I'm in the same boat Tom. I was given piano lessons for two years back in the early 60's. I stopped working at it because I wasn't being taught anything that interested me. I wanted Chubby Checker and got classical training. Too young and unmotivated to realize I should have just done it on my own. Someone said "never to late" in these comments. Oh Yeah - picked up stringed instruments late in life and couldn't be happier about that decision. (or the choice to start watching these videos - stuff this good wasn't available back in the day, you had to get lucky and run into someone as good as these guys that would be willing to help)

I don't know if you'll see this but 15+ years of playing and I've ALWAYS avoided the major pentatonic, avoided the relative minor thing out of fear! this makes SO much sense now! Good shit boys. I was working on some Deep Ellem Blues this morning and this helped me get my Jerry on a bit... Guitar playing is like walking around in a huge dark house and every once in a while a light comes on, inviting you into a new room. You walk in and have a look around. You might leave. You might stay, but that light stays on going forward. That's your room now. The goal is to get that house lit up like a Christmas tree and bounce around like it's a cocktail party and you're the host. Amirite?

So here is my story. Uh, great video guys, thanks for it. So I have been been playing for awhile. Trying to play along with recordings of some easy songs. Strumming chords mostly. Having fun. I can't sing along and it drives me crazy. As soon as I try to sing and play, my strumming hand just goes nuts. So I thought, ok I will record myself playing and then try to sing along with my recording. Maybe that will train my brain. And WOW! It was so bad. There was no way to sing along with myself. I don't know what to do now. I'm thinking of giving up.

Love your Vids, guys..Very informative..One problem..Duane didn't play on Jessica…Jessica was written by Chuck Leavell, Keyboardist who joined the band post Duane's death..Leavell's addition was to introduce a different sound with the piano to replace the duel guitar sound, for the album Brother's and Sister's, because they didn't feel anyone could replace Duane's guitar…Brother's and sister's is a nice album, but a big departure from what we came to know as the ABB, previously.

It's ok..I alway's thought Leavell wrote the piece but only just now read it was Betts who wrote it…We learn something new all the time.

It's guitar players like the Pentatonic Tag Team who demystify the complexities of guitar. It makes me want to learn more👍

I'm sure you get plenty of suggestions but I think it would be super cool if you made a series based on your 5 biggest guitar influences. For example if you made one video about Jimi Hendrix licks and stuff that you adopted, and then another video on Brian May and things that you learned from him. And continue though all of your top guitar influences.

Love you guys. Great instruction. BTdubs, Jessica was played by Dicky Betts. Dwayne had already died when they recorded it.
