We all know that Judith Ward will be crashing slumber parties. “IT IS I, JUDITH, GRACING THE CHILDREN WITH MY PRESENCE! Who wants to fetch your favorite auntie a Chablis?”
She’s the rival of all my Sims, I swear. My simself is a global superstar n somehow Judith is always showing up n getting all the attention. Then, another one of my Sims started dating a dude….found out he was married n had a billion kids w Judith. Like, seriously? He was a rando ugly ahh townie I edited to b cute 😅 and, at that point, Judith was an elder dating a young adult !! As soon as my Sim found out he was married, she went home and got a neighborhood story update that her new bf had passed. Like, uhhh…..what did u do to him Judith ? She’s iconic though tbh
@@Kristenn666 She really is, but doesn’t her bio say something about her husbands dying? Or they disappear? I’m not sure but I feel like Judith goes after the insurance 👀👀👀👀👀
Yeah here in the states we have “lock-ins” at community centers and churches for large groups to have sleepovers. I used to chaperone these and it’s stressful 😂
In the US, rec centers do have a thing called “lock ins” where its basically a sleepover at a rec center. Not sure if they are popular anymore but I’ve been to a couple as a kid.
Satch, in the Growing Together trailer, at 1:44 there are two people playing a Scrabble equivalent, I've got the feeling that this is what "Simbles" is!
Here in the U.S. we send kids to community centers and churches for "lock-ins" where it's a sleepover for large groups of same age kids supervised by adult parents. Full of games ranging from table top to sports in the gym centers (most community centers and churches here have gymnasiums with basketball hoops), movies, yummies, scary stories, and more. They're loads of fun if you're a kid, tons of work if you're a supervisor parent.
Just about to comment this. My school had a lock-in at a rec center when I was in middle school. They had an arcade, laser tag and a movie theater but they’ve added a lot more since. I made some great memories that night
They call them lock ins in the US. No one can just walk in, and sometimes they do it at skating rings or churches like for youth groups and such (sleep overs)
Last lockin I attended was back in 1995. The rule was not to sleep. Youth pastor read a Bible verse, and I woke up with oreos on my face, like I caught greyscale from GoT.
My sister brought up a good point to me the other day, the highchairs might be glitchy AF with the infants because they still aren't working properly for toddlers. At least in my game Sims constantly take them out and put them back in, toddlers also refuse to eat in the highchair, I worry the same will happen will infants and they'll have to stick to breastfeeding. :(
I remember as a kid, my class did a "lock in" at a science museum. It was alot of fun! Boys and girls were put in separate rooms (1990s, Catholic School). We were all 11/12 years old, and my mom was one of the Chaperones XD. They had the dinosaur exhibit going on and although the animatronics were shut off by dark, the soundtracks were still on. I thought it was awesome to be hearing the sounds, but alot of my classmates weren't as thrilled. The soundtracks were shut off not long later. I also remember having a "Lock In" at the Zoo with my Campfire Boys and Girls group, at that time the ages were mixed because I remember my younger sister was there as well, our mom was one of the leaders for both my group and my sister's group.
sometimes in america, there are kids recreational centers that you can allow your child to stay the night at. almost like a summer camp kinda vibe but only on the weekends during the summer or spring break etc .. not all the time and typically only for one night at a time. so I guess it makes sense to allow a similar scenario in the game
Personal opinion and it might just be something from my country, but it would've been nice if we could've sent our kids on group holidays? Here in Belgium it's highly popular during every school holiday that kids spend around a week in the country or even abroad doing activities like arts and crafts, sports, exploring, fashion etc. Or exploring the country if it's abroad. It would be a nice thing to have the toddlers, kids and teens away for just a couple of days and learn skills there (and meet new people!) ... But maybe it's too European for them to know of it 😅 Edit: It doesn't have to be interactive, maybe a couple of pop-ups or something. It's just a rabbit hole experience like the parents going on holiday in TS3?
It's so weird to me how cross pack features or compatibility isn't a standard given in TS4, like I will never get over it. Probably the worst thing about the game thus far. Let's cross our gingers they start now.
Ya it makes no sense why Parenthood we have school projects which could easily be an event. Like instead of prom we could switch to school project fairs instead because I rather have prom for their last year of school.
We have "lock-ins" in the UK too. But it's mainly a church thing. Its always a group of kids in a similar age group (say 11 to 17 year olds) and they have to stay in one room, they can only leave to: brush their teeth or use the toilet. Lock ins are so stressful and kinda weird
I think that they were adding preference type things to see who your sim would like to hang out with so do you think that will be in the likes and dislikes??
Yeah I remember going to a lock-in at a mall for Girl Scouts here in the States. Anyone who wasn't a part of it wasn't allowed in or left before it got started. Then we were literally locked in with like a thousand other girls and their parents/chaperones and spent the night there. We watched movies, some of the shops were open and even a couple of food spots to grab something to eat. Some people even brought air mattresses to sleep on. It was fun but it was a terrible nights sleep with a thin little sleeping bag. But yeah, sleep overs like this are common, but I don't know how often they're at a mall or something like that.
