Awesome job Meg. You are my hero. Each one of your videos I watch, I learn something new myself. I am going to be 70 years old on December 4th and still willing to learn. Thank you Meg for all your videos. I am currently making wooden American flags for family and friends. One day when I get better I might decide to sell a few.
Incredible job I wish I could like it twice. Just a quick note on water purification as an ex window cleaner from the UK. Steer clear of DI resin filtered water. As it literally pulls vital nutrients out of the body. It can make you really sick from drinking DI resin water. Huge fan of the channel long time subscriber much love from the UK
i can see what you meant about Mike being a great teacher. spectacular job of talking us through the process when he was all alone in the pumphouse with youtube.
You two work well together. It is great that Mike knows a lot about construction and I think he did a great job on the plumbing of the filters and outside faucet. Congrats on having the well house almost finished. Love the videos and it is nice to see Mike being in the videos more often. Looking forward to the next video.
Hi Meg I Love watching your projects and all your misshapes and successes I love the well house. I'm glad you sold the intersmational. I suggested that a couple weeks ago. I wish you guys could come help me with my homestead. I love seeing Mike in the videos now.🤠🤠🤠❤️
Awesome job, Mike really knows his stuff. I have worked on wells here in Newfoundland, we have to vent the well so it doesn't collapse due to the draw down pressure of the well, maybe worth looking into. Also if you have any minerals in your water like manganese, you may want to relocate the UV light to after the filter. The minerals will stick to the quartz sleeve in the UV housing possibly allowing bacteria to get by. I may be able to give you some tips on it if you like.
Brilliant couple, I love watching your videos and Mike is definitely a keeper. So looking forward to seeing more and more of your progress. Meg, you're a superstar. Mike, come and build me a house.
Around here we use in-well pumps with the water connection below the frost line. Then there is no need for a well house or any frost protection. The in well pump is a little more expensive but still much cheaper than a well house, slab etc. ! The filter system, breakers etc. can then be located inside the house where it's a heated space and more accessible for maintenance.
Interesting build, the green insulating stuff looks familiar. Mike's experience certainly shows, he's using for example the pneumatic nailer with such an certainty and ease, which only comes after experience :) Good idea to sell the backhoe, if it's just sitting on the property and not useful at all, it's better to sell it. Winter is approaching fast here too, just yesterday changed winter tyres on my car, as next week, between tuesday and wednesday night it may snow here for the first time this fall.
Cheers, Meg and Mike! You two definitely have no trouble working at heights! The well house went up without a hitch and it's great you found a buyer for the Intersmashinal :) I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and have a happy Halloween!
For a quick and easy temporary concrete anchor (or perment in non critical areas), I've found a bent over nylon zip tie shoved into a hole with a screw driven in to have incredible hold strength. 20:34
Suggest to insulate back of door. just needs 2 inches with plastic on the outside and then maybe thin ply. Rock wool is from mineral and is extremely fire resistant so you won't have a grenfell tower fire situation.
You need some type of water treatment system to disinfect the well water, chlorination, UV light, etc. I have had a will for 23 years. Drinking untreated well water can be risky. Well water that tests safe to drink may become contaminated later. I use a chlorination system. Chlorine removes the sulfur smell, if your well water contains sulfur, a rotten egg odor. A Carbon filter on the final output stage makes the well water taste better. If you go with chlorination you will need a chlorination tank to provide enough storage for twenty minutes of contact time. My son uses UV light to disinfect the well water. He can do that because his well water does not contain sulfur, so he does not have that problem to deal with. Either way, good luck on your well water. Depending on how cold it gets where you are, you might need a heat source inside the well house on extremely cold nights. My neighbor uses a 1500 watt electric heater that has a thermostat. He paid $20 for it. It keeps the inside of the well house above 40 degrees.
Them extra wide tracks will save in mud and sand.because of the extra wide load displacement in keeping the machine moving, instead of it sinking and getting stuck,It's the same thing with some bulldozer and excavators, they use them in extra muddy and sandy, conditions in Florida and in Swamppy areas just FYI
You'll have much better control and therefore greater accuracy with the circular saw if you hold it with both hands instead of waving it at arms length. It would be safer too.
You should get your water tested before drinking. Many universities will do it for free. Also, you might put an incandescent bulb in yout well house. It provides some heat so your pipes dont freeze.
What are your plans for the land? What sort of crops can you grow on a high water table like it? Vegetables maybe? Or just rearing animals? Chickens, goats, etc. What do the neighbors do with theirs?
No better feeling than drinking fresh water from your own well! Just keep in mind those bladder tanks can go bad over time (about 10 years) and make your water taste funny! As we figured out this year when our we guy came to connect to our new house 😢. But at least it's fixable ❤ Enjoy it 😊
Meg, save yourself a lot of pain and suffering and either wear gloves when carrying those rough studs used in building the walls, or at least do not grab a bunch of them and slide then in your bare hands like you did at 3:40 in this video. You can get a massive splinter in your hands doing that. Stay safe.
For most things it does, but not for building. I don’t think anyone uses metric when building. All the components and systems are set up for imperial and it works, so this will likely never change.
Y'all got it, but we don't get any we need rain so bad. I can stuff you in one of the cracks and Korea. Maybe you and him both together. The ground's cracking home so bad
A friend of mine has high iron, he fills a 5 gallon bucket and lets it sit for a few days. The iron oxidizes and falls out of solution and he's got drinking water.
You are tasting organic iron and tannins. All you are doing is inactivating the pathogens in the water with filters and UV. A larger pressure tank before filtration will save your pump.
I use reverse osmosis to filter the water I drink. Think about heating the wellhome. You have electricity there for the pump, all you need to do is connect some heater to a thermostat that will automatically maintain the temperature. In extreme cases, you can use candles to heat the wellhome.
What you guys call a mantle over a door or a window we call a header.👍👍🫵 2 🪨 Congratulations on getting your pump house finished also getting your water running sincerely Chuck
