Brilliant! I was just getting ready to get one of these and realized that DdRT would suck. This is a great fix! Now I don't have to stay up all night thinking about how to make it work!

very nice and informative video. The title threw me off a little, because I expected that there would be problems with the RR pro in a Ddrt configuration, but I never thought that you would be solving the problem and using the device this way so nicely. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the device. I just recently ordered myself one and I'm learning everything about it before it gets here. That's how I found your channel.

4srt makes a bird cover that will get rid of the empty space in the RRpro , but won't get rid of the DRT climbing issue. Tending the RRpro like you would in a SRT climb is the best idea. Since the device is intended for srt , but you've accomplished to make it a drt device it may be what I need for my adventure.

Great job troubleshooting a problem and coming up with a fix. Just an idea here, but could you clip the carabiner from the RRP directly around the rope and not use the piece of twine? If that lil accessary carabiner doesn't open far enough maybe there's one out there that does. I'm just thinking of durability. Thanks for another great video.

Could you attach that xsre biner direct to the chest harness? By swapping the position of the 2 carabiners on your bridge's rigging plate.

What size rope diameter using best for you this set up
@Alexbuelna7
@Alexbuelna7 3 года назад
Hey I don't have the pro, but I use the runner everyday and only the runner and only srt for everything. When I'm not using a foot and knee ascender I just clip into my chest ascender. For example I'll set a canopy anchor and work a spar up to my TIP to flop the top. Move up on spurs and lanyard with my chest clipped to my runner. I'm on km3 and it just slides right through the whole time. I very rarely have to tend it. The same with regular pruning I can set a TIP, chest clip in move straight up. The runner is top heavy and longer and engages quicker . The closer you can keep it to your body and straight it will let the rope fall through.

I’m curious about how it does on limb walks. When I limb walk with the Akimbo, it sometimes will completely let go and free fall. The lower friction point on the rope runner probably prevents that free fall. Anyone have experience with that?
@morningwood603
@morningwood603 Год назад
If adjusted properly it will not slide after tending, even if it’s not loaded. Keep playing around with adjustment combinations, I run mine with high friction on the upper bollard and low friction on the lower bollard. If your rope is brand new it’s also going to be slippery, keep that in mind. KMiii Max is my favorite rope to run it on.

Danny Maus yeah I go from SRT TO DRT WITH THIS ROPE. I don’t think it’ll work with a different rope. This rope is very special.

Why do you have 2 carabiners attached to one another? I don't climb on a RRP but that is really throwing me off. Personally, my first mechanical is a UNI because of its versatility and most likely will never switch.......

I've got an important question: What did climbers use before the invention of the Rope Wrench when climbing SRT? or did the rope wrench invent SRT?
@chtclimbing
@chtclimbing 3 года назад
There were many ways of adding a bend above the hitch. The Wrench only became a staple because of how easy it is to use and the tethered that have been developed. Putting a bend in the rope just above your hitch can be done with two carabiners and a sling. I’ve seen figure eight and a carabiner with a sling. There was also a box looking device. I’m sure you may have come across a video with someone using it.
@chtclimbing
@chtclimbing 3 года назад
Oh and the wrench did not invent SRT but it made SRT a more feasible option. Could you imagine trying to use a figure eight and carabiner to put a bend in the rope. And even worse two carabiners? The rope wrench easily attaches to the rope and makes for an easier climb. Have you ever tried a homemade tether? They are finicky at best. Then the tethers became the point of failure for the wrench. If the tether wasn’t stiff enough the wrench will rest on top of your hitch which meant that when you were to sit into your hitch it would bind because the wrench was being loaded into conjunction with the hitch. So then they made super stiff tethers. The next problem was figuring out a way that the tether wouldn’t completely slouch down and rest on rope of the hitch, the problem persisted. There’s all kinds of tethers out there but I think the fusion tether takes care of all these issues.
@tyhnbgtyhnbgt
@tyhnbgtyhnbgt 3 года назад
@@chtclimbing , I've tried the figure 8 method, but you can only put the figure 8 in when the rope has no tension on it. And if it's above the hitch, there's no way it going up.. it's only for working down. And if the figure 8 is below the hitch, then you have to form your hitch way above your harness tie in point to allow room for the figure 8. And once again the figure 8 can't go up with tension on it. But with the below method, the rescue figure 8 gives you a level of confidence like no other. Lock off and work. Thanks for you time and information.

@@tyhnbgtyhnbgt for sure man. Those other methods are how it began. Rock climbers been using SRT techniques for a long time.

Awesome climb dude. Just bee careful the accessory carrabiener doesn't catch the (BIRD) in it and keep it from engaging. I wasn't going to say anything and sound like a no it all. But if u got hurt or worse, I'd feel like poop.

Glad to see someone was looking out! I saw that the paperwork that comes in the box says to not use the SRS attachment point for MRS systems. It doesn't give a specific reason why. I didn't think about it catching the bird and keeping it collapsed. Great idea for a fix though! Just stay safe!