I really enjoyed a lock-in at an aquarium with my Girl Scout troop. They let us in right at closing, gave us a private tour, then we spent the night in sleeping bags next to giant floor to ceiling fish tanks.
i don’t think anyone has noticed this but i don’t think kids can pillow fight with adults as of right now, i tried it yesterday in game and the only option my adult sim had was with her husband LOLLL
Pretty sure pillow fighting is currently only if you have high school years and - I thought - only for teens, though I guess it makes sense they’d also allow adults since the animation would be the same as teens. Kids can’t currently pillow fight. In base game, no one can.
We can rent a habitat in our local zoo to have a sleepover for up to 10 kids. It's pretty cool so it's not that odd to have those kinds of sleepovers at places here in the US at least
1) for a VERY british approach on the tooth fairy, try "Hogfather" by Terry Pratchett. 2) I hear that in America they don't just have sleepovers in the community centers, the ACTUALLY lock their children in their churches overnight.
Its less that the kids are literally locked inside the church, community center or school and more that its locked and closed like you would your house. If a kid gets sick or homesick they can go home.
I grew up going to church lock-ins. No one is ever literally locked in a building (that would be a MAJOR fire safety violation, for one thing!), and if you decide you want to leave early, you can, though the adults in charge will double check with your parents first, since they don't want to sign off on someone telling their parents "I'm going to a lock-in at church" when they actually plan to skip out early and get into potential trouble elsewhere. Generally speaking, it's just like a big slumber party, only in a facility that will hold more people than most people's homes would be able to accommodate. At ours, we had movies (with popcorn and other snacks), pizza or other party foods, people brought sleeping bags, board games, etc., and/or there were a few planned activities. So it's not really any different from how I imagine it would be at a community center, except that a church lock-in might also include a short Bible study or other sort of faith-based activity probably earlier on in the evening.
@@EvieDelacourt dude I remember having lock-ins at my church, too (mostly for New Years' when they happened on youth group night). I think once we played laser tag, and we had games in the gym and like...soda and stuff, which led to a very entertaining anecdote where my brother decided to sample all the sodas by drinking a whole cup of each one and got a stomach ache. I think that was probably the worst thing that ever happened, honestly.
I just don't want to be excited for this pack because the adverts always look more fun than it actually is and then once you've sold your mom and favourite pet to afford the new pack you regret spending that money
Youth groups in the UK have sleepovers all the time in community centres. Would also be cool if you can have sleepovers in the museums too. You can do that with brownies and cubs.
German here. When I was young we used to have sleepovers at school with our classes in grade 5/6 (teachers were chaperones) and it was so much experiencing the school while no one was around.
I agree it is strange to have the sleepover in community centers on the service. However my kids went for overnight lock downs in the Y or a community hall or skate place. One time there was also one in a museum. In the real world when this is done kids are dropped off and doors locked to anyone not in that group. It always happened only when it was closed to the public. The kids always had a blast
I actually have had a sleepover at a rec centre before it was set up by boy scouts but you can actually book nights to have sleepovers for anyone here in Canada
I'm laughing right now because I have 4 rl children and two rl step-children all grown except one. They have all slept a gym or recreation center during a sleep in LOL!. They basically sleep with sleeping bags. They're served popcorn and drinks, they watched movies, told creepy stories, played games, and had a light breakfast before coming home. They have volunteers to house-sit them and lock up all the doors. It's usually free but never more than $5 per child. They had this in Pennsylvania and Florida. My kids loved going, to be honest! I was glad for the break hahaha!
I guess that's a cultural difference. I went to many "lock ins" over the years. 1st at my daycare with all my preschool teachers and friends who I already knew and was comfortable with. I went to one at the YMCA where you could stay up all night and do gymnastics, swim during certain hours, and play gymnasium games. Some with our church youth group. Most of them were with girl scouts, and they were themed. It was always closed to just the kids and chaperones. It's just an overnight indoors with a larger group.
My sister had an idea a few years ago for a "safe space sleepover" business. She basically said you could rent out a space for the sleepover and the business would provide activities (like projectors for movies/video games, party games, make your own pizza, etc) , clean up, and security and peace of mind. Our church has also rented out spaces for "lock ins" where there's activities that go all night. Everyone shows up around 7-8ish and then you get picked up 12 hours later.
Actually when my kids were young they slept at the y quite a few times they make sure the kids are safe of course. It was a nice cheap way to get some alone time as a parent. And the kids always have fun.
Our guide group had a “sleepover” in the community centre where meetings were held once, I didn’t go because 1) it was freezing in there and 2) the room was full of huge windows which faced onto a Main Street (where dodgy people went lol) and my parents thought it was a terrible idea, but it does happen. Weirdly specific thing to include imo, like all the things we don’t have yet we have this? It could be interesting if you own any tents in game, though, having a mini camp out or something maybe?
Can't wait to build them, they're similar to youth clubs in the UK, you can do stuff like art and rock climbing, or even play football, it'll be a great chance for my sims to make friends with others their own age! ☺️
i would really love it if teens and children only got homework 2-3 days a week, and the rest of the days their daily task was something like go to a hobby class or scouting, make crafts, have a playdate, etc. between homework and basic needs i feel like teens and kids don't have much time to do things they like that would add realism to the game.
