My stress level escalated through the roof when Andy was cutting on the opposite side from where you were nailing! If you miss a 2x4, those nails shoot through the OSB & will end up impaling someone.

I am really appreciating all the aspects of this video: The delivery timing, constructing, nice weather, the trusty excavator, and the slight ragging from Courtney! Even the "crib" for the little one on the jobsite! Courtney looks fantastically good in this one.

Sheathing in meant to go on horizontally, the lines are there for nailing even if they don't line up with your studs. You eyeball the offset when nailing. The window seats should be doubled, and your interior walls should have corner studs...how are you sheet rocking it? Any books on residential framing would be a help. Good luck.
@keithherring5462

No. Sheathing can go either way and I have never seen it put on horizontal. There is also absolutely no reason to have a double sill on a window.

When framing the exterior walls, always frame 3 stud CHANNELS where interior walls intersect providing 1 1/2" backing for both corners and backing to nail interior walls to exterior as well as cutting a 3 1/2" channel in 2nd exterior top plate and leaving 3 1/2" "ear" interior 2nd top plate to linking log top plates.

We typically apply the sheets horizontal not vertical. The horizontal application is stronger because they would tie 7 wall studs together when using 16 centers. When applied vertical the sheets only tie 4 wall studs together. Also we would add a jack stud underneath the window sill/plate.

When climbing baker scaffolding without the safety rails, you will find it much easier going up and down if you grab around the edge of the top plank. There is an overhang that is very convenient to grab onto. Though ideally you should have the safety rails in place unless clearance does not allow for it.

I know you guys care a lot about safety but, this episode shows how easy it is to still cause mistakes that can cause serious harm. One thing I've done (for decades now) is to have a safety meeting after the planning meeting. Sounds silly but it can have a great impact on your limbs and life. My rule is to have at least one minute of safety meeting for every five of planning. In other words, if it takes you fifteen minutes to discuss a plan to lift the first truss, spend three minutes talking about what could go wrong and how to mitigate it. Trust me I understand the feeling that you want to be like Nike and "Just do it!" but spending 18 minutes instead of 15, can really do a lot towards putting everyone's head in the 'safe space'. Just to be clear, I did not think ahead of time, "Oh if they bump a chain they could drop a truss on the line handler." but that is exactly the risk that was present. Nor did I think (in the moment) that there is a hammer above Courtney, and yet there was. Even if the safety meeting doesn't cover every possible outcome (like those in the video), it will go a long way to preventing accidents from becoming casualties. Love the channel, you both are super awesome! And as my wife and I say to each other on a daily basis, "Be safe, have fun, and kick ass!"

You guys are great to watch. Id suggest studying a bit more like framing before you attempt it. It's not rocket science, as you know. It's hard for me to watch obviously smart people do things wrong. Pro tip, sheathing goes on the wall when laying flat then tip the whole thing up. Another interior pro tip, you need inside corners on interior walls, you don't have any. Your outside wall should have the provisions in them when you build out the exterior wall framing.

Battery operated nailers are great for a few things but will cause problems if you try and use them like this all of the time. Think about using it mainly for small jobs, tight spots, and out of reach of a hose things (attics, roofs, basement crawl spaces, under decks, etc.). @@AmbitionStrikes The way I kept it from jamming was by using only one rack of nails at a time. When I would get to about 4-5 nails remaining, I would remove those nails and use a full rack again. It saved time not having to be on air and dragging a hose, but was a massive waste of nails. DeWalt has known about this issue and has unfortunately just let it ride. Other than the jamming, it was a decent electric nailer. I replaced it with the more expensive Paslode Framing nailer and have had no issues for 3 years.
