your videos. Question- i never see you compacting the fill behind the walls in "lifts" . I'snt there a lot of settling with the loose backfill?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching my page in your comment. We do a lot of water getting behind here to settle the dirt out. I don’t like compacting and lifts due to the pressure on the wall, and not being able to have proper filtration in the soil.

Lotta times they put coarse graded ( porous) drain rock in backfill from bottom of fillto about 1-2’ avove maxe tidewater elevation.

To reduce backfill pressure on wall.

nice job what are you using for your tie backs?
@DaleWHickman

Thanks for your question. We use a variety of different tieback systems from 6 inch to 8 inch pilings to manta ray anchors.

Thanks for watching my video and your comment. I get most of our stuff at a local rubber supply specialty store and the pipes come from Lowe’s and Home Depot.