My unpopular opinion about this pack in advance with no information besides the given and past repetitive experiences in older dlc's is that this should've been more akin to seasons, in that it focuses solely on gameplay features with no new world. The world isn't necessary for a pack like this, from the looks of it they tossed together themes from WIllow Creek and Brindleton Bay rather than being creative and taking inspiration from literally 90% of the rest of the worlds cultures, architecture or landscapes, if we got a new world with Seasons it would probably have resulted in no new mechanics to gardening, no flower arranging skill, no food stalls or ice skating rinks placed around the worlds, no holidays feature, or the seasons would've been exclusive to that one world, etc... which is why I feel like this is just another EP being marketed as an overhaul but in reality it's just a new world, 8-9 lots with new townies who own new shaped things which function the same as everything else and do one different thing (build a treehouse) all over again. I mean look at how the lifestyles feature from Snowy Escape was just abandoned, its messy and broken now and the same will happen to the features from this pack. The only consistency from Maxis is that this pack will be broken, then work for a while until the next one comes out. Sorry for the rant, I'm particularly salty about this one because I don't see the excitement over what should be base game features being upsold, I'm ready to be done with this franchise.
The comments are amusing me, because where I come from in England a "lock-in" is where you get locked in the pub after closing time and you carry on drinking 🤣
American here, grew up in Michigan, and we did "lock ins" and "activities nights" both. I think the former was through some church and the latter was through my public school. Often they would be at rec centers, so it makes sense from that perspective. It is a bit of a weird concept, looking at it from the age of the adults. Let's put a bunch of adolescents barely monitored in a giant building and let them run wild until they pass out on the floor.
The more I hear about the rec center coming to Sims 4, the more I think I have no idea what a rec center actually is lol. I literally thought they were just gyms with a pool and some meeting rooms.
In the UK, my parents used to sign me up for a "summer camp" run by the local church to keep me out of the way even though we're not religious. I attended a few lock-in sleepovers over the years, but it all stopped the year I was so upset I walked home at 2AM because of the other kids. Which honestly seems like something the sim kids will pull, they can already travel to other worlds unsupervised.
Wow! reading through the comments, I can't believe I've never heard of "lock-ins" before! I grew up in the 80s/90s in Phoenix, AZ, so I'm surprised that it seems to be such a common thing, but completely new concept to me. My mom really hated the idea of sleep-overs, so maybe that contributed. Sounds like they could have been a lot of fun.
How great would it be if we got new art with the art classes? You know like sculptures, pottery, jewelry making ( we are getting friendships bracelets) etc. I seriously doubt it. But how great would it be?
The community sleepover thing isn't weord to me. When I was in girl scouts we had a sleepover at an aquarium. We got to sleep in those tube rooms with the sharks swimming over us.
Thank you for the update! I am also looking forward to this pack and some very much needed time off. 🤣🤣🤣 You look amazing, by the way. Your hard work and lifestyle change have really paid off 🙌 👏 I'm inspired by you to attempt to be better 🥰
I don’t know maybe it’s an American thing but schools do sleepovers every once in a while or at least they did in the past so rec center sleepover is sort of like that
Hope we get more likes / dislikes categories. Favorite food? Favorite TV-show? Favorite board game? Etc... i have a feeling the likes and dislikes may have an effect on compatibility between sims.
Camps for kids are a thing, you can send them away, or a party at a community area where they sleep over with a guardian of course, I can’t wait, but…my laptop has gotten very slow already with all the packs, I actually took out the vampires since I hardly play them, my favorite world is San myshuno and it’s the worst place to play for me because it freezes so much, I can’t go anywhere because loading times are up to 10 minutes in real time 😢, I have crippling anxiety and depression and ptsd, sims 4 helps me thru my toughest moments, and I really need to get a new laptop as soon as I can afford it, because I really want this pack.😢🙏🏼
Honestly, the likes/dislikes kind of annoy me - I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, so I gave a sim the same likes. All of their wishes were taken up with wanting to listen to music, and as soon as I put on one kind of music, they would immediately want to listen to another kind of music. The last time I made a sim, I didn’t give them any likes at all so they could have some other kinds of wishes!
American here who also thinks the idea of “lock ins” is weird af…. never did that or heard of it until people starting saying “in America we have that” ig America is a big country with 300+ million people who experience different things
Sleepovers (or “lock ins”) for kids at community space like a religious building or rec center aren’t uncommon here. It’s full of adult supervision and you probably know all the kids and their parents, esp if it’s organized by your religious leaders
Gotta remember that this game uses the United States as it's majority influence, even if you count Sulani. It's using Hawaii as it's main reference. Lock-ins are so common over here that it was immediately the first thing I saw in the comment section 🤣. But they're usually school things, your teachers and some parents chaperoning and there were lots of rules, but it could be fun. We had a really cool rec center with a PS4 and Nintendo Switch, so a lock-in wasn't so bad for me. Still didn't like having to participate in the stupid games.
